阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
(A)
Many people like to travel by plane, but I don't like it because an airport is
usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for hours for the
plane to take off and it is often late. You can't open the windows. You can't
choose the food. Planes are fast, but they still take hours to go out of the
airport and into the city.
I like traveling by train. I think trains are safe. Railway stations are usually
in cities. When you are late for a train you can catch another one. You can walk
around in the train and open the windows. You can see many interesting things
on your way. I know it takes a little more time.
I also like cars. You can start your journey when you want to, and you don't
need to get to a railway station or a bus stop. Also you can carry many things
with you in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the road.
26.Why do many people like to travel by plane?
A. Because it is fast. B. Because it is safe.
C. Because you can walk around in the plane. D. Because it is cheap.
27.Which is not the good thing about the train?
A. It is safe. B. It takes a little more time.
C. You can open the windows. D. You can walk around in the train.
28.If you want to take a lot of things with you, what do you take to go out?
A. A bus. B. A car. C. A train. D. A bike.
29.What is the bad thing about the car?
A. You needn't go to a station.
B. You can start your journey when you want to.
C. There are too many cars on the road.
D. You needn't go to a bus stop.
30.What does the writer think of the plane, train and car?
A. He thinks it takes a lot of time to go to and get out of the airport.
B. He likes to take a train because it takes a little more time.
C. He likes to take a car because he has a car.
D. He likes to take a plane because it's fast.

In America, drivers' education is part of the regular high school
curriculum. Every student in his or her second year of high school is required to
take a class in drivers' education. However, unlike other courses, it is not given
during the regular school year. Instead it is a summer course.
The course is divided into two parts: class time for learning laws and rules
and driving time to practice driving. Class time is not unlike any other class. The
students study the basic traffic laws from a text to pass the written driving test
that is given to anyone who wants to get a driver's license.
Driving time is a chance for the students to get behind the wheel (steering
wheel) and practice starting steering, backing up, parking, switching lanes,
turning corners, and all the other maneuvers (操作 ) required to drive a car.
Each student is required to drive a total of six hours. The students are divided
into groups of four. The students and the instructor go out driving for two hour
blocks of time. Thus, each student gets half an hour driving time per outing.
The instructor and "driver" sit in the front seats and the other three students
sit in the back.
Drivers' education cars are unlike other cars in which they have two sets
of brakes, one on the driver's side and one on the other side where the
instructor sits. Thus, if the student driver should run into difficulties, the
instructor can take over. The car also has another special feature. On the top
of the car is a sign that reads: STUDENT DRIVER. That lets nearby drivers know
that they should use extra caution (小心).
31. In America, the driver's course mentioned above ______.
A. is considered as part of the advanced education
B. is given to anyone wanting to get a driver's license
C. is carried on at the same time as other courses
D. is required of all students of Grade 2 in high school
32.. To prevent accidents, a drivers' education car .
A. has a sign inside it B. has two sets of brakes
C. is big enough to hold five persons D. can't run very fast
33.. We can infer that the students are required to ______ in their whole
driving practice.
A. go out driving 12 times B. spend at least six hours driving
C. drive for two hour blocks of time D. get half an hour driving
34.. Which of the following does NOT agree with the requirements for the
students wanting to get their driver's license?
A. They must take their driver's education course.
B. They must have their driving time.
C. They should go to classes every day.
D. They should pass the written driving tests.
35. The underlined word “switching” in the third paragraph means “”.

These American self-help books have been translated into more than
thirty-nine languages including Chinese, Arabic, Russian, French, German,

“Dummy” is a word for a stupid person. The dummies books are not really

The books all say in a funny way that they are for dummies, such as World

The dummies.com website explains the idea behind the books. It says that
they show that people can be taught to do anything. First they can make fun of
ideas that are difficult to understand. Then they show how the information can
be interesting and easy. The publishers say that the books do not provide more
information than necessary. They give readers just enough information to do
what they want. They say that the dummies books give the best and easiest
way to do something. And the books use simple and easy language.
There are more than one thousand different dummies books. A report in New
York Times says that the top-selling dummies books are those that explain
technology and personal finance.
The publishers say that the best-selling dummies books are those
providing information many people need—like information about diseases,
education and cooking. People interested in opera, car repair and wine can
also find dummies books to help them. And there are even more dummies
books to come. The publishers say that they publish about two hundred new
dummies books every year.
36.. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
