B When thinking of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctors one might picture an elderly man with a long beard sitting in front of a medicine chest. However, He Suye, a young and talented physician in the latest medical-romance drama The Best Thing, challenges that traditional image. Played by the 27-year-old actor Zhang Linghe, Mr. He is a professional TCM specialist with a gentle personality, but outside of work. he enjoys hobbies like skateboarding and malatang, a type of hotpot, reshaping common views of TCM doctors. The Best Thing follows Shen Xifan, a hotel manager suffering from frequent headaches and trouble sleeping. In her search for a cure, she meets Mr. He, and their relationship deepens through medical consultations. To play a genuine TCM practitioner, Zhang studied Chinese medicine with practicing physicians, learning traditional diagnostic (诊断的) and treatment methods. This process helped him gain a deeper appreciation for TCM’s integrated philosophy, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and environment, viewing health as a balance between these elements. The drama creatively integrates TCM knowledge by naming each episode after a type of Chinese herbal medicine, connecting TCM’s healing methods to the storyline. For example, in one episode, Mr. He performs “wet cupping” to treat a breathing emergency, showcasing TCM’s role in critical care. The drama particularly appeals to younger viewers. With the growing integration of TCM and Western medicine, as well as expanding international exchanges, TCM practitioners and students now have more diverse career opportunities. For instance, acupuncture (针灸) is now covered in health insurance plans in many countries. Zhang Linghe believes that passion is the driving force behind a successful career - just like his character, He, who remains committed to his path in TCM despite numerous challenges, including initial opposition from his father. Zhang hopes to introduce TCM to a global audience, especially younger generations, through the drama’s release on international platforms. 4. What do we know about He Suye? A. He challenges the principles of TCM. B. He is an actor starring in The Best Thing. C. He presents a modern image of a TCM doctor. D. He has the same hobbies as other TCM doctors. 5. Why did Zhang Linghe learn TCM techniques? A To prepare for the role. B. To treat his own illnesses. C. To become a practicing physician. D. To appreciate TCM’s philosophy. 6. What is the author’s purpose in mentioning acupuncture? A. To explain the diverse changes in future careers. B. To demonstrate TCM’s international recognition. C. To show the drama’s popularity among younger viewers. D. To emphasize TCM’s advantages over Western medicine. 7. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. A Traditional Approach to TCM B. A New Vision for TCM’s Future C. Exploring the Ancient Roots of TCM D. Redefining TCM for a Global Audience C A watched pot never boils, but time has wings when you’re having fun. The familiar saying has a basis in solid science — our sense of time does expand and contract depending on the way we experience the world. Even delicate visual features can affect how we perceive time. New research shows more memorable images seem to last longer. Martin Wiener, head of the research, says the finding helps reveal how the brain’s time-bending strategy allows it to process and remember more information. While what is actually happening in the brain when time seems to expand remains unclear, scientists suspect it may have something to do with helping the brain process more information in limited time. This is especially relevant for the brain’s visual system which, subjected to information overload, has to rank in order of importance, allowing for limited resources. Recent research has shown some images are more naturally memorable than others. To understand how this memorability of an image, along with a few simpler visual features such as scene size and disorder, might relate to our subjective sense of time, Wiener and his colleagues conducted related experiments, in which subjects were shown images with varying durations and were asked to categorize whether the length of time on the screen was either “short” or “long”. The next day they were given a surprise memory test to see which images they recalled seeing. The researchers found larger scene sizes seemed to extend time while more disorderly scenes seemed to contract it. Besides, the subjects perceived more memorable images remained on the screen longer, even if they were all presented for the same amount of time. To find the underlying factor, the team fed the same memorability-ranked images to a neural (神经的) network modeled after the brain’s visual system and found more memorable images were processed faster. The explanation for why our brain’s faster processing would slow time is that it’s increasing the amount of information it can take in at once. Limited resources to process information may act as a sort of bottleneck, which the brain can widen when it needs to absorb more information, thus dilating time. 8. What does the saying “A watched pot never boils” describe? A. The unnoticed passage of time B. The feeling that time hangs heavy. C. The hardship of preparing cuisine. D. The perception that time is confusing. 9. How does the brain’s visual system handle information? A. By setting priorities. B. By comparing similar scenes. C. By sorting randomly. D. By screening out complex images. 10. Which of the images seems to last longest if shown on the screen for an equal duration based on the study? A. B. C. D. 11. What does the underlined word “dilating” in the last paragraph mean? A. Using up. B. Cutting down. C. Stretching out. D. Clearing away. D It appears that language can have a fascinating effect on the way we think about time and space. A growing number of experts believe language can influence how we think just as our thoughts and culture can shape how language develops. Cognitive scientist Lera Boroditsky, one of the pioneers of research into how language influences our thoughts, has shown that in English and many other European languages, people typically view the past as being behind us and the future in front of us. But in Aymara, spoken by the Aymara people who live in the Andes in Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Argentina, the word for future means “behind time”. And when the Aymara talk about the future, they tend to make backward gestures, whereas people who speak Spanish, for example, view the future as being ahead of them and make forward gestures. Languages also encode time in their grammar. In English, for example, the future is one of three simple tenses, along with the past and the present — we say “it rained”, “it rains” and “it will rain”. But in German, you can say Morgen regnet, which means “it rains tomorrow” — you don't need to build the future into the grammar. The same is true for many other languages, including Mandarin (普通话). But does this affect how we think? In 2013, Keith Chen, a behavioral economist at the University of California, Los Angeles, set out to test whether people who speak languages that are “futureless”might feel closer to the future than those who…leak other languages. And he discovered that speakers of futureless languages were more likely to engage in future-focused activities. They were 31% more likely to have put money into savings in any given year and had accumulated 39%more wealth by retirement. They were also 24% less likely to smoke,29% more likely to be physically active, and 13% less likely to be medically obese (肥胖的). This result held even when controlling for factors such as socioeconomic status and religion. It is becoming increasingly clear that language is influencing how we think about the world around us and our passage through it. And while being multilingual won't necessarily make us a genius, we all can gain a fresh perspective and a more flexible understanding of the world by learning a new language. 12. How do people in English-speaking countries and the Aymara view the word for future? A. Both see it as being ahead. B. Both see it as being behind. C. English speakers see it behind, while Aymara see it ahead. D. English speakers see it ahead, while Aymara see it behind. 13. What idea did Keith Chen's research start from? A. Multilingual people have a wider view of the future. B. Cultural differences mainly shape future-oriented behavior. C. Language affects how people see and interact with the future. D. Languages with future tense make people more forward-thinking. 14. According to Keith Chen, which behavior is more typical among “futureless” language speakers? A. Ignoring health advice. B. Leading an inactive life. C. Saving money for the future. D. Spending money without thinking. 15. What's the author's main point in the last paragraph? A. Language study should focus on grammar. B. Learning a new language broadens your world view. C. Learning multiple languages can make one a genius. D. Language learning is key for cross-cultural communication. Getting information out of a teenage boy can be difficult. I was there to buy my grandmother’s hearing aid batteries. More importantly, this was my chance to visit the love of my life — Artie. I ran to the shelf he was on, and there he was, right where I last saw him: a grey little guy with a large mouth that fit perfectly over my shoulder as I hugged him tightly. I adored that stuffed dolphin. As I held Artie, Mrs. Lehman, who had always been kind to me, passed by and smiled knowingly, “Hugging that dolphin again, huh?” But my brother, Rick, noticed I took a long time in Lehman’s, saying, “You are a thirteen-year-old girl now. You are supposed to be quicker. Next time, I will go with you.” Oh, great! My brother, Rick. He always laughed at me. But I wouldn’t give up. So, as we walked into the store, I suggested to Rick that he get the batteries, since he was older. Then I headed towards Artie. There he was, awaiting me. I grabbed him and hugged him tightly. Just then, I heard Rick saying, “What in the world are you doing?” “This is Artie,” I said. “I hug him every single time I come here. I can’t afford it so I hope he doesn’t get sold because I just love this little guy.” The look on Rick’s face was unreadable, but I knew deep down that he wasn’t going to make fun of me. In fact, a few times when he accompanied me to Lehman’s, he said, “go on and hug your dolphin, if it’s still there.” One day, Rick was not home, so I went to Lehman’s alone. I went straight to Artie’s shelf. But he was gone. I searched every shelf but couldn’t find him. Suddenly, a voice from the counter interrupted my search. It was Mrs. Lehman herself. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To my surprise, I found a box lying on my bed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 临澧一中2025届高三 模拟考试试卷 英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. A. To prepare for the role. 故选A。 根据第四段“With the growing integration of TCM and Western medicine, as well as expanding international exchanges, TCM practitioners and students now have more diverse career opportunities. For instance, acupuncture (针灸) is now covered in health insurance plans in many countries. 根据第一段“However, He Suye, a young and talented physician in the latest medical-romance drama The Best Thing, challenges that traditional image. Played by the 27-year-old actor Zhang Linghe, Mr. He is a professional TCM specialist with a gentle personality, but outside of work. he enjoys hobbies like skateboarding and malatang, a type of hotpot, reshaping common views of TCM doctors. D。 C A watched pot never boils, but time has wings when you’re having fun. B 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第一段“A watched pot never boils, but time has wings when you’re having fun. The familiar saying has a basis in solid science — our sense of time does expand and contract depending on the way we experience the world. Even delicate visual features can affect how we perceive time.(心急锅不开,但当你开心的时候,时间就会飞起来。 根据第三段“This is especially relevant for the brain’s visual system which, subjected to information overload, has to rank in order of importance, allowing for limited resources.(这对大脑的视觉系统尤其重要,因为大脑的视觉系统受到信息过载的影响,考虑到有限的资源,必须按照重要性排序)”可知,大脑的视觉系统通过设定优先级处理信息。故选A。 根据倒数第二段“The researchers found larger scene sizes seemed to extend time while more disorderly scenes seemed to contract it. Besides, the subjects perceived more memorable images remained on the screen longer, even if they were all presented for the same amount of time.(研究人员发现,更大的场景似乎会延长时间,而更混乱的场景似乎会缩短时间。 根据划线词上文“Limited resources to process information may act as a sort of bottleneck, which the brain can widen when it needs to absorb more information(处理信息的资源有限可能会成为一种瓶颈,当大脑需要吸收更多信息时,它可以扩大瓶颈,从而)”可知,处理信息的资源有限可能会成为一种瓶颈,所以扩大瓶颈就可以延长时间,故划线词意思是“延长”。故选C。 D It appears that language can have a fascinating effect on the way we think about time and space. C. English speakers see it behind while Aymara see it ahead. D 13. C 14. C 15. 根据第二段“Cognitive scientist Lera Boroditsky, one of the pioneers of research into how language influences our thoughts, has shown that in English and many other European languages, people typically view the past as being behind us and the future in front of us. 根据第四段前两句“But does this affect how we think? In 2013, Keith Chen, a behavioral economist at the University of California, Los Angeles, set out to test whether people who speak languages that are "futureless" might feel closer to the future than those who …leak other languages. 根据第四段中的“And he discovered that speakers of futureless languages were more likely to engage in future-focused activities. They were 31% more likely to have put money into savings in any given year and had accumulated 39% more wealth by retirement. 根据最后一段最后一句“And while being multilingual won't necessarily make us a genius, we all can gain a fresh perspective and a more flexible understanding of the world by learning a new language. Getting information out of a teenage boy can be difficult. As one fan said, “It’s like ____45____(watch) the future and past dance together!” 空白处在句子中作宾语,使用名词,因此处为泛指,手帕不止一个,handkerchief是可数名词,所以用其复数形式handkerchiefs/handkerchieves,故填handkerchiefs/handkerchieves。 分析句子结构,此处连接两个并列的句子,“Young viewers called it “cool”(年轻观众称它“很酷”)”和“older audiences loved its humor and festive spirit(年长的观众喜欢它的幽默和节日气氛)”之间是对比关系,所以用while连接,表示“然而”,故填while。 a mix of为固定短语,含义为“…… Hello, everyone! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Possible versions: 参考范文一: Hello, everyone! If I could travel back to ancient times and bring one modern item, I’d bring a solar-powered flashlight. It is a lighting device that uses solar energy to charge its batteries. When exposed to sunlight, the solar panel will convert the light energy into electrical energy, which is then stored in the flashlight’s batteries. In ancient times, lighting was often limited to torches, candles, or oil lamps, which were inconvenient and carried the risk of fire. A solar-powered flashlight would provide a clean and long-lasting source of light, reducing the reliance on flammable materials. Besides, it would enable ancient people to engage in a wider variety of activities, such as traveling at night or working in dark places. Just imagine how amazed people would be to see such a useful device! Hello, everyone! If allowed to bring one modern item to ancient times, I would choose the tiny infection-fighting medicine — small in size yet powerful in impact. In times when minor wounds often led to deaths due to poor medical care, this portable medicine could save lives by preventing deadly infections caused by battle injuries or common illnesses. Additionally, it would inspire deeper medical exploration. Once the basic production methods are shared, people might advance their understanding of disease prevention, potentially reshaping health practices throughout history. In short, antibiotics represents hope and progress. They not only address immediate survival needs but also plant early seeds for scientific curiosity that could blossom into groundbreaking discoveries. Thank you! 词汇积累 减少:reduce→cut down 装备:device→equipment 惊讶的:amazed→surprised 此外:besides→in addition 2. A solar-powered flashlight would provide a clean and long-lasting source of light, reducing the reliance on flammable materials. A solar-powered flashlight would provide a clean and long-lasting source of light, which can reducing the reliance on flammable materials. 1】If I could travel back to ancient times and bring one modern item, I’d bring a solar-powered flashlight.(运用了if引导条件状语从句) 【高分句型2】When exposed to sunlight, the solar panel will convert the light energy into electrical energy, which is then stored in the flashlight’s batteries.(运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. I hurried into Lehman’s grocery store. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】It was Mrs. Lehman herself. She leaned over the counter, her eyes crinkling with warmth. “Looking for your little friend, dear? A young man bought him yesterday. Said something about ‘saving him from shelf limbo’.” My heart sank. Before I could ask more, she added, “He left this note for you.” Hand trembling, I unfolded the paper: “Check your bed at noon. — R.” Glancing at the clock — 11:55 a.m. — I bolted home, confusion and hope tangled in my chest. To my surprise, I found a box lying on my bed. A familiar floppy fin peeked through the ribbon. Tears blurred my vision as I cradled Artie, his soft fur pressing against my cheek. Beneath him lay another note: “Even pirates need first mates. Don’t drown him in your tears. — Captain Rick.” Laughter bubbled through my sniffles. From the doorway, Rick grumbled, “You’re gonna wear his stitching out,” but his ears flushed pink. That night, Artie guarded my pillow, while Rick’s snores echoed from the next room — a gruff lullaby of unexpected love. 词汇激活 行为类 ①买:bought/purchase ②颤抖:tremble/shake ③保护:guard/shield 情绪类 ①困惑:confusion/bewilderment ②爱:love/affection 【点睛】[高分句型1]She leaned over the counter, her eyes crinkling with warmth.(运用了“名词+现在分词”构成的独立主格) [高分句型2]Tears blurred my vision as I cradled Artie, his soft fur pressing against my cheek.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句和“名词+现在分词”构成的独立主格) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
