How to Be a Good Learner
To be good learners, we should have good study habits. What good habits should we have?
Before class, we should get ready for lessons and work hard. In class, we should listen to the teachers carefully and take notes. After class, we should review what we have learned and finish our homework on time. Reading more books can broaden our horizons. If we have some problems, we had better ask the teachers for help. Besides, we should learn to work with others and learn from each other. In addition, we should be confident and never give up easily.
I hope all these will be helpful to you.

Black bears can weigh more than 500 kilograms. They eat both meat and plants, but nearly three-quarters of their food is plants. What’s the fastest and most effective way to learn? What’s the LEARNING PYRAMID’s secret to remembering what you learn?
The “learning pyramid” suggests that most students only remember 5% from lectures (讲授). They remember 10% of what they read from textbooks, but get nearly 90% of what they learn through teaching others. The most common form of teaching others is Peer Tutoring (同伴辅导). It means that we teach each other and help each other. We like peer tutoring because it makes learning more exciting and it makes us feel like we are part of a team. To do peer tutoring we can take turns to the teacher one by one. The teacher explains a subject, and the student tries to understand it. If the student doesn’t get it right away, the teacher helps them understand it. It’s important to ask questions and give positive feedback (反馈) to each other. Then, they can both learn and have fun at the same time.
Peer tutoring is really good for our brains because it helps us remember things better. When we teach others, we have to think about it really hard to make sure we explain it right. And when others teach us, we need to listen carefully and try to understand what they’re saying. This helps us learn better.
So if you’re looking for a way to make learning more fun and effective, try peer tutoring!

Mrs. Moss has serious hearing loss. Her world has always been silent. Living alone in a town in England, she has often been lonely.
Then one day in 2021, while Moss was reading the local newspaper, a photo of a lovely cat caught her eye. A family was looking for a home for their new-born kitten. Moss immediately fell in love with the cat and contacted the family. She soon brought the cat home and named it Zebby.

Black bears can weigh more than 500 kilograms. They eat both meat and plants, but nearly three-quarters of their food is plants. This causes a problem for black bears living in the parts of North America where winter lasts for many months. The plants die off during the winter, and there isn’t enough to eat. So, what do black bears do to stay alive during the winter? They hibernate—they sleep through the winter months. How do they do it and why don’t they starve to death (饿死) during this time?
There is much to do before black bears fall asleep. For weeks, they eat, and eat, and eat. The bear gets fatter and fatter as the autumn turns to winter. Then, the bear goes to its sleeping place.
As the bear falls asleep, its heart rate (心率) and breathing slow down. Soon, it is fast asleep. It’s able to stay alive during this long sleep because of its fat. Female (雌性的) bears have their babies while they are hibernating. The babies feed on their mother’s milk. The sleeping bear even gets some exercise during this long hibernation. Every day, the bear’s whole body begins to shake. It shakes in a way that makes every muscle (肌肉) work.

Moss had heard about studies showing that pets can help people deal with loneliness. However, she had no idea that Zebby would become her helper and her ears. From their very first night together, Zebby has slept next to her. When he hears noises in the dark, he jumps up.“He has become my night watch cat,” Moss said. “Sometimes he runs around the room until I wake up.”
After a few weeks, Moss noticed that whenever her phone rang or someone knocked at the door, Zebby would tap (轻轻地敲) her. Later, Zebby started collecting Moss’s mails. Now,whenever he hears the mailbox being opened, he runs towards it, carries the mail in his mouth and drops it at Moss’s feet.
In July 2023, Zebby was named Britain’s National Cat of the Year by a cat charity in the U. K. Moss was surprised at the news, Zebby beat out about 3,000 other cats because of the many ways he helps Moss. He hasn’t been sent to a school for training at all, but he seems to know that his owner needs his help.
“Zebby has made my house a home,” Moss said. “I can hardly imagine not having Zebby in my life now.”

As the long winter ends, black bears begin to wake up. Imagine how hungry they are! There are new plants and berries everywhere. The bears eat and eat to get back all the weight they lost while sleeping.
Nature is perfect in many ways!
