Passage A (1’*5=5’)
West Town Bike is a group that organizes local bike clubs for teenagers. It is based in Chicago. Teens at West Town Bike say that they enjoy biking, but biking in this city sometimes seems dangerous. Recently, these students have suggested a lot of solutions in order to make roads safer for bikers.
David Harb, a senior at Lane Tech High School, has learned hand signals from his father since he was 6. These simple movements tell drivers if a biker plans to turn or stop. “They’re like a secret language between riders and drivers.” David explained. Now riding to school daily, he strongly believes this skill should be taught in classrooms. “Why not start bike safety clubs?” he suggested. “Schools could have weekly classes showing students proper hand signals. No need for building new roads-just use your arms to stay safe.”
Christopher Garcia, a student from Lake View High School, has another idea. He thinks that the government should set up bike safety zones near busy crossroads. These zones could include clear markings and signs to guide bikers and warn drivers. “Drivers know they should slow down or stop when they see these signs.” Christopher explained. He even presented his design as an example. “If we add flashing lights and clear ‘Bike Zone’ signs at this busy crossroads near the school, students will pass through this area more safely.”
Jane Perez, a night rider from Lincoln High School, agrees it’s important for bikers to be noticed by drivers. Though her bike has three bright LED lights, many streets are still too dark and unsafe, “Many roads don’t have proper lighting.” she said. “We should add more bike-friendly streetlights, which can help drivers notice us from far away. This would be an efficient way to prevent accidents.”
11. According to David who should teach hand signals to teenagers?
A. Family members. B. Police officers.
C. Local bike clubs. D. Schools and teachers.
12. What does Christopher suggest to make biking safer?
A. Improving lighting in dark areas. B. Building more new roads for students.
C. Creating a safe area to protect the bikers. D. Helping drivers know if bikers want to turn.
13. What do all the students’ suggestions have in common?
A. They mainly focus on biking at night.
B. They need support from the government.
C. They think schools should take action immediately.
D. They include ways to help drivers notice the bikers.
14. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To encourage students to bike to school.
B. To attract teenagers to join West Town Bike.
C. To explain why biking in Chicago is dangerous.
D. To introduce students’ ideas on improving bike safety.
15. Where can we probably find this article?

Passage B (1’*5=5’)
One sunny day, the staff members of a zoo gathered in a small meeting room. Their faces were filled with worry as they were facing a rather difficult problem - the kangaroos were found outside their cage (笼子) again. The head zookeeper, Mr. Brown, cleared his throat and said, “We’ve got to figure this out. How on earth are these kangaroos getting out?” After much discussion, they came to the conclusion that the cage was built too low. A staff member suggested, “Let’s raise (增加) the height of the cage from 1 to 2 meters. That should stop them!” Everyone nodded in approval, and that very afternoon, they got to work.
However, to their great surprise, the next day, the kangaroos were still at large, moving around the zoo as if they owned the place. Mr. Brown was shocked, “How is this possible?” Without hesitation, they decided to raise the cage to 3 meters.
But the following morning, the kangaroos were still freely going about. The staff members were alarmed. They were determined to go to all lengths and do everything possible to solve the problem, and this time, they decided to raise the cage to 10 meters.
Later, a giraffe, who was biting some leaves, struck up a conversation with some kangaroos. The giraffe, with a curious look in its eyes, asked, “Do you think they will go on raising your cage?” One of the kangaroos, with a naughty smile, replied, “Hard to say. If they continue forgetting to close the cage door, they could raise it to a hundred meters, and we would still be out here having an excellent time!”
