A This year, many kids’ movies have come out. With so many great ones to choose from, we’ve picked three of them for you. Let’s take a look together!
Orion and the Dark
《奥利安与黑暗》
Release Date: Feb 2, 2024
Orion has a great many fears − but he’s especially afraid of the dark. So you can imagine his surprise when an embodiment (化身) of the dark shows up to take him on an adventure to show him there’s nothing to be afraid of. The Netflix movie is based on a book by Emma Yarlett, but the script (剧本) was written by someone who knows a thing or two about writing movies about anxieties (焦虑): Charlie Kaufman, the writer behind Being John Malkovich.
Robot Dreams
《机器人之梦》
Release Date: May 31, 2024
This film, based on the comic by Sara Varon, received an Oscar nomination (提名) for Best Animated Feature. (It lost to The Boy and the Heron.) It’s about an anthropomorphic (拟人化的) dog who, to help with feeling lonely, orders a robot to be his friend. Barry Jenkins, the Oscar-nominated director of Moonlight, directs a prequel (前传) to The Lion King about Mufasa (voiced by Aaron Pierre) and his relationship with Scar (Kelvin Harrison, Jr). Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special,” she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight (视力)? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again…But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.
(Adapted from “Three Days to See” by Helen Keller)

Artificial intelligence is developing fast. DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, has become a leader in educational technology. Its new model, DeepSeek - R1, uses advanced machine - learning ways. It gives personalized learning solutions to students around the world.
Traditional AI models use pre - programmed answers. But DeepSeek - R1 is different. It uses reinforcement learning. It can think like people. It helps students solve problems step by step, just like a kind tutor. For example, if a student has trouble with a math equation, DeepSeek - R1 doesn't just tell the answer. It explains the logic, finds mistakes, and makes students think critically.
DeepSeek - R1 is useful not only in school subjects. In language learning, it can listen to students' pronunciation with AI speech recognition. Then it gives answers right away. For teachers, DeepSeek - R1 can make lesson plans according to curriculum standards. It can also guess students' learning problems from past data. Its "adaptive testing" can make special quizzes. The quizzes change their difficulty as students learn.
But there are problems. Some people say relying too much on AI may cut down human interaction in education. DeepSeek's developers say it's just a "helper, not a replacement." Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, said, "We want to help teachers not do boring tasks. Then they can focus on making students creative."
In the future, DeepSeek wants to put virtual reality (VR) into its platform. Students can use it to learn about historical events or scientific ideas in 3D. Although people are still arguing about AI in education, one thing is clear: Tools like DeepSeek are changing how we learn. They mix technology with human wisdom.
33.What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models?
A. It uses pre - programmed answers for quick solutions
B. It relies on human teachers to guide students
C. It uses reinforcement learning to simulate human reasoning
D. It only works for math and science subjects
34.What does DeepSeek - R1 do when a student struggles with a math equation?
A. It gives the correct answer immediately
B. It breaks down the logic and encourages critical thinking
C. It tells the student to ask a teacher for help
D. It provides a video tutorial from a human tutor
35.What does the word "adaptive" mean in "adaptive testing"?
A. Difficult to understand
B. Able to change according to situations
C. Always the same without changes
D. Easy for all students to use
36.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To advertise DeepSeek products.
B. To criticize the risks of AI in schools.
C. To compare different AI models.
D. To discuss AI’s role in transforming education.
D
Humans share the earth with different kinds of wildlife. Humans, plants and animals are connected and depend on each other. They are all important parts of the rich biodiversity (生物多样性) of the earth. However, many kinds of plants or animals are becoming endangered over the past years because of climate (气候) change and human activities.
Humans are one of the main reasons for this. According to a report by the United Nations in 2019, the world’s population has doubled (from 3. 7 to 7. 6 billion) in the past 50 years. Humans have used more than one third of the world’s land and 75 percent of freshwater. Besides, some human activities like cutting down forests and polluting rivers also do harm to the environment. As a result, there are fewer habitats (栖息地) and natural resources (资源) available for animals, as well as more pollution.
To deal with the problem, many countries have taken action. As one of the countries with the richest biodiversity in the world, China has taken an active part in biodiversity protection. The Chinese government has developed laws to protect wildlife and set up a biodiversity monitoring (监测) network. It has also built nature reserves (保护区) with national parks. From January 1, 2019, the first local law about biodiversity protection was developed in Yunnan province. Yunnan lies in the mountains area of Southwest China and it is the area with the richest biodiversity in China and it is also the most successful area in China’s biodiversity protection. For this reason, in 2021, COP 15 was held in Kunming and was a great success.
Biodiversity protection requires efforts from the whole world and China is now playing a leading role in protecting biodiversity, hoping to build a green home for both humans and nature.
37. What can we learn from paragraph 1 about the biodiversity of the earth?
A. Humans live on the earth and own the earth.
B. There is no connection between humans, plants and animals.
C. Humans, plants and animals are all important parts of biodiversity.
D. The biodiversity of the earth is mainly influenced by climate change.
38. What caused the fewer habitats and natural resources for animals?
A. Climate change. B. Short for freshwater.
C. Environment pollution. D. Doubled population and human activities.
39. Why was Yunnan chosen to hold COP 15?
A. Because it lies in the mountains area of southwest China.
B. Because it developed the first local law about biodiversity protection.
C. Because it has the richest biodiversity in China and does well in biodiversity protection.
D. Because it has built nature reserves with national park.
40. What’s the best title for this passage?
A. China is working on the protection of biodiversity.
B. Help save the endangered animals.
C. China’s nature reserves with national parks.
D. Human activities do harm to the biodiversity of the earth.
阅读短文及文后A~E选项,选出可以填入41~45各题空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
Thanks to AI, work will look very different in the near future than it does today. According to the World Economic Forum, 85 million jobs will be influenced by AI by 2030. 1 In this fast-changing era, our university degrees or past achievements don’t matter so much now. What’s more important are the skills we have.
To stay competitive, we need two groups of skills. The first is AI skills. Having AI skills doesn’t mean becoming an AI engineer or computer scientist. 2 We will become an AI collaborator and supervisor (合作者和监督者). AI will soon appear everywhere in our daily life. 3
Human soft skills make up the second group. It means abilities that AI still cannot handle as well as humans. 4 For example, humans are good at working as a team, thinking of new ideas, and building trusting relationships with others. In schools and workplaces, these abilities are always needed. So as AI grows stronger, these human skills become even more important.
5 Most importantly, we must stay curious, accept changes, and develop lifelong learning. This is how we grow with technology instead of being replaced by it.
A. At the same time, millions of new jobs will be created.
B. To succeed in the AI era, we need AI skills and human skills.
C. These abilities come from the human strengths throughout history.
D. So, being able to make the best of Al tools will help us do better than others.
E. Instead, it means the ability to use Al effectively and check its work carefully.

【答案】范文:
Last Thursday, our school held a special event called “Tradition Meets Technology” to help us experience the charm of combining traditional culture with modern technology.
The event had many amazing activities. First, we put on VR headsets to “visit” the Terracotta Warriors. The 3D technology made the ancient soldiers look so real that we felt like we were traveling back to the Qin Dynasty. Next, a local paper-cutting master taught us to make traditional window flowers through a live stream. Students in the hall and online viewers both followed her steps, and we shared our works on social media. The most interesting part was the AI poetry station. We entered keywords like “spring” or “family,” and the AI generated beautiful poems in classical styles within seconds.
Through these activities, I realized that technology can make traditional culture more lively and accessible. The VR experience made history come alive, while the live stream and AI showed how new tools can help us inherit traditions. I hope more schools will organize such events, and we should all actively explore ways to let our rich culture shine in the modern world.
