A
One Sunday afternoon, Mum took me to a shop to buy a new T-shirt. After finding the perfect one, we queued to pay for the T-shirt at the counter.
A lady was standing in front of us in the queue. When it was her turn to pay, she took out her purse from her handbag. Ping! Two cards dropped out and fell onto the floor. She didn't notice!
I quickly bent down and picked them up. I looked at the cards curiously because I had never seen a credit card before.
Before I could hand them back, the lady turned around. She saw the cards in my hand. Her eyes widened. “Thief!” she shouted, her voice sharp and angry. “You tried to steal my cards!”
My heart sank. I felt a lump in my throat. I wanted to explain, but she snatched the cards from me. “I……I just picked them up!” I said in a very low voice.
Mum stepped forward. “Excuse me,” she said calmly, “My son found your cards and was about to return them. He didn't try to steal anything.”
The cashier nodded. “Yes, I saw him pick them up,” she said. Other people in the queue also spoke up for me.
The lady's face turned red. She looked from me to Mum, then to the cashier and the others. “I'm so sorry.” She apologized to both of us.
Even though she said sorry, I still felt a little sad. Mum smiled and squeezed my hand.“Sometimes,” she said softly, “people misunderstand. But that doesn't mean we should stop being kind and helpful.” She bought me a small ice cream as a treat. It made me smile, and I knew she was right. Helping others is always the right thing to do, even if it doesn't always feel good at first.

Heavy traffic has long been a global headache. The idea of flying cars has fascinated people for years and is now moving closer to reality.
Several companies around the world are actively developing flying cars. For example, the Dutch company PAL-V has created the “Liberty” flying car. It features a unique design, mixing the functions of a car and a gyrocopter (旋翼机). In road-driving mode, it can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and has a range (范围) of 1315 km on a full tank of fuel. When it transforms into flight mode, the top speed is 180 km/h with a range of about 500 km. Transitioning between the two modes takes only 10 minutes.
Another notable example is the Terrafugia Transition from the United States. This two-seater vehicle can take off and land at airports and also drive on normal roads. It can travel at speeds up to 115 mph in the air and drive at highway speeds on the ground. What’s more, it can fold up to fit into a standard-sized garage.
Flying cars offer numerous advantages. Firstly, they can significantly reduce traffic congestion on the ground, as they can bypass crowded roads by taking to the skies. Secondly, they can enable faster long-distance travel. For instance, instead of being stuck in traffic for hours during a long-distance journey, people could reach their destinations (目的地) much quicker by flying.
However, there are also challenges. The cost of flying cars is currently very high. The “Pioneer Edition” of the PAL-V flying car is priced at nearly $600.000, putting it out of reach for most consumers. Additionally, strict regulations (管理) need to be developed for their use in the airspace. There are concerns about air traffic control, ensuring safe distances between flying cars, and dealing with potential emergencies (潜在的突发事件) in the air.
16.What is one advantage of the PAL-V “Liberty” flying car?
A.It can fly at a speed of over 200km/h in flight mode.
B.It has a longer range in flight mode than in road-driving mode.
C.It can switch between road-driving and flight modes in a short time.
D.It is the cheapest flying car on the market.
17.What may the underlined word “Transitioning” mean in paragraph 2?
A.Changing. B.Staying. C.Walking. D.Flying.
18.What do we know about the Terrafugia Transition?
A.It can only land at special airports designed for flying cars.
B.It can’t be parked in a normal garage due to its large size.
C.It travels faster on the ground than in the air.
D.It is a two-seater vehicle that can both drive and fly.
19.Why are flying cars not yet widely used?
A.People are not interested in them.
B.They are too expensive and lack proper regulations.
C.They are not as fast as expected.
D.They are not environmentally friendly.
20.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Flying cars will completely replace traditional cars in the near future.
B.The development of flying cars will not face any more difficulties.
C.With further development and regulation, flying cars may become a common way of transportation.
D.Only a few wealthy people can afford flying cars even in the future.
C
Do you have a good memory? Are you good at remembering things? To help yourself remember what you’ve learned, you are encouraged to use some useful ways to study. Try these suggestions, and you will be surprised how easy it is to remember things.
Write down things you need to keep in mind
Research has shown that within two days of getting new information, you forget 60% of it. But if you write down the information, you can remember more. So write down the key information in your textbooks. You can also make a mind map—place the main idea in the center and use lines to connect related (相关) information.
Read and share what you are learning
Saying words out loud can be helpful. According to the research at the University of Waterloo, you are more likely to remember information that you have read aloud to yourself. Besides, try to teach your study topics to other people. It’s good for you because it makes you think about your learning materials more deeply.
Go to sleep after learning
Research shows that going to sleep shortly after a study period will improve your recall of the materials you just studied. That is because when you sleep, your brain turns facts from short-term memory into long-term (短期) memory. So if you need to learn something challenging, do it a few hours, before you go to sleep. If you can’t sleep during the day, review your notes before going to bed.
21.How does the writer start the text?
A.By telling a story. B.By listing numbers.
C.By asking questions. D.By showing a photo.
22.What can stop you forget information quickly?
A.Writing down everything. B.Making a mind map.
C.Drawing pictures of it. D.Reading textbooks.
23.Why is it good for you to say words out loud?
A.It can help you remember information by reading aloud to yourself.
B.It works well with mind maps.
C.It saves the time to write down information.
D.It forces deeper understanding of materials.
24.What does the underlined word “recall” mean in paragraph 4?
A.Memory. B.Brain. C.Fact. D.Note.
25.What is the purpose of the passage?
A.To compare different study methods.
B.To introduce useful ways to remember things.
C.To warn students about memory loss problems.
D.To explain how human brains process information.

【答案】16.C 17.A 18.D 19.B 20.C

In road-driving mode, it can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and has a range (范围) of 1315 km on a full tank of fuel. When it transforms into flight mode, the top speed is 180 km/h with a range of about 500 km. Transitioning between the two modes takes only 10 minutes.”可知,Liberty可以在短时间内在公路驾驶和飞行模式之间切换。故选C。
17.词义猜测题。根据“When it transforms into flight mode, the top speed is 180 km/h with a range of about 500 km. Transitioning between the two modes takes only 10 minutes”可知,当它转换为飞行模式时,最高速度为180公里/小时,续航里程约为500公里。在两种模式之间转换只需要10分钟,所以transitioning意为“转换”,故选A。
18.细节理解题。根据“Another notable example is the Terrafugia Transition from the United States. This two-seater vehicle can take off and land at airports and also drive on normal roads.”可知,Terrafugia Transition是一辆双座汽车,既能驾驶又能飞行,故选D。
19.细节理解题。根据“The cost of flying cars is currently very high...Additionally, strict regulations (管理) need to be developed for their use in the airspace. There are concerns about air traffic control, ensuring safe distances between flying cars, and dealing with potential emergencies (潜在的突发事件) in the air.”可知,飞行汽车价格太贵,缺乏适当的监管。故选B。
20.推理判断题。根据“The idea of flying cars has fascinated people for years and is now moving closer to reality...Additionally, strict regulations (管理) need to be developed for their use in the airspace. There are concerns about air traffic control, ensuring safe distances between flying cars, and dealing with potential emergencies (潜在的突发事件) in the air.”可知,随着进一步的发展和监管,飞行汽车可能会成为一种常见的交通方式。故选C。

【答案】21.C 22.B 23.A 24.A 25.B

By the second day, our group learned to 5 tasks better. Tom dug holes quickly. Lucy carefully placed the trees and others added soil. I noticed something 6 —birds started singing around us, as if cheering for our work. We were all very excited.
But 7 came. On the third day, dark clouds came. “We must finish planting the last ten trees before the rain arrived!” shouted Mr. Wang. Everyone worked faster. Suddenly, Lily 8 and hurt her knee. But she smiled and said, “Don’t worry! I’ll tie ribbons (丝带) on the trees to mark our progress.” Her courage made us feel energetic again.
A month later, we returned. The empty field was now full of green leaves. A sense of 9 filled my heart. I realized that even small actions, like planting a tree, could 10 the world. Now, every time I see those trees, I remember Lily’s ribbons and how creative we were when facing difficulties.

第一节 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。(共15 小题,每小题2分)
A
One Sunday afternoon, Mum took me to a shop to buy a new T-shirt.
