These foods can be healthy, but only when you don’t overdo it. Nuts Nuts are an extraordinary source of healthy fats, which can be beneficial for maintaining a healthy heart. Despite the benefits, nuts are so percent fat and high in calories. Adding a few handfuls to your daily diet to replace unhealthy fats is ideal, but do not cat too much. Cheese Cheese (along with most dairy products) is a good source of calcium (钙) and protein (蛋白质), which can advance healthy bone development and heart strength. However, eating too much cheese is harmful to your health and actually cancels out any health benefits. And remember to select varieties that are lower in sodium and fat. Bottled Green Juices All-natural green juices are a healthy way to get the daily doses (剂量) of fruit and vegetables that most of us forget about. However, most bottled green juices are extraordinarily high in sugar, which can take away the health benefits that natural versions promise. When selecting a juice, make sure to keep an eye on the amount of sugar in each. 1. What do nuts and cheese have in common? A. Both are high in calories. B. Both are good for heart. C. Both are helpful in weight loss. D. Both are popular snacks. 2. What might be the main concern about bottled green juices according to the text? A. They are not fresh. B. They are expensive. C. They are not natural. D. They are high in sugar. 3. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To introduce healthy foods. B. To guide food selection. C. To warn of overeating risks. D. To compare food benefits. B 2. D 3. 根据Nuts部分“Nuts are an extraordinary source of healthy fats, which can be beneficial for maintaining a healthy heart.(坚果是健康脂肪的重要来源,对保持心脏健康有益。)”和Cheese部分“Cheese (along with most dairy products) is a good source of calcium (钙) and protein (蛋白质), which can advance healthy bone development and heart strength.(奶酪(以及大多数乳制品)是钙和蛋白质的良好来源,可以促进骨骼健康发育和心脏力量。)” 根据Bottled Green Juices部分“However, most bottled green juices are extraordinarily high in sugar, which can take away the health benefits that natural versions promise.(然而,大多数瓶装绿色果汁含糖量极高,这可能会带走天然果汁所承诺的健康益处。)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“When it comes to food, you really can have too much of a good thing. These foods can be healthy, but only when you don’t overdo it.(说到食物,你真的可以吃太多好东西。这些食物是健康的,但前提是你不要吃太多。)”可知,本文主要讲的是关于食物摄入量的适度原则,即使某些食物本身很健康,过量摄入也会带来负面影响,因此本文的主要目的是警告吃太多的风险。故选C。 B Cecily has always loved her baby dolls. When she was six, she needed them more than ever: She had to go through brain-cancer operations and MRI scans (核磁共振扫描), but she couldn’t take her favourite dolls with her into MRI machine because they had metal in them. So Cecily and her mom - a home-schooler of seven kids and a professional doll maker made a special doll, using weighted glass and other MRI-safe materials, that could stay with Cecily during the long imaging appointments. The doll was also unique in that it had no facial features. “That’s so they can have any emotion,” says Cecily, who was inspired to create these dolls, called “Blessing Babies”, for other sick kids. She and her mom began making more, donating some to children’s hospitals and selling others to fundraise. Soon, doll makers worldwide also began contributing, sending boxes of their handmade dolls to support the cause. Cecily began selling handmade plush puppies and inspirational clothing patches (徽章), in addition to running toy drives and fundraisers for various charities. Including money and gift donations, Cecily has raised more than $2, 00, 000 so far. Today Cecily calls herself a brain-cancer survivor and “childhood cancer awareness fighter,” but she is still followed closely by her team at the children’s hospital. When asked for advice on successful fundraising, she stresses the importance of generosity. “You don’t get poor by giving,” Cecily says. “Because you always get something back, one way or another.” 4. Why did Cecily and her mother make the special doll in the beginning? A. To sell it for money. B. To cheer up Cecily’s fellow patients. C. To donate it to a charity. D. To keep Cecily company during scans. 5. In what way are “Blessing Babies” different from other dolls? A. They wear no expressions on their faces. B. They are designed by famous companies. C. They can reduce sick children’s physical pain. D. They are made of environmentally friendly materials. 6. What do the underlined words “toy drives” in paragraph 4 probably refer to? A. Toy-selling shops. B. Toy-producing companies. C. Toy-collecting events. D. Toy-designing businesses. 7. What message do Cecily’s words convey in the last paragraph? A. A good deed is never lost. B. Two heads are better than one. C. A friend in need is a friend indeed. D. Where there is a will, there is a way. D 5. A 6. C 7. 根据第一段第二句“She had to go through brain-cancer operations and MRI scans, but she couldn’t take her favourite dolls with her into MRI machine because they had metal in them. (她不得不经历脑癌手术和核磁共振扫描,但她无法将她最喜欢的娃娃带进核磁共振仪器,因为娃娃中含有金属。)”可知,Cecily在进行脑癌手术和核磁共振扫描时,无法携带她最喜欢的娃娃,因为这些娃娃含有金属。而这个特殊娃娃,使用了对核磁共振安全的材料,以便在扫描期间陪伴。故选D项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段第一句“The doll was also unique in that it had no facial features. (这个娃娃的独特之处在于它没有面部特征。)”可知,“Blessing Babies”与其他娃娃的不同之处在于它们没有面部表情。故选A项。 根据第四段第三句“Including money and gift donations, Cecily has raised more than $2, 00, 000 so far. (包括现金和礼物捐赠在内,Cecily目前已筹集了超过200万美元。)”可知,这一句是对上一句中“toy drives and fundraisers”的具体举例说明,由此可推知“gift donations”(礼物捐赠)这个行为即为对“toy drives”的解释说明。故选C项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段最后两句““You don’t get poor by giving,” Cecily says. “Because you always get something back, one way or another.” (“给予并不会让你变穷,”Cecily说道,“因为你总会以某种方式得到回报。”)”可知,Cecily认为善行总会以某种其它的方式回报你。故选A项。 C In a remote part of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, river transport is far more common than road travel. Here, boats move along the Wichimi River, a wide channel that snakes through the thick plants, and powering the silent boats is the Ecuadorian sunshine. The boats have been provided by Kara Solar, a non-profit organization based in the region. The Achuar here are responsible for fixing, running and maintaining the boats — the solar boats are shaping daily life for the community by offering transport for education, health services and eco-tourism. For years, many Achuar have used gasoline-powered boats on the river, but the oil must be flown in by plane from Ecuador’ s capital, Quito, making it more expensive and adding to the carbon emissions (碳排放) connected with its use. “Gasoline motors use a lot of oil and pollute the river,” said Angel Wasump, Kara Solar’s director of operations and a member of the Achuar community. “Since the solar boats arrived, families have been giving up these motors completely,” he added. Formally launched in 2018, Kara Solar is staffed by members of the Achua r community. According to the organization, the boats operating in Ecuador have completed over 300 trips in total, carrying over 1,000 passengers and traveling over 450 kilometers per month. The most common uses are transporting local children to and from school and providing wildlife tours for eco-tourists. As well as reducing carbon emissions and pollution, the silent boats mean eco-tourists can get a closer view of wildlife without scaring it away. “The boat serves as a symbol of what eco-friendliness could look like,” said Wasump. “It’s like a return to what’s most important in Achuar culture. These boats have represented a way for us to reconnect with this vision of what development could look like.” 8. What can we learn about the Achuar from the first two paragraphs? A. They mostly earn their living by fishing. B. They depend much on boats in their lives. C. They are enthusiastic about voluntary work. D. They have little contact with the outside world. 9. What is a reason for the introduction of the solar boats? A. They travel faster. B. They are easy to operate. C. They are cost-effective. D. They carry more passengers. 10. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The features of the solar boats. B. The applications of the solar boats. C. The effects of the solar boats on people’s lives. D. The advantages of the solar boats over traditional ones. 11. What does Wasump intend to stress in the last paragraph? A. Cultural difference. B. Community spirit. C. Environmental awareness. D. Technological development. B 9. C 10. B 11. 根据文章第二段中“The Achuar here are responsible for fixing, running and maintaining the boats — the solar boats are shaping daily life for the community by offering transport for education, health services and eco-tourism.(这里的阿查乌族人负责修理、运行和维护这些船——这些太阳能船通过为教育、卫生服务和生态旅游提供交通工具,正在塑造社区的日常生活)”可知,阿查乌族社区人民的生活很大程度上依赖于船。 根据文章第三段中“For years, many Achuar have used gasoline-powered boats on the river, but the oil must be flown in by plane from Ecuador’s capital, Quito, making it more expensive and adding to the carbon emissions (碳排放) connected with its use.(多年来,许多阿查乌族社区人民在这条河上使用汽油船,但石油必须从厄瓜多尔首都基多(Quito)用飞机运来,这使得石油成本更高,并增加了与使用相关的碳排放)”及““Since the solar boats arrived, families have been giving up these motors completely,” he added.(他补充说:“自从太阳能船抵达后,很多家庭都完全放弃了这些发动机。”)” 根据文章第四段中“According to the organization, the boats operating in Ecuador have completed over 300 trips in total, carrying over 1,000 passengers and traveling over 450 kilometers per month. The most common uses are transporting local children to and from school and providing wildlife tours for eco-tourists.(据该组织称,在厄瓜多尔运营的船只总共完成了300多次航行,载客超过1000人,每月航行超过450公里。最常见的用途是接送当地儿童上下学,为生态游客提供野生动物观光)”可知,第四段主要介绍了太阳能船的应用。故选B。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中““The boat serves as a symbol of what eco-friendliness could look like,” said Wasump.(“这艘船是生态友好的象征,”Wasump说)”可知,Wasump想强调一种环保意识。故选C。 D Feeling bad after a favorite show ends is common, and it even has an informal name: post-series depression (PSD). Rita Kottasz, a marketing professor at Kingston University, describes PSD as “a feeling of emptiness and upset when something you love finishes”. This experience can be found in TV shows, books, or video games, creating a desire for more. The idea of PSD gained popularity on social media and fan blogs in the mid-2010s, especially during the Golden Age of TV. Kottasz prefers not to use the name PSD, instead calling it “consumer saudade”, a Portuguese word meaning nostalgic (怀旧的) longing. However, a journal editor told her to use PSD because it's widely used outside of research. Kottasz and her co-workers published research dividing the types of PSD based on interviews with fans who felt sad after their favorite things ended. Common emotions included frustration, disappointment, sadness, and emptiness. Some fans even felt that life was less complete or that they had lost “best friends”. While PSD is often connected to TV shows, Kottasz is exploring its connection to other media, such as the sudden break of K-pop band BTS (防弹少年团) and novels like Harry Potter. Younger people are more influenced than older ones, partially because companies like Netflix are always giving viewers new movies and shows. What might surprise many people is that binge-watching does not seem to cause PSD. Instead, long-term watching may be a factor. Kottasz thinks watching a show over several seasons or reading novels across many years strengthens a person’s relationship to the characters (人物). In her 2019 paper, she said a Harry Potter fan who started reading the series at age 9 was "sadly left behind" after the final book and film were published years later. But it isn’t quite as simple as saying the end of a show or novel controls our emotion. Brian Kong, a Chicago-based psychologist, is worried that PSD might not imply (暗示) a cause and effect relationship between low moods and a program’s end. Instead, he says that when viewers experience lasting bad feelings, watching TV might be acting as an anesthetic (麻醉剂) for a deeper mental problem, like how some people with anxiety drink alcohol. In other words, the low mood already existed, and watching the series only masked it. 12. Which of the following is a common response among fans experiencing PSD? A. A fresh sense of purpose for life. B. A deep satisfaction after the show. C. A great sense of loss of best friends. D. A strong desire for a new hobby. 13. What does the underlined word “binge-watching” in Paragraph 5 mean? A. Reviewing every detail of a TV show day and night. B. Watching many episodes (集) of a TV show at one time. C. Following the episodes of a TV show for a long time. D. Reading a book series while watching the TV adaptation (改编版). 14. What does Brian Kong imply in the last paragraph? A. PSD covers up a deeper mental problem. B. Viewers with bad feelings like drinking alcohol. C. Watching TV is the main cause of low moods. D. Watching TV series can make mental problems worse. 15. What might the following paragraphs focus on? A. The solutions to post-series depression. B. The marketing (营销) strategies of TV shows. C. The difference between PSD and nostalgia. D. The influence of social media on fan emotions. C 13. B 14. A 15. 根据第三段中“Some fans even felt that life was less complete or that they had lost ‘best friends’.(一些粉丝甚至觉得生活变得不完整了,或者感觉失去了‘最好的朋友’)”可知,经历剧终抑郁的粉丝常见的反应之一是有失去最好朋友般的强烈失落感。 根据第五段中“What might surprise many people is that binge-watching does not seem to cause PSD. Instead, long-term watching may be a factor.(让很多人惊讶的是, binge-watching似乎并不会导致剧终抑郁。相反,长期观看可能是一个因素)”可知,binge-watching与“长期观看”是不同的观看方式,结合常识可推测其意为“一次性观看多集电视剧”。 故选B。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Brian Kong, a Chicago-based psychologist, is worried that PSD might not imply ( 暗示 ) a cause and effect relationship between low moods and a program’s end. Instead, he says that when viewers experiencing lasting bad feelings, watching TV might be acting as an anesthetic (麻醉剂) for a deeper mental problem, like how some people with anxiety drink alcohol. In other words, the low mood already existed, and watching the series only masked it.(芝加哥心理学家布莱恩・孔担心,剧集结束后低落情绪(PSD)或许无法说明低落情绪与剧集完结之间存在因果关系。他表示,相反,当观众正经历持续的不良情绪时,看电视可能只是在为某个更深层的心理问题充当 “麻醉剂”—— 就像有些焦虑症患者会借酒消愁一样。换句话说,低落情绪早已存在,观看电视剧只是将其掩盖了而已)”可知,PSD可能掩盖了更深层次的心理问题,看电视只是起到一种麻醉作用,而负面情绪原本就存在。故选A。 根据最后一段中“Brian Kong, a Chicago-based psychologist, is worried that PSD might not imply ( 暗示 ) a cause and effect relationship between low moods and a program’s end. Instead, he says that when viewers experiencing lasting bad feelings, watching TV might be acting as an anesthetic (麻醉剂) for a deeper mental problem, like how some people with anxiety drink alcohol. In the classroom of Class 7, Grade 8, students were excited about an upcoming event. The school had organized a speech competition titled “Ways to Become Successful,” and many students were eager to showcase their public speaking skills. Among them was 13-year-old Zora, who, had already won two speech contests and was full of confidence that she could win again. Zora volunteered to represent her class in the competition, and after a round of voting, she was chosen as the class representative. Although there were only seven days left until the big day, Zora felt a sense of ease about the competition. After all, she had been here before and knew what it took to win. At home, Zora’s father congratulated her on her achievement, while her mother reminded her to take the competition seriously. Despite her parents’ advice, Zora was convinced that her past successes meant this would be a walk in the park. Her teacher also urged her to prepare diligently, but Zora only sought help once to revise her initial draft. As the days went by, Zora did not put in the necessary effort to refine her speech. When the day of the competition arrived, she was hit with a sudden wave of panic. She couldn’t remember the content of her speech, and as she stepped onto the stage, her anxiety only grew. After delivering the opening lines, she froze, unable to continue. The supportive applause from the audience only added to her confusion, leaving no room for her to recall her prepared words. Zora struggled through the rest of her speech, finishing it in a state of embarrassment and shame. As she walked off the stage, she saw the disappointment in her teacher’s eyes and felt the letdown from her classmates. It was a heavy burden to bear. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Back at home, Zora could no longer hold back her tears. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, Zora went to school and apologized to her class. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Back at home, Zora could no longer hold back her tears. She bolted into her room and hurled herself onto the bed, weeping profusely. The recollection of her poor performance in the competition weighed heavily on her heart. Her parents quietly entered the room. Instead of getting cross, they seated themselves beside her, patiently listening as she unburdened her guilt. Zora sobbed out that she felt extremely guilty for disappointing everyone. Her parents consoled her, stating that everyone errs and it’s the way we handle failure that counts. After an extended conversation, Zora gradually composed herself and started to reflect on her errors. The next day, Zora went to school and apologized to her class. Standing in front of the class, she appeared a bit nervous yet determined. “Dear classmates, I’m truly sorry for what happened yesterday. I failed to take the competition seriously enough, and I let our class down,” she said earnestly. To her astonishment, her classmates smiled at her and expressed their understanding. Her teacher also stepped forward and encouraged her not to be disheartened. The teacher analyzed Zora’s issues and offered her some sound advice. From that moment on, Zora learned a precious lesson. She dedicated herself more assiduously to improving her speaking skills and actively engaged in more activities, eagerly looking forward to redeeming herself. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①使失望:disappoint/let down ②安慰:console/comfort ③犯错:err/make a mistake ④鼓励:encourage/inspire ⑤致力于:dedicate oneself to ⑥参加:engage in/take part in/participate in 情绪类 ①生气的:cross/mad/angry ②真诚地:earnestly/sincerely ③惊讶:astonishment/surprise 【点睛】【高分句型1】Instead of getting cross, they seated themselves beside her, patiently listening as she unburdened her guilt. C In a remote part of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, river transport is far more common than road travel. D Feeling bad after a favorite show ends is common, and it even has an informal name: post-series depression (PSD). 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Some individuals are born with a gift for public speaking.___16___Do you want to be a good public speaker?
