In this article, we will talk about four annual music festivals.(你可以亲眼看到所有你喜欢的乐队。 B。 B One day while in the forest, Margaret heard a squeak (吱吱声). She followed the sound, and in the bushes found a little fox. Margaret wanted to leave, but the fox ran after her, limping (跛行) on one leg. Margaret brought the fox to her apartment. She fed it, and decided to take it to the doctor, and then return it to the forest. Before going to the doctor, she posted several pictures of the animal online. Many people looked at these photos. Margaret decided to read the comments under them. She thought that this cute creature could only bring warmth and joy. And in most people, these photos caused these feelings. However, there were others. They lashed out at Margaret. “You think you have done a great job, but you hurt it,” read one comment. “This is a wild animal, and it must live in the wild!” The next day, Margaret brought the fox to the doctor. The doctor examined the animal and said that nothing could be done. An animal trap must have broken its leg in the past, and it didn’t heal (康复) properly. The doctor also said if Margaret had not taken the fox home, he would have died of hunger, since he would not have been able to hunt. Margaret made posts about it. But people did not calm down. Some said it was nice to save a wild animal. But others argued that the apartment was not a good place even for a wounded fox. After all, he needs space. Margaret did not know what to do to satisfy everyone. But the situation was solved. A zookeeper offered to take the fox because their animals lived in large open-air cages. Margaret agreed. She took the fox to the zoo and often visited the fox. And she was also surprised that the fox taught her a life lesson. From different points of view, any deed (行为) can look either like an absolute evil or a kind deed. 4. Why did Margaret decide to take the fox home? A. Out of fun. B. Out of pity. C. Out of fear. D. The fox should have been taken to the doctor earlier. 7 What lesson did Margaret learn from this experience? A. People are born kind. B. People see things differently. C. People are mean most of the time. D. People should put themselves in others’ shoes. B 5. C 6. A 7. 根据文章第一段“One day while in the forest, Margaret heard a squeak (吱吱声). She followed the sound, and in the bushes found a little fox. Margaret wanted to leave, but the fox ran after her, limping (跛行) on one leg. 根据文章第二段中““You think you have done a great job, but you hurt it,” read one comment. “This is a wild animal, and it must live in the wild!” 由此可知,划线短语lashed out at与were not satisfied“不满意的”意思接近。 根据文章第三段“The doctor also said if Margaret had not taken the fox home, he would have died of hunger, since he would not have been able to hunt.(医生还说,如果玛格丽特没有把狐狸带回家,他就会饿死,因为他无法捕猎。)” 故选A。 根据文章最后一段“And she was also surprised that the fox taught her a life lesson. From different points of view, any deed (行为) can look either like an absolute evil or a kind deed.(她还惊讶地发现,这只狐狸给她上了人生的一课。 B。 C Humans aren’t the only animals that move to music. Parrots have been known to do it. And now rats have been observed moving their heads in time with the tunes of Mozart, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and others, according to a new study from the University of Tokyo. What’s more, the rats seems to respond to the same beats that get humans’ feet tapping (轻跺). The researchers played a sonata by Mozart for lab rats at different variations (变更) of the original speed: 75% 100%, 200% and 400%. Wireless sensors (感应器) on the rats’ bodies tracked their movements. Meanwhile,20 human participants were involved and listened to the same music through motion sensor-equipped headphones. It was observed that the rats’ head movements were the most obvious when the music played at its normal speed, which was around 132 bpm (beats per minute). The same was true for human participants. The researchers then changed to some pop songs such as Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. As with Mozart’s, rats moved their heads along the rhythm of pop songs, similar to how people do, at about 120 to 140 bpm. The study showed that both rats and humans moved their heads along to the beat in a similar rhythm. The level of head bopping from both humans and rats decreased as the music sped up. The study suggests that there is something similar about the way human and rat brains respond to rhythm, but rats do not match their motions to the beat like humans do. Humans can predict the timing of a beat and move predictably to it. Aniruddh Patel, a psychologist who studies brain response to music, says humans and parrots respond to beats with big, voluntary movements such as head shaking, dancing or foot tapping. Patel also stresses that this study does not show that rats have the same emotional associations with music as humans do. Yet he believes it could help reveal how humans and some other animals evolved a sense of rhythm. 8. At which speed would rats show the clearest movements? A. 75 bpm. B. 100 bpm. C. 132 bpm. D. 150 bpm. 9. How do rats differ from humans in response to music? A. They seem more interested in pop music. B. They make similar movements to different rhythms. C. They prefer moving their heads with the beat. D. They are unable to predict the beat of music. 10. What is Patel’s attitude towards the study? A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Positive. D. Disapproving. 11. What is the text mainly about? A. Rats may respond to music like human do. B. Humans are the only animals that move to music. C. Music is attractive to rats. D. Music affects rats’ brains. C 9. D 10. C 11. 根据第三段“It was observed that the rats’ head movements were the most obvious when the music played at its normal speed, which was around 132 bpm (beats per minute). 根据第四段中的“The study suggests that there is something similar about the way human and rat brains respond to rhythm, but rats do not match their motions to the beat like humans do. Humans can predict the timing of a beat and move predictably to it. 根据最后一段“Aniruddh Patel, a psychologist who studies brain response to music, says humans and parrots respond to beats with big, voluntary movements such as head shaking, dancing or foot tapping. Patel also stresses that this study does not show that rats have the same emotional associations with music as humans do. Yet he believes it could help reveal how humans and some other animals evolved a sense of rhythm. 根据第一段“Humans aren’t the only animals that move to music. A。 D Travel the World Virtually-Leave home without leaving home Have you ever longed to take a trip, but you just don’t have the time or the financial resources? If so, consider touring via virtual reality (VR), which has embraced tourism with open arms. This innovative technology is reshaping the way people experience destinations by breaking down geographical barriers and providing unique journeys. An AI tour is cost-effective and allows you to see the world without leaving the comfort of your living room. You might argue that you don’t have a VR headset, but no matter. Two travel styles are available: monoscopic and stereoscopic. Monoscopic VR videos can be viewed on a mobile phone or a computer. By clicking on or dragging across the screen to rotate (旋转) the field of view, you are able to explore an entire area. Stereoscopic VR videos use VR headsets that make you feel as if you were actually present at a destination. The software in the headsets tracks your head movement, so by just turning your head, you can explore each new scene in a more realistic way. No matter which method you choose to “travel,” these virtual travel experiences aim to give you a credible experience. Besides inspecting an area that you might want to visit but can’t, you can virtually preview a place and make more informed decisions about it. You’re able to clearly see the exact location of a hotel or the distance from it to surrounding attractions. Make no mistake, travel agencies, hotels and destination marketing organizations are using this tool to their advantage. By creating virtual experiences, businesses can amaze their audience and arouse interest in specific destinations or accommodations. VR in tourism goes beyond leisure; it also plays a vital role in education and cultural preservation. By digitally documenting, archiving (把……归档) and sharing its information, the nonprofit CyArk is aiding in the preservation of endangered cultural heritage sites through VR exploration. To foster a broader understanding of the world, students can now take virtual field trips to formerly inaccessible historical sites and cultural landmarks. 12. Which of the following is NOT the advantage of touring via virtual reality? A. reasonable expenses B. geographical limits C. pre-trip decisions D. cultural awareness 13. Which one of the following is the characteristic of stereoscopic? A. You can explore the entire area on your phone. B. You can actually be present at your destination. C. You can explore each new scene by dragging across the screen. D. The software in the headsets is necessary and helpful. 14. VR in tourism can benefit the following except ______? A. travel enthusiasts with a tight schedule B. disabled people with accessibility challenges C. tourism-related businesses D. students eager to experience practical field trips 15. Where can you probably find the passage? A. a geography text book B. a tourist advertisement C. a scientific website D. a health guide handbook 【答案】12. B 13. D 14. D 15. Not all of them, and not at every moment, ___16___ The hard part of having a secret is not that you have to hide it, but that you have to live with it. So even if you do have fears and worries, know that the research shows people react more positively to disclosures (吐露秘密) than we often imagine. It might take a dash of courage to reveal something sensitive. ___17___ If you are in the middle of a social interaction that makes you feel comfortable and open, then recognize the door is open to disclosure, too. You could shout your secret in a forest where there is nobody around to hear it, but just like the leaves that nobody hears falling. ___18___ When people reveal secrets to others, they are often looking for help, and often seek out the people who prove most helpful. Another person can offer you two different kinds of help: emotional support and practical support. If you can find someone you feel comfortable opening up to, they are likely to give you one, even if not both kinds. They might express sympathy or empathy, or share with you a similar struggle they have overcome. ___19___ The harmful cycle of negative thinking is easier to break when we bring others in. If you are currently keeping a secret from a friend, a family member, or a romantic partner, then you probably have at least one more secret than you need. Chances are that there is at least one secret from others that you don’t know, and this is one more reason to share what’s on your mind with others. ___20___ A. They still hide their own secrets. B. but some of them some of the time. C. but here are some tips for you to know their secrets. D. A disclosure with no receiver is barely a closure at all. E. For months, we had been dreaming about this moment, which marked the end of years of burying ourselves in hard work and staying dedicated. It was three months ago in a history class that we were drawn to its rich history, from the medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter to the groundbreaking historical architecture of Antoni Gaudi. The happiness of burying ourselves in a new culture, filled with amazing and new cuisine and friendly people, advanced our excitement. However, despite our enthusiasm, we couldn’t ignore the fact that none of us spoke Spanish so fluently. On the day before setting off, we were still hesitant about whether to go or not. While surfing on the Internet for advice, we found that most people travelling to Barcelona considered the locals friendly and warm-hearted ones who are always willing to offer help. A sense of relief and expectation took the place of the worries. We made up our minds to go there. As we stepped off the plane, bathed in Spanish warm sunshine, our spirits rose high. We kicked off our journey with a wander down Las Ramblas, enjoying the energy and talent of street performers. Down by the street, the traditional buildings and precious cultural sites were a true feast for the eyes. Yet, the days passing by, unforeseen challenges began to take place. On the last day of the journey, as we were lost in the beauty of the amazing squares and traditional buildings, Sarah put forward that we could play the game of cat and mouse to better explore the architectures. After arranging our roles, we ran towards different directions to hide, while the cat, Sarah, began to count down to find and catch us. Hiding myself in the corner of a hall, I carefully observed Sarah. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Panic seized our group as we found Sarah's left arm bleeding. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Hiding myself in the corner of a hall, I carefully observed Sarah. After finishing the count-down, she looked around seriously, fixed her eyes straight ahead, and then walked towards the gate of the hall where I was in. With a smile on her face, she looked so confident. A sense of nervousness welled up in my heart. While I was worried about being caught by her, she stopped halfway and ran quickly towards the back of the gate. The instant she approached the gate, Grace pushed the door away and ran away like an arrow. At the same time, Sarah was knocked down by the gate and started to cry. Panic seized our group as we found Sarah's left arm bleeding. Our hearts pounding with fear and concern, we comforted Sarah anxiously. Not knowing the location of the hospital and how to perform first, I decided to turn to the locals. I approached a young lady and tried my best to tell her what happened in simple Spanish. Aware of what happened, not only did she help us call the ambulance, but she accompanied us to the hospital. Luckily, the doctor told us Sarah’s arm was not bleeding and after simple treatment we went to the airport to go home. Adventurous as the trip was, it showed us the friendliness of local people and strengthened our friendship. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①撞到:knock down/fall down ②接近:approach/move toward ③决定:decide/determine 情绪类 ①紧张:nervousness/anxiety ②惊慌:panic/fright 【点睛】[高分句型1]While I was worried about being caught by her, she stopped halfway and ran quickly towards the back of the gate.(while引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型2]Aware of what happened, not only did she help us call the ambulance, but she accompanied us to the hospital.(what引导的宾语从句以及not only开头的倒装句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 全国名校《必修第二册》模块测试 英语 满分150分,考试时间120分钟。 1.What does the woman suggest the man do? B One day while in the forest, Margaret heard a squeak (吱吱声). D. Out of joy. 5 What does the underlined part “lashed out at” in paragraph 2 mean? A. had faith in. B. took advantage of. C. were not satisfied. D. were grateful for. 6. What can we infer from the doctor’s words? A. The fox was saved in time. B. It was illegal to kill the fox. C. It was dangerous to set animal traps in the wild. D. The fox should have been taken to the doctor earlier. 7 What lesson did Margaret learn from this experience? A. People are born kind. B. People see things differently. C. People are mean most of the time. D. People should put themselves in others’ shoes. C Humans aren’t the only animals that move to music. The researchers played a sonata by Mozart for lab rats at different variations (变更) of the original speed: 75%, 100%, 200% and 400%. D Travel the World Virtually-Leave home without leaving home Have you ever longed to take a trip, but you just don’t have the time or the financial resources? The happiness of burying ourselves in a new culture filled with amazing and new cuisine and friendly people, advanced our excitement. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
