【答案】One night, the little boy lay on the bed but couldn’t sleep. He wanted to go to see the tree, and figure out what had happened. When he came to the courtyard on tiptoe, he found his father was splashing something under his tree with great care. All of a sudden, he understood: his father had been secretly fertilizing his small tree! Father had done everything for the little tree, especially for him! He returned to his room, tears running down without restraint.
Decades passing, the saplings has grown into a towering tree. The little boy grew up and was cultivated with an image of a successful statesman. His lameness and uneven teeth had never prevented him from chasing his wild dreams. He knew his every step was bound to be accompanied by father’s care. Love is the best nourishment of life; even if it is just one handful of clear water, it can make the tree of life thrive.

M: Sorry, I left it out a few days ago and forgot to put it back in the fridge.
4. W: Hi. I bought this dress online, and I absolutely love the color. But it’s just too big around my shoulders. Can I exchange it?
M: That particular dress has sold out. But we have several other styles in that exact green. Shall I show you?
W: Yes, please!
5. W: You shouldn’t give our baby that toy to bite.

M: What is it? History?
W: It’s science. I’m okay with physics and biology but I’m having real trouble understanding the chemistry we have to learn.
M: How about I turn this music off and ask you questions to help you revise?

W: Ideally, you need to reduce the training time for a while, take these pills every two days, and then rest your knees completely after the race.
M: Thanks!
听下面一段较长对话,回答以下小题
W: So, what do you think of the place?

W: You had a phone as a teenager?
M: Yes, although it wasn’t as good as this one! It had a tiny grey screen and no games. And it could only store 20 text messages on it at a time! If I wanted to keep an important text, I wrote it down in a notebook.
W: Ha-ha!
M: But my friends and I didn’t send thousands of messages to each other. It took ages because those phones didn’t have proper keyboards. Plus, each text cost 10 cents to send.
W: Really?
M: Yes. I was only allowed $5 of phone credit each month, and I preferred to spend most of it on musical ringtones!
W: Musical ringtones? Your generation is so funny!
M: Anyway... I hope you enjoy it. Just don’t lose focus on your studies. Next year is your graduation year remember.
W: I promise I won’t, Dad. I’ll use it wisely!
听下面一段独白,回答以下小题。
When the dog Bonnie went missing, her owner Peter Closier was worried sick. Unable to find her in the neighborhood, he began calling local animal aid centers, animal hospitals, as well as the police. Meanwhile, Bonnie had been picked up by a man named John Wilmer, who was driving his own dogs to a dog competition at a shopping mall about an hour away. John was already running late, so he made a quick social media post with Bonnie’s picture to try and locate the dog’s owner. Then, he put Bonnie in the car and took her with him. For a joke, he entered Bonnie into the Best Rescue Dog competition. To everyone’s surprise, she won third place! After seeing the social media post, Peter contacted John. Bonnie was returned home to her family soon, looking very proud of herself with the flower she earned in her mouth. Peter said, “It was a good thing that she came back. This was even better. She returned with a prize!” Strangely, the family’s other dog, Cleo, is a medal-winning show dog, but Bonnie had never entered any competitions. Perhaps she simply wanted to prove what she could do.

Tony Bennett, one of the legends of jazz and popular music, developed a career lasting over half a century.
He was born on August 3,1926, in New York City. His parents were both from poor farming families. Young Tony gave a singing performance at the opening of the Triborough Bridge at 10 years old. He studied music at the New York High School of Industrial Arts but dropped out at the age of 16. To help his family economically, he worked as a singing waiter in Italian restaurants.
In 1950, Bennett signed a contract (合同) with Columbia Records and then made his first big hit Because of You. It sold over a million copies and topped the pop charts in1951. The same year he released I Left My Heart in San Francisco, which remained on the charts for a year and has become his signature song.
Bennett had a change of fortune after 1964, with strong competition from The Beatles and the British Invasion. His singing career took a downturn when his bosses forced him to change his image and style, which pleased no one.
Tough as the life was, his career took off again when he brought back his original style. He made two gold albums in 1992 and 1993, and developed a loyal following. He again extended musical cooperation to live performances with other bands. Bennett also appeared as himself on MTV’s documentary series Unplugged. His successful comeback became big success in the modern-day entertainment industry.

Some of us like to keep some things private — maybe we don’t want people knowing about our relationship status, our age or where we live— because these details are personal. The problem is, everywhere we go online, we seem to leave a digital footprint.
On our social media accounts, we often display things like our opinions, connections and holiday snaps. The issue is that how we can stop everybody seeing everything. Maybe we don’t want a stranger knowing our favourite type of coffee. And cookies — there was a time they were just something nice to eat. Now they seem to be popping up (弹出) on websites, which are designed to improve your browsing (浏览) experience by tracking and saving information about your visits to a website, helping to personalize your sessions. So how can you stay more private?
There are some steps you can take. First, on your social media accounts, check you privacy settings. Many social media platforms allow everything to be seen by default (系统设定), so the duty is on you to set your limits. Moreover, sharing less personal information isn’t just for social media. There are many websites out there that help you to share documents, so a good tip might be not to put anything too private on there, like passwords. One improper click may send it to the wrong person. Finally, as for cookies, deleting your browsing history may help, but there are certain applications which can stop them if you don’t feel comfortable.
So, if you want to maintain your privacy online, maybe only share things you’d be happy with a stranger seeing, and if you don’t feel comfortable with cookies, you might decide to invest in some technology to stop them. If that’s not enough, just don’t accept them and visit another site, and why not have a yummy cookie to eat instead?
32. According to the passage, what does “digital footprint” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A. The history of internet usage.
B. The cookies stored by websites.
C. The physical marks left by walking.
D. The tracks of personal information left online
33. What is the possible problem of cookies popping up on websites?
A. They might collect users’ browsing data.
B. They can block unwanted advertisements.
C. They will delete browsing history automatically.
D. They can prevent strangers from accessing personal data.
34. Which of the following would the writer probably agree with?
A. Deleting your browsing history is of no use.
B. Privacy settings on social media need to be adjusted.
C. Accepting all cookies improves browsing experience.
D. Saving passwords on document-sharing websites is safe.
35. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To criticize(评论)the use of social media.
B. To encourage sharing personal details.
C. To suggest ways to protect online privacy.
D. To explain how cookies improve browsing.

He seldom played with his classmates; and when the teacher asked him to answer questions in the class, he always lowered his head without saying a word.
One spring, the boy’s father asked for some saplings (树苗) from the neighbor. He excitedly told his children to plant a sapling each person. The father said, “Whose small tree grows best, I will buy a favorite gift.” The boy also wanted to get his father’s gift. But seeing his brothers and sisters carrying water to water the trees with great enthusiasm, anyhow, he hit upon an idea: he hoped the tree he planted would die soon. So watering it once or twice, he never attended to it any longer.
A few days later, when the little boy went to see his tree again, he was surprised to find it not only didn’t die, but also grew some fresh leaves, and compared with the trees of his brothers and sisters, his appeared greener and more vital. And his father kept his promise and bought the little boy his favorite gift.
Since then, the little boy slowly became optimistic. Nevertheless, again and again on his mind the little boy wondered why his little tree should grow so much better than others’, since he had never paid enough attention to the tree. Who should have done everything?
