Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the high-tech exhibits. We engaged in hands - on experiments, explored interactive displays, and even participated in a thrilling virtual reality experience. These activities not only deepened our understanding of scientific knowledge but also sparked our curiosity about the unknown. This field trip was more than just a simple outing; it was a journey of discovery that broadened my horizons and inspired me to embrace learning with enthusiasm. It was truly an educational and rewarding experience. Possible Version2: An Unforgettable Field Trip Guided by professional instructors, our class embarked on an immersive exploration at the Future Science Museum, a cutting-edge institution renowned for its interactive exhibits on robotics and sustainable energy. Throughout the day, we engaged in hands-on experiments simulating AI algorithms, participated in thought-provoking workshops about renewable resources, and collaborated in teams to design eco-friendly urban models using 3D printing technology. This experience not only enriched my understanding of how theoretical concepts translate into real-world innovations but also highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in tackling global challenges. Witnessing the seamless fusion of creativity and technology, I now firmly believe that youth-driven curiosity and cooperation are pivotal in shaping a sustainable tomorrow. The trip has undeniably ignited a fervent passion within me to contribute to scientific advancements that harmonize humanity with nature. Possible Version: Paragraph 1: The storm outside mirrored the tempest in Emily's heart, as she rummaged through the half-packed suitcase. Her trembling fingers closed around the Disneyland photo frame, its glass surface webbed with cracks resembling the fractures in their relationship. A sudden clap of thunder coincided with the discovery of her mother's journal nestled beneath sweaters. Pages fell open to an entry dated precisely three years prior - the day her father had walked out. "Emily blames me for his departure," the elegant script confessed, "but how could I explain his infidelity to a twelve-year-old?" Rain blurred the ink as realization dawned: those late nights were escapes from grief, not neglect. Downstairs, the faint sound of suppressed sobs pierced through the roaring tempest. Paragraph 2: Dawn's first light found Emily hesitating outside her mother's study, steaming chamomile tea in hand. The door stood ajar, revealing Sarah asleep at her desk, cheek pressed against an open pediatric case file. Emily's breath caught at the sight of the keychain - twin to hers - dangling from her mother's stethoscope. As she draped a blanket over Sarah's shoulders, the woman stirred, eyes red-rimmed but soft. "I thought you'd gone to your dad's." Emily's throat tightened. "This is home." Their embrace sent the keychains chiming, a fragile harmony rising with the morning sun. M:Hello, international friends club, can I help you?  W:Oh, hello. Suddenly, the window rattled violently—a tempest was brewing, its fury mirroring the storm within. She dashed upstairs, rainwater blurring her vision as she logged onto the town's forum. Fingers flying across the keyboard, she uploaded the damning evidence: microscopic algae blooms, chromium levels exceeding WHO limits. At 2:17 AM, her screen lit up with replies—fishermen sharing similar observations, a retired chemist offering forensic help. Hope flickered as she noticed Mrs. Jenkins' comment: "My arthritis medication comes from that factory. But this...this is wrong." Dawn revealed an unexpected sight: fifty townsfolk braving the rain outside City Hall, homemade posters bearing Mia's water analysis charts. Mayor Thompson emerged, his usual confidence faltering at the sight of young Timmy Wheeler holding a jar of deformed tadpoles. Mia stepped forward, voice steady with scientific resolve: "Growth and ethics aren't mutually exclusive." The crowd's murmurs coalesced into applause when the factory manager appeared, announcing an emergency audit. Watching her father nod approvingly, Mia realized true courage wasn't grand gestures—it was giving voice to silenced truths, transforming whispers of doubt into roars for change. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 姓名________________ 准考证号________________ (在此卷上答题无效!) How much is the shirt? I was going along fine with instant recall of my bank PIN, my mobile phone number and the date of my cousin’s birthday before I downloaded a gas station payment app for its new customer discount. It asked me to create a password. When I typed in “gas 1”, it was rejected for not being complex enough. I tried again: “IHateHearlessOilCompanies@”. But that was too long and didn’t include “at least one number”. But here is the thing: as soon as I added the fresh password into my memory, I instantly forgot all the others. My brain had hit its limit for passwords. I now know nothing. I had entered some passwords in a notebook. Of course, I didn’t write down the actual passwords, in case it fell into the wrong hands. Instead, I masked them in a way that only a family member could figure them out. For example, I combined my bank PIN with our postal code, then added it to a list of phone numbers. It would fool even Albert Einstein. Maybe we need a system like the one we use to remember people’s names. You know, you form an association between a person’s characteristics and their name by whispering “Skinny George. Skinny George” in heart after meeting them. The risk is that, upon seeing him, you’ll burst out the phrase. “Skinny George” might not mind, but it’s possible “Boring Betty” will. As for remembering passwords as you change them, you could simply use the first and last letters of your favorite singer’s greatest hits, together with the year of their release. Maybe I’ll try that one out, but only after describing the system in the notebook. Then I’ll hide it in a place so secret that I’ll never remember where it is. 24.What can we learn about the author from the first two paragraphs? A.He fell for a marketing trick. B.He was driven mad by passwords. C.He had a serious memory disorder. D.He was rejected by the gas station. 25.By mentioning Albert Einstein in paragraph 3, what does the author mean to do? A.To advertise a more scientific password system. B.To fool the intelligent scientist in his way. C.To prove the uselessness of his passwords. D.To show how safe his passwords were. 26.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A.To encourage readers to use password notebooks. B.To recommend a password-remembering method. C.To complain about the trouble caused by passwords. D.To highlight the importance of using complex passwords. 27.How does the author sound in this passage? A.Serious. B.Indifferent. C.Humorous. D.Absurd. C Let’s face it: we are influenced by AI algorithms (算法) when surfing the Internet on a daily basis. If you think about it, almost anything you can possibly click on over the Internet wants to influence you in some way. Even if it’s not an advertisement and the goal isn’t literally to sell you a product or service, it wants to influence you somehow, whether it’s getting you to think something, feel something, or do something. Behind every blogger, YouTube personality, and social media influencer, there are the companies that own the platforms these bloggers and influencers use: YouTube, Meta, TikTok, Instagram, and the rest. Generally speaking, the goal of these platforms is to keep users on them as often as possible for as long as possible and this increases the likelihood of those users clicking on targeted ads. These platforms use the users’ data to serve the content most likely to arouse their emotions and keep them engaged. The kind of content that’s effective at keeping people engaged often happens to be emotionally charged: sensational (轰动的), controversial, or misinformative. Unfortunately, due to its massive computing power, AI is very good at understanding your psychology (often better than you do) and, therefore, using content that is most likely to “push your buttons”. Obviously, AI itself has no emotions. It doesn’t “want” to influence you or to have power over you, but it does simply because, in the context of the Internet, that’s what it’s been programmed to do. The people who use AI as their tools are simply trying to accomplish the goal of any platform or company, which is to be profitable. In a previous post, I wrote about being data literate. Well, the first step towards protecting yourself against AI’s influence is to be conscious of the fact that we live in an attention economy in which much of the business occurs between companies that want your attention and the content platforms that provide it to them. 28.What message does the author try to convey about social media in paragraph 3? A.It is developing rapidly. B.It is trying to control us. C.It enjoys great popularity. D.It offers us a variety of choices. 29.What kind of content do the social media platforms favour most? A.The content that causes emotional reactions. B.The content that creates value for users. C.The content that spreads positive energy. D.The content that makes users feel satisfied. 30.Which of the following may be to blame according to the author? A.AI algorithms. B.Content creators. C.Social media users. D.Social media platforms. 31.What will the author probably talk about in the paragraph that follows? A.How social media platforms work. B.How AI algorithms are influencing us. C.Some measures to protect ourselves. D.Some negative effects of AI algorithms. D During a judging period for a recent short story contest, I started thinking a lot about dialogue tags. Because in many submissions characters didn’t “say” a thing. They shouted, they inquired, they assumed. Some characters screamed while others murmured. But no one “said” anything. And I started wondering why. The more I thought about it, the more I understood the temptation. We’re always encouraged to use strong, actionable verbs in our prose. Why walk when you can skip or wander? Why cry when you can sob or weep? Why wouldn’t we reach for exciting verbs instead of dull “said”? Why couldn’t each verb be a tiny sparkling gem in its own right? The problem, I think, is that every jewel needs a setting to become something more than the sum of its parts. Without something to provide structure, a collection of the world’s most glorious diamonds would still only amount to a heap of rocks. Dialogue is your diamond, friends. When we read your work, your dialogue should be so lifelike that our brains “hear” each line instead of merely reading it. We don’t need to be told a character is shouting — we can sense it in the way they spit out words, clench fists, or storm from the room. What’s more, readers may not initially imagine a particular line being “sobbed.” When we reach the end of a sentence and find out our leading lady has actually sobbed instead of whispered, it pulls us right out of the story. We pause. We reread the line. We adjust our understanding and begin again. But that wonderful momentum when we’re fully immersed in the scene, holding our breath to find out what our heroine says next, is lost. Creating a successful work of fiction is about giving the reader all the materials they need to build your fictional world in their mind. Readers need believable dialogue. And if you’ve created dynamic characters who speak words we can really hear, you will never need to tell us how something was said. 32.What do we know from the first two paragraphs? A.The word “said” is overused in our stories. B.The use of exciting verbs makes characters alive. C.Varieties of verbs are preferred by judges at contests. D.Strong verbs are considered to be an eye-catcher. 33.According to the author, ______ contributes most to a good story. A.a talkative character B.a vivid conversation C.a collection of dialogue tags D.a wild imagination 34.Which of the following does the author probably agree with? A.Creative dialogue tags help keep readers immersed in reading. B.What was said should be prioritised over how it was said. C.Readers may better understand a scene after rereading the line. D.The more materials a work of fiction contains, the more successful it is. 35.What argumentative methods are used in this article? ① Using examples      ② Justifying an assumption ③ Comparing and contrasting   ④ Appealing to readers’ emotions A.①② B.②④ C.③④ D.①③ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 There is little, it seems, that people won’t do for their pets. Americans spent $186bn on them last year, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, covering everything from food and vet visits to toys and grooming. That is more than they spent on childcare. 36 Mars, a company best known for its chocolate bars, made two-thirds of its revenue last year from pet care. Besides owning the Royal Canin pet-food brand, the company also operates thousands of vet clinics. Nestle and Colgate, two other consumer-products giants, also make around a fifth of their revenue from their pet market. Spending on pets rocketed through the COVID-19 pandemic. 37 Between 2019 and 2023, pet spending grew by a compound annual rate of 11%, in nominal terms, compared with 6% for consumer spending overall and 5% for pet spending over the preceding decade. 38 Unlike virtual yoga classes or meal-kit subscriptions, animals weren’t easy to drop once lockdowns ended. Consumers, wrestling lately with higher prices and a cooling job market, have been reluctant to employ tight budgets on their pets. Morgan Stanley, a bank, estimates pet spending in America, compared with other personal expenses, will grow by 2.5% this year. 39 The pet business proved similarly strong during the global financial crisis of 2007-2009. And analysts hold the pet business will soon go viral again. Morgan Stanley forecasts that annual spending will rise to around $260bn by 2030, consistent with its pre-pandemic growth trend. 40 Owners increasingly see themselves as parents, not masters. “Pets have gone from the backyard to the living room to the bedroom,” says Loic Moutault, head of the pet division at Mars. A.Plenty more growth is yet to come. B.Catering to pets has become big business. C.Owners are now giving their pets yummier food. D.That is attracting plenty of newcomers to the pet industry. E.It is well ahead of estimates for other spending like clothes. F.Lonely people adopted animals and invested heavily in them at that time. G.Behind that is a shift in the relationship between pets and humans. In 1996, at the age of 27, Wil Smith began his academic journey as a freshman at Maine’s Bowdoin College, shortly after he had 41 his service in the Navy.
