教学过程 Teaching Procedures
1. Lead-in (3 minutes):
Greet students. Show some pictures of family members having conflicts on PPT. Ask students to describe what they see and guess the reasons for the conflicts.
2. Pre-reading(10 minutes):
Write the title “Maybe You Should Learn to Relax!” on the blackboard. Let students predict what the passage may talk about according to the title.
3. While-reading(15 minutes):
Skimming
Let students read the passage quickly. Ask them to find the main idea of each paragraph and summarize the main idea of the whole passage.
Check with the class. Write the main idea of each paragraph on the blackboard briefly..
Scanning
Present some detailed questions on PPT, such as “What activities do the children take part in?” “Why do parents push their children so hard?”
Let students read the passage carefully again to find the answers. Check the answers one by one.
Language Points
Pick out some important words, phrases and sentences, like “argue with, in one’s opinion, get on with”. Explain their meanings and usages. Let students make sentences with them.
4. Post-reading (10 minutes):
Group Discussion
Divide students into groups. Let them discuss the question: “Do you think the children today are under too much pressure? Why or why not?”
Each group chooses a representative to share their opinions with the class.
5. Summary (2 minutes):
1. Summarize the new words, phrases and the main content of the passage.
2. Emphasize the importance of balanced family life and reasonable pressure.

1. Ask students to write a short passage about their own opinions on family pressure.
