A. the, a B. a, an C. the, an 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:——看,穿红色衣服的那个女士是谁?——她是我的新英语老师,有一个八岁的女儿。 C。 2. The key isn’t ________. It belongs to ________. A. her; Tom’s B. hers; Tom C. hers; Tom’s 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:这个钥匙不是她的。 B。 3. —Do you like the movie ________ is called The Battle at Lake Changjin? —Sure. A. will attend, is invited B. attends, will be invited C. will attend, invites 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】句意:——你介意告诉我他两天后是否会参加会议吗?——除非有人邀请,否则他不会参加的。 第一处if表示“是否”,引导宾语从句,结合“in two days”可知,用一般将来时“will do”,排除B;分析“He won’t, unless he...” A。 5. —How long may I ________ your magazine?. —For one week. But it mustn’t ________ to others. A. borrow; lend B. keep; be lent C. lend; be borrowed 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:——我可以保留杂志多久?——一周。 B。 6. When somebody volunteers, they are doing something good for others or the world around them without being paid. Volunteering comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be organized, such as working for an organization, or not organized, like helping your neighbors with their food shopping. Many people volunteer to help the environment by picking up rubbish or planting trees. Helping others can actually help yourself, too. Research has shown that volunteering improves your well-being. It can give you a sense of purpose (a meaningful goal to work towards) and then help build yourself-trust and make you feel motivated This is especially true if you match volunteering to your interests. Amy Meek, who volunteers for a wildlife organization, agrees. Amy loves animals, and by joining the wildlife organization, she has become much clearer about what she can do and feels more motivated. Volunteering can also influence your health. By giving something to others, you feel happier and this is good for your health. Volunteering has also been shown to reduce your personal worries because you pay some attention to others’ needs. Volunteering also offers you a chance to meet and connect with people, “which is good for our mental health ,” says Jolie Goodman of the Mental Health Foundation. So, what are you waiting for? Go volunteering and make a difference, not only for yourself but also for the world. 29. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about? A. What volunteering is. B. Why volunteering is good. C. However, eating too much junk food can harm your body, especially if you’re between the ages of 10 and 19. “Junk food shapes adolescent (青春期的) brains in ways that harm their ability to think, learn and remember,” said Amy Reichelt, a brain expert at Western University, Canada. Reichelt and two other researchers reviewed more than 100 studies about how poor food choices can influence adolescent brains. They found adolescents are more sensitive (敏感的) than any other age group to foods with a lot of fat and sugar, as their brains are not yet fully formed. Adolescent brains are still developing the ability to control themselves. The prefrontal cortex(前额皮质) is the part of the brain that helps us do this. However, it doesn’t fully develop until we are in our early 20s. Meanwhile, teen brains get more excited from rewards (奖励). The parts of the brain that make us feel good when we eat junk food are fully developed by the teen years. In fact, these areas are even more sensitive when we are young. Therefore, the teen brain has two strikes (攻击) against it when it comes to turning down junk food. Reichelt and her team started their own study by using mice, whose brains develop much like our own. They discovered that “teenage” mice that had a high-fat diet (饮食) performed worse on memory tests than those eating a normal diet. So, what’s the best way to say no to junk food? Researchers suggest exercise. When we exercise, the brain’s reward system becomes less sensitive to junk food. Exercise also helps our brains grow and become better able to make smart decisions. 37. The second paregraph is written to __________. A. describe what junk food is B. explain why teenagers like junk food C. explain how junk food can harm teen brains 38. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A. The ability to control oneself. B. The prefrontal cortex. C. The adolescent brain. 39. What might the study on mice show? A. Mice prefer high-fat diets just like humans. B. Human brains develop at a slower speed than the brains of mice. C. High-fat diets could harm our ability to deal with information. 40. According to the researchers, how can exercise help us refuse junk food? A. It makes the brain’s reward system more sensitive. B. It reduces the brain’s strong wish for junk food. C. B Volunteering is a great way to help others, whether it’s a child who has difficulty finishing his or her homework or an elderly person who feels lonely. C. How one can find volunteer work. 30. The writer mentioned Amy Meek in order to show _______. The boy was knocked down 16 times, yet each time he stood up, determined to face the challenge. The coach turned to the father and asked, “Do you think your son’s performance shows courage?” The father, feeling ashamed (羞愧的), replied, “I’m so disappointed. I never expected that after sending him here for three months of training, he would still get knocked down so easily. The coach shook his head and said, ” I really feel sorry for you. You’re missing the point. You only see the falls, the superficial (表面上的) winning or losing. Don’t you see the courage and tenacity (韧性) of your son to get up each time? That’s true strength. Therefore the teen brain has two strikes (攻击) against it when it comes to turning down junk food. Reichelt and her team started their own study by using mice whose brains develop much like our own. C. It slows down the brains’ activity. On March 4th, after 10 years of difficult talks, nearly 200 countries agreed to a new UN agreement—the High Seas Protection.
