Yes, professor dandy, i'm reporting on the effects of different marketing strategies on the cheese and oil markets. Different strategies obviously affect the sales volume differently. I looked at the sales in two countries, new zealand and columbia. And what did you find? Well, in new zealand, sales of both oil and trees have declined steadily. On the other hand, in columbia, the volume of sales for both products has remained the same. Wait, so you said sales in new zalm have been going down? Yes, suppliers have introduced some new brands of each product, which are a bit expensive but very tasty. The big ad agencies are trying out a new series of ads that shift the focus from health to great taste. They think that will get sales moving up the new zealand, where the population is less wealthy and generally less health aware. So Betty, I suppose you're ready.
36.根据前文“Have you ever found yourself in a tricky situation where someone is acting wrongly?(你有没有发
Here are four useful tips to help you correct others nicely
and gain their respect.(这里有四个有用的建议,可以帮助你很好地纠正别人,赢得他们的尊重。)”
此处指发现别人行为错误,想要纠正别人的错误,与空后“but the fear of making matters worse holds you
back(但害怕把事情弄得更糟的恐惧会让你退缩)”构成转折关系,选项 D“You might be eager to step in and set
things right(你可能急于介入纠正)”符合语境。故选 D。
37.根据上文“We often use our feelings to show we’re disappointed (我们经常用情绪表达失望)”及下文“For
example, would you listen to someone who’s shouting at you, or someone who’s calm? We’re all sensitive. If
you’re emotional when you correct someone, they might get defensive.(例如,你会听一个对你大喊大叫的人,
A“But this
usually doesn’t work well (但这种方法通常效果不佳)”符合语境,“this”指代上文中“use our feelings to show
we’re disappointed”。故选 A。
38.上文“focus on facts rather than opinions. Instead of saying someone is bad at something, tell them what you’ve
seen them do.
C“For example, don’t say ‘You’re so careless (例如,不要说‘你太粗心了’)”
以及下文“Say “I saw three reports left on the desk”(说‘我看到桌子上还留有三份报告’)”通过举例说明不要运
39.根据上文“Third, correct people in private. (第三,私下里纠正别人。)”指出要私下纠正别人错误;后文“If
you do, it might hurt their feelings and damage your relationship. Also, others might think less of you.(如果你这
G“Don’t do it in front of their friends or your workmates(不要当着他们的朋友或同事的面做)”
呼应“私下纠正”的建议,符合语境,下文中“you do”指代选项中的“do it in front of their friends or your
workmates”。故选 G。
40.上文“use the “sandwich” way. Start by saying something good about the person. Then, tell them what they
need to change. End by saying something positive again. For example, “You did a great job on that project. But we
need to be more careful with the numbers. I know you can do better next time”.(用‘三明治’的方式。
B“This makes the correction easier to take(这让纠正更容易

“a great

Two days later, Bilal’s grandparents started their journey. Bilal went along with them. After arriving at their
old house, which was large and open, they had dinner with their relatives. The next morning. Bilal went to the
fields, where the farmers greeted him warmly. Bilal wandered around the fields full of beautiful flowers and fruit
trees. He explored the cotton fields, learning how farmers harvest the crops. He also participated in the work.
Additionally, Bilal made friends with the village children and played outdoor games. He felt so interested in the
new experience that he didn’t even miss playing video games.
A week passed quickly and it was time for Bilal to return. He didn’t want to leave because he had started
enjoying the simple village life that brought him many new enriching experiences. His grandparents promised him
that they would return to the place annually or during his extended school breaks. On the journey back, Bilal
thought that coming to the village was the best thing that had happened to him. He had experienced a new lifestyle,
enjoyed quality time, and made wonderful memories — all without the internet!

Early Monday morning, Deputy Chief George Healy, who has devoted 34 years of service
to the city, was beginning an 18-hour drive to Disney with his family. As they traveled along the
Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, traffic came to a sudden stop, and Chief Healy noticed a serious
accident ahead.
Recognizing the signs of a fire, Healy sprang into action. “I jumped out of the car and
started running up the highway,” he stated. Healy arrived at the scene to find two vehicles
involved in the crash, with debris (碎片) spread across the road. The engine compartment of one
car was covered in flames (火焰), and the fire was spreading rapidly.
With the passenger door caved in and the fire intensifying, Healy quickly assessed the
situation and realized that a man was unconscious in the back seat. As the fire grew more
dangerous, Healy, along with a police officer who had arrived on the scene, broke the driver’s side
window and managed to open the door. Healy climbed into the back seat to find the man trapped
in his seat belt, completely unconscious.
The car was filling with smoke, and the fire threatened to consume the entire vehicle. “The
situation was rapidly worsening,” Healy said. “If I didn’t remove him in fairly short order, the fire
was going to consume the car.” With the help of the police officer, Healy successfully freed the
man and pulled him from the burning car, just in time.
“I’ve been doing this for 34 years. I knew there was no one there and if we didn’t do
something about this, the person wasn’t going to get out,” said Chief Healy. “When I went back to
my car, a couple of other drivers approached me and said ‘Man, you ran into that, what’ s wrong
with you?’ and I’m like, ‘I’m a New York City firefighter; that’s what New York City firefighters
do’.”
24.What was Healy doing when he saw the accident?
A.Returning home after visiting Disney. B.Driving his family to a park.
C.Taking a bus towards his office. D.Sitting and talking with his friend.
25.What can be used to describe the scene in paragraph 2?
A.Terrifying. B.Noticeable. C.Minor. D.Repairable.
26.How did Healy help the passenger out of the burning car?
A.By opening the door and called him out.
B.By asking the police officer to help him out.
C.By getting into the car and pulling him out.
D.By putting off the fire and opening the door.
27.What does Healy think of his saving the passenger?
A.It was his duty to do so. B.It was an occasional event.
C.He was afraid of his deeds. D.He felt grateful to the passenger.

Body language can be a very powerful tool, no matter the size of the audience. Whether it is
two people or two hundred people, body language can directly influence how audience members
see a speaker or respond to what is being said. Body language has the power to influence the
audience’s feelings and even change minds. Therefore, it is always important to be mindful of the
“saying” when engaging with different audiences.
Within interpersonal exchanges, body language can contain many different emotions or
signals. By ensuring that a person’s body language is “consistent” with their emotional state,
someone can create a safe environment for conversation to happen. If one’s body language is
inconsistent with their emotional state, this might leave an audience feeling uncomfortable, put off,
or on edge. They won’t know what to expect from that person.
For example, a person might want to make a listener feel “comfortable” and “laid back”
during a conversation. If this is the goal, they will avoid having “closed-off” or “unfriendly” body
language, such as avoiding eye contact or crossing their arms. To make somebody feel more
comfortable within a conversation, someone should focus on being “open” with their posture (姿
势). They should relax their face and make sure to hold the listener’s attention and face the listener
in an “open” position (e.g. with arms at their sides and slightly leaning (倾斜 ) towards the
listener).
More importantly, body language can influence whether or not an audience feels confident
or trusting of a speaker’s expertise. If a speaker’s body language comes across as being “nervous”
or “hesitant”, then an audience might not take what they are saying seriously or be less likely to
believe them or find them credible.
In summary, body language plays a key role in speaking. Effective use of body language
can also enhance the speaker’s message and engage the audience. On the contrary, poor body
language can detract from (影 响 ) the speaker’s message and create a passive impression.
Therefore, it is essential for speakers to pay attention to their body language and use it to their
advantage when delivering a speech.
28.What does the underlined words “the ‘saying’” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A.Making a speech. B.A response. C.Body language. D.An inner voice.
29.What should persons do to create a sense of safety for a conversation?
A.Have lower expectations of their audience.
B.Keep their body language true to their feelings.
C.Remain emotionally consistent with the audience.
D.Avoid exposing their inner emotions to the audience.
30.What might the act of crossing one’s arms lead to according to the text?
A.Relaxation. B.Optimism. C.Tension. D.Doubt.
31.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To offer suggestions on delivering a speech.
B.To show the benefits of using body language.
C.To point out improper types of body language.
D.To remind us to be careful with body language.

China says its maglev hyperloop train (磁悬浮超级高铁列车) has broken the world speed
record in a test run, reaching a surprising 623 km/h. Eventually, its makers want to build a train
more than three times as fast as one that will break the sound barrier and run faster than airplanes.
The maglev train, named the T-Flight, was built by the state-owned China Aerospace
Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), New Atlas reported. Hyperloop trains work by
pushing MLP (磁悬浮吊舱) through tunnels with very little air resistance. The previous record
holder for the fastest maglev train is the L0 Series SCMaglev in Japan, according to JRPass, which
can hit a top speed of 603 km/h.
To test the new train, CASIC built a track roughly 2 kilometers long in a low-pressure
vacuum (真空) tube. To reach such high speeds, the trains must encounter almost no friction (摩
So CASIC smoothed the test track to a flatness with a 0.3 millimeters tolerance, meaning
there is a 0.01-inch difference between the lowest and highest point of the flat surface. The
20-foot-wide tunnel also has geometric size error of less than 2 mm, meaning the margin of error
(误差幅度 ) against a perfect shape. The entire pipeline can return to normal pressure in five
minutes, which shows its surprisingly-restored ability.
In the T-Flight’s second phase of testing, CASIC aims to extend the track to 60 km and
allow the train to reach 1,000 km/h.
At this theoretical top speed, the maglev train would be even faster than a passenger jet,
which travels at an average range between 925 km/h and 966 km/h, according to Simple Flying.
The company’s ambitions don’t stop there, however, with plans for a connection between Wuhan
and Beijing that can reach up to 2,000 km/h, according to a video from 2018.
Hyperloop systems can move vehicles at speeds much faster than conventional trains —
most of which are restricted to 95 km/h in the U. S. Elon Musk first proposed a hyperloop system
for the U. S. in 2013, but more than a decade later, Musk’s vision has yet to see the light of day. As
one of the biggest companies in the industry, Virgin shut down its own hyperloop company, which
most recently went by the name Virgin Hyperloop in 2023.
32.What do we know about hyperloop trains from the first two paragraphs?
A.China’s T-Flight outpaces airplanes. B.T-Flight outspeeds SCMaglev by 20 km/h.
C.The first hyperloop train is made in Japan. D.They can merely travel without air friction.
33.What is prepared for testing the T-Flight?
A.A free-pressure tube. B.An absolute flat track.
C.A perfectly-shaped tunnel. D.A quickly-recovered pipeline.
34.Which can be used to describe China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation?
A.Ambitious and reliable. B.Conventional and practical.
C.State-owned and conservative. D.Advanced and international.
35.What is the best title of the passage?
A.CASIC: A Promising Company B.China: A Country Leading the Trend
C.T-Flight: A Potential Record-Breaker D.Hyperloop: A Globally Common Topic
Have you ever found yourself in a tricky situation where someone is acting wrongly?
36 , but the fear of making matters worse holds you back. It’s a common problem we all face.
Here are four useful tips to help you correct others nicely and gain their respect.
First, stay calm when you correct someone. How you say things matters more than what
you say. We often use our feelings to show we’re disappointed. 37 . For example, would you
listen to someone who’s shouting at you, or someone who’s calm? We’re all sensitive. If you’re
emotional when you correct someone, they might get defensive.
Second, focus on facts rather than opinions. Instead of saying someone is bad at something,
tell them what you’ve seen them do. 38 . Say “I saw three reports left on the desk”. This way,
you’re not attacking them. It gives them a chance to explain, and it helps you have a more
productive conversation.
Third, correct people in private. 39 . If you do, it might hurt their feelings and damage
your relationship. Also, others might think less of you. Correcting someone in public can make
you seem like a weak leader.
Fourth, use the “sandwich” way. Start by saying something good about the person. Then,
tell them what they need to change. End by saying something positive again. For example, “You
did a great job on that project. But we need to be more careful with the numbers. I know you can
do better next time”. 40 .
By following these tips, you can correct others in a better way. You’ll build better
relationships and achieve better results.
A.But this usually doesn’t work well
B.This makes the correction easier to take
C.For example, don’t say “You’re so careless”
D.You might be eager to step in and set things right
E.Opinions can sometimes be misleading and hurtful
F.It’s better to just ignore the small mistakes of others
G.Don’t do it in front of their friends or your workmates

The summer break had started. Bilal, a teenager, was excited to finally have the free time to
play video games on his PlayStation and endlessly surf the internet on his phone. The digital
world was his playground, a place where he could escape into adventures and challenges that kept
him entertained for hours on end.
His parents were tired of always trying to stop him, constantly telling him that spending so
much time online and on social media wasn’t good for his physical health. They worried about his
eyesight and the lack of physical activity. But Bilal never listened. He was very addicted to the
e-world. The appeal of virtual achievements and social interactions was too strong for him to
resist.
One day, after getting fed up, his mother discussed Bilal with his grandparents. “Is there
any way we can get him away from this internet world?” she asked, her voice filled with
desperation.
His grandfather replied, “Yes, there is a way. I am planning to visit our village for a week. I
am thinking of taking Bilal along. It will be a new experience for him to see a simple lifestyle.
Besides, the internet signals are very bad there, so he won’t be able to stay online very often.”
His mother was happy to hear this. “That’s a very good idea,” she replied, hopeful that this
could be the turning point for Bilal.
She excitedly went and shared it with Bilal, hoping he would be happy about going with his
grandparents, but he refused, saying the trip would be boring without the internet. “How would I
spend my days?” he complained.
Just then his grandmother entered the room and explained calmly to him that it would be an
exciting trip. She spoke of the beauty of nature, the joy of community, and the simple pleasures of
life away from screens. She told him stories of the village, of the stars at night and the fresh air
that filled the lungs with life.
