Most environmental pollution on Earth comes from humans and their inventions, such as cars or plastic (塑料). Today, car emissions (排放物) are a major source of air pollution leading to climate change, and plastics fill our ocean, creating a health issue to marine (海洋的) animals.
And what about the electric light, thought to be one of the greatest human inventions of all time? Electric light can be a beautiful thing, guiding us home when the sun goes down, keeping us safe and making our homes bright. However, like carbon dioxide emissions and plastic, too much of a good thing has started to influence the environment. Light pollution, the unsuitable use of outdoor light, is affecting human health, wildlife behavior and our ability to observe stars.
Light pollution is a global problem. This became obvious when the World Atlas of Artificial Night Sky Brightness, a digital map based on thousands of satellite (卫星) photos, was published in 2016. Online for viewing, the map shows how and where our globe is lit up at night. Vast areas of North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia are glowing (发光) with light, while only the most remote regions (偏远地区) on Earth (Greenland, Central African Republic and Niue) are in total darkness. Some of the most light-polluted countries in the world are Singapore, Qatar, and Kuwait.
Sky glow is the brightening of the night sky, mostly over cities, because of the electric lights of cars, street lamps, offices, factories, outdoor advertising, and buildings, turning night into day for people who work and play long after sunset.
People living in cities with high levels of sky glow have a hard time seeing more than a handful of stars at night. Astronomers (天文学家) are concerned with sky glow pollution as it reduces their ability to view stars. They are running out of places on Earth to set up observatories, as even the most remote locations are witnessing a reduction in the darkness of night skies.
8. What can we learn from paragraph 2?
A. The use of outdoor light must be stopped.
B. Electric light has both advantages and disadvantages.
C. Electric light is the main reason to keep us safe.
D. Electric light is the greatest human invention.
9. Which of the following places is least affected by sky glow?
A. Qatar. B. Singapore. C. Kuwait. D. Niue.
10. Why do astronomers especially complain about sky glow?
A. They can’t afford to set up observatories.
B. Sky glow has a bad effect on their life.
C. Sky glow make their work challenging.
D. Sky glow wastes too much electricity.
11. What is the best title for the text?
A. Shadows of Progress: The Dark Side of Electric Light
B. Beyond the Glow: Understanding Light Effects
C. A World Develop Too Fast: The Challenge of Pollution
D. A Global Problem: Plastics and Emissions
B 9. D 10. C 11. A

根据第二段中“Electric light can be a beautiful thing, guiding us home when the sun goes down, keeping us safe and making our homes bright. However, like carbon dioxide emissions and plastic, too much of a good thing has started to influence the environment. Light pollution, the unsuitable use of outdoor light, is affecting human health, wildlife behavior and our ability to observe stars.(电灯可以是一件美好的事物,在太阳下山时指引我们回家,保证我们的安全,使我们的家明亮。然而,就像二氧化碳排放和塑料一样,太多的好东西开始影响环境。光污染,即室外光的不当使用,正在影响人类健康、野生动物行为和我们观察星星的能力)”可知,电灯既有好处也有坏处。故选B项。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Vast areas of North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia are glowing (发光) with light, while only the most remote regions (偏远地区) on Earth (Greenland, Central African Republic and Niue) are in total darkness. Some of the most light-polluted countries in the world are Singapore, Qatar, and Kuwait. (北美、欧洲、中东和亚洲的大片地区都灯火通明,而地球上只有最偏远的地区 (格陵兰岛、中非共和国和纽埃) 处于完全黑暗之中。世界上光污染最严重的国家包括新加坡、卡塔尔和科威特)”可知,纽埃是受影响最小的地区之一。故选D项。
【10题详解】

Teenagers’ fitness is now a major concern, to which physical exercise is very important. It reduces stress and improves fitness. Exercise makes your body strong, and helps you to keep the right body weight. Sports scientist Dr. Helen Lopez offers the following advice to teenagers: “First, you need to find out your present level of fitness. Then you can design a program that will help you become healthier.”
Dr. Lopez suggests that there are three levels of fitness that need a change of lifestyle. “Overweight” means that the person gets very little exercise and often has a serious weight problem. “Inactive” means that the person does not join in many physical activities, but is not seriously overweight. “Active” refers to people who take part in sports and other physical activities, but do not have a high fitness level.
According to Dr. Lopez, overweight teenagers should keep active to keep healthy. “Ride a bike, play volleyball or basketball for a while, and go for a twenty-minute walk each day. All these will help to burn calories.” Inactive teenagers should do similar activities, but add some bending and stretching exercises like push-ups and sit-ups, starting with twenty of each a day. “Inactive people can take a little more exercise than overweight people because their bodies are stronger,” said Dr. Lopez. The same principle applies to active teenagers.
Dr. Lopez suggests one hour a week or more on running and other forms of intensive exercise, together with fifteen minutes a day spent on stretching and bending activities. “These are really important in order to prevent injuries,” Dr. Lopez said. Some weight-training and other body-strengthening exercises could also be planned in the program in order to increase the person’s strength.
12. What does Dr. Lopez suggest for inactive teenagers?
A. Focus only on bending exercises.
B. Do push-ups while avoiding walks.
C. Combine stretching with moderate (适度的) activities.
D. Start with one-hour daily weight training.
13. What does the underlined word “their” in Paragraph 3 refer to ?
A. Overweight people. B. Inactive people. C. Active teenagers. D. Sports scientists.
14. How does Dr. Lopez view the exercise plans she proposes?
A. As flexible but principle-based programs.
B. As temporary solutions without scientific proof.
C. As overly strict rules for all teenagers.
D. As unimportant supplements to diets.
15. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To criticize modern teenagers’ lazy lifestyles.
B. To promote a specific brand of sports equipment.
C. To provide scientifically-graded exercise guidance.
D. To compare ancient and modern fitness theories.
C 13. B 14. A 15. C
根据文章第三段““Inactive people can take a little more exercise than overweight people because their bodies are stronger,” said Dr. Lopez. The same principle applies to active teenagers.(Lopez博士说:“不太活跃的人可以比超重的人多做一点运动,因为他们的身体更强壮。”同样的原则也适用于活跃的青少年。)”以及第四段“Dr. Lopez suggests one hour a week or more on running and other forms of intensive exercise, together with fifteen minutes a day spent on stretching and bending activities.(Lopez博士建议每周进行一小时或更长时间的跑步和其他形式的高强度运动,并且每天花15分钟进行伸展和弯曲运动。)”
根据划线单词所在句“Inactive people can take a little more exercise than overweight people because their bodies are stronger,(不太活跃的人可以比超重的人多做一点运动,因为他们的身体更强壮)”可推测,该句比较了“Inactive people”和 “overweight people”的情况,说不活跃的人可以比超重的人多做一点运动,因为“他们的”身体更强壮,这里“他们的”显然是指前面提到的“Inactive people”,即不活跃的人。
故选A。
文章第一段提到“Sports scientist Dr. Helen Lopez offers the following advice to teenagers.(运动科学家Dr. Helen Lopez为青少年提供了以下建议。)”,紧接着短文第二段提到Dr. Lopez认为有三个健康水平需要改变生活方式,第三段和第四段提到Dr. Lopez为超重、不活跃和活跃的青少年分别提供了建议。由此可知,这篇文章的主要目的是提供科学的分级运动指导。故选C。

Yang Yu, later known as Jiaozi, was born in 1980 in Sichuan. Despite growing up in a family of doctors, he was deeply fascinated by animation from a young age. Although he studied medicine in the University, his passion for animation never faded. After graduating, he worked at an advertising company but felt unfulfilled. Determined to pursue his dream, he quit his job and dedicated himself to animation without stable income, supported by his mother’s monthly pension(养老金) of 1,000 yuan.
In 2008, Jiaozi completed his first animated short film and it received wide recognition, which strengthened his determination to pursue his animation dream. In 2015, he was invited by Enlight Media to direct an animated film. Choosing the mythological figure Ne Zha, Jiaozi aimed to reinvent the character, creating a rebellious yet heroic version that opposed traditional expectations. In classic Chinese mythology, Ne Zha is often seen as a heroic figure who fights against evil and upholds justice, but in the new version, Ne Zha struggles with his identity and fate with internal conflicts and loneliness, making him a more complex character.
In the following days, while Yang Yu and his team faced numerous challenges, they never gave up. After more than three years, “Ne Zha: I Am the Destiny” finally debuted(首秀), which won the love and praise of the audience with its inventive storytelling, emotional depth, and amazing visuals. In 2025, upon the release of “Nezha2: Rebirth of the Demon Child”, a sequel to Ne Zha, it took the box office by storm with 15 billion, breaking records in China and across the global film industry.
Jiaozi’s success revitalized(振兴) China’s animation industry, inspiring a new generation of creators.
