1. Language Competence
1) Students can master and correctly use the grammar structures related to expressing willingness to volunteer, such as “I’d like to...”, “I want to...”, “I hope to...” and giving suggestions, like “You could...”, “You should...”.
2) Be able to apply these grammar structures in various oral and written communication situations about volunteer work.
2. Cultural Awareness
1) Notice how the use of these grammar structures can reflect different cultural attitudes towards volunteering and helping others.
2) Understand that different cultures may have unique ways of expressing offers and suggestions in the context of volunteer activities.
3. Thinking Ability
1) Analyze the differences and similarities among different expressions of willingness and suggestions, enhancing logical thinking.
2) Develop critical thinking by evaluating the appropriateness of grammar usage in different scenarios related to volunteer work.
4. Learning Ability
1) Learn effective methods to understand and remember grammar rules, such as through examples and practice.
2) Be able to self-assess grammar learning progress and adjust learning strategies accordingly.

教学过程 Teaching Procedures
1. Warm-up (5 minutes):
Review and Introduction
(1) Briefly review the volunteer work and related vocabulary from the previous reading class.
(2) Present the grammar focus on the screen, showing the sentences related to expressing willingness and giving suggestions. For example, “I’d like to help homeless people.” “You could visit the sick kids in the hospital.”
(3) Read the sentences aloud, and ask students to repeat after the teacher.
2. Presentation (10 minutes):
Grammar Explanation
Explain the structure and usage of “I’d like to...” (a polite way to express one’s wish), “I want to...” (a more direct expression of desire), “I hope to...” (expressing a wish for something to happen in the future).
For giving suggestions, explain “You could...” (suggesting a possible option) and “You should...” (giving more of an advice based on moral or practical reasons).
Write the key grammar structures on the blackboard:
Expressing willingness:
I’d like to + verb-base form
I want to + verb-base form
I hope to + verb-base form
Giving suggestions:
You could + verb-base form
You should + verb-base form
3. Practice (15 minutes):
Oral Practice
Conduct a question-and-answer activity. The teacher starts with a situation, like “There is a park that needs cleaning. What would you like to do?” and call on students to answer using the grammar structures for expressing willingness.
Then, reverse the roles. The teacher gives a situation, and students offer suggestions. For example, “My friend wants to volunteer but doesn’t know where to start. What suggestions can you give?”
Written Practice
Distribute handouts with grammar-filling exercises. The exercises can include blanks for students to fill in with the correct form of the grammar structures. For example, “I ____ (want / would like / hope) to volunteer at the animal shelter.” or “If your neighbor is old and lonely, you ____ (could / should) help him with the housework.”
Let students complete the exercises individually, and then check the answers together.
4. Production (10 minutes):
Group Work
Divide students into groups. Present a more complex situation, such as planning a community volunteer project. Each group needs to discuss and plan using the grammar structures they have learned. They should express their own willingness to participate in different parts of the project and give suggestions to their group members.
Walk around the classroom to monitor and offer help.
Presentation
Ask each group to present their volunteer project plan to the class. Other students listen and can ask questions or give their own opinions.
5. Summary (5 minutes):
Summarize the key grammar points of expressing willingness and giving suggestions.
Ask students to share any difficulties they still have with these grammar structures.
作业设计 Homework Design
1. Ask students to write a short passage about a volunteer activity they plan to organize. They need to use at least three different expressions of willingness and suggestions in the passage.
2. Encourage students to pay attention to the use of these grammar structures in daily English communication.

教学反思
Teaching Reflection
In this class, students actively participated in practice activities. However, some students still made mistakes in using the grammar structures, especially in distinguishing between similar expressions. In future teaching, more targeted practice and detailed explanations should be provided. Also, more real-life scenarios can be created to enhance students’ ability to apply grammar in context.
教学评价
Teaching Evaluation
1. Formative Evaluation
Observe students’ participation in oral and group activities, including their accuracy in using grammar structures and their communication ability.
Provide timely feedback on students’ performance during practice and group work.
2. Summative Evaluation
Evaluate students’ written homework to assess their understanding and application of the grammar knowledge.
Conduct a small grammar quiz in the next class to further check students’ mastery.
