(Text 1)
W: Excuse me, do you have a fitting room?
M: Yes, it’s on the right-hand side behind that cash desk.
W: Can I bring more than one dress to try on?
M: Sure.
(Text 2)
M: Oh, I wish I hadn’t borrowed this camera from Larry. I dropped it and it doesn’t work now.
W: Let’s go downtown and find someone to fix it.
M: OK.
(Text 3)
M: Kate, good news. The company I did a field project for offered me a job at a good starting salary.
W: Wonderful, Bill. Let’s have a party this weekend.
(Text 4)
W: I can’t decide where to take my mom to dinner for her birthday. Crest Café or Blue Plate?
M: Crest Café is better. Or you can try King Lee’s. I had dinner there yesterday. It was fantastic.
W: OK, I’ll try it, thanks.
(Text 5)
W: Oh, Bob, you are wet all over. Where did you go?
M: I went to jog in the park.
W: Didn’t you know there would be a thunderstorm today?
M: I knew there would be a shower, but I didn’t expect it would rain cats and dogs.
(Text 6)
W: Oh dear, I gained five pounds in the last two months. These jeans don’t fit me now.
M: Don’t worry, you still look pretty.
W: But it’s too quick. I eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water. I haven’t done anything differently.
What gives?
M: Maybe because of those healthy foods, you know, too much dark chocolate, nuts and fruits can all lead
to weight gain.
W: You’re right, I should stop eating them.
M: No needs, dear. You can just take more exercise and still enjoy those foods.
(Text 7)
W: Hello, Joshua.
M: Hi, Maria, I’m sorry we can’t be at your place on time.
W: Yeah, we were wondering where you were. What happened?
高一英语学科 听力原文&答案 第2页(共 5 页)
M: We seem to have made a wrong turn and got lost.
W: Where are you?
M: Let me see. We passed the national bank on Elmer Road ten minutes ago and we’re now on a street with
a tall white building. I think it’s Poplar Street.
W: Gee, you really are lost. The best thing to do is to drive back down Elmer Road until you get to Weston
Hospital and then turn right.
M: Drive back down Elmer Road.
W: Yes, after you turn right at the hospital, Cider Street will be the second street on your right.
M: Got it, thanks. Hopefully we’ll be there by 7:30.
(Text 8)
M: Excuse me, I’m calling about the ad for the flat.
W: Yeah, it’s still available.
M: Good. The ad says the rent is nine hundred and fifty pounds a month. Could it be eight hundred pounds
if I rent it for a longer period of time?
W: Possible. We can talk about it. By the way you can find someone to share the rent, you know, it’s a
two-bedroom flat.
M: Thank you for the advice. Uh, how close is the flat to London College? I have classes every weekday
there.
W: It’s about eight blocks from the college, but you can take a number of buses right out in front.
M: Oh, if there’s a busy road out front, is it noisy?
W: Well, it’s a little noisy, but the place is really convenient. There’s a shopping center right across the
street.
M: I see. Is it possible for me to drop by and see the flat tomorrow?
W: Sure. You can take No.9 bus and get off at the art gallery.
M: Thanks. See you tomorrow.
(Text 9)
W: Oh, so slow.
M: Yeah, it’s a long line. People are buying a lot for the holiday. Would you like to go ahead of me?
W: Really? Thank you so much. My husband is waiting outside the store and we’re in a hurry. I really
appreciate it.
M: That’s okay. If you don’t mind, could you pay it forward by doing something kind for someone else?
W: Sure. I’d love to. I will figure out something nice to do on my way back.
M: By the way I’m doing it for Random Acts of Kindness Week. Could I tell you something about it?
W: Yes, please.
M: It’s initiated by the local church. We do it from Monday to Thursday. On Monday we encouraged
people to smile more. Tuesday’s challenge was to have lunch with someone we don’t normally eat with.
Yesterday we had the third challenge: volunteering. I helped at a nursing home. Today we do something
for someone in need and ask them to pay it forward.

W: That’s great. I love it. How can I join?
M: Here is the website. Just apply online. It’s simple.
W: Okay. I’ll do it now.
(Text 10)
W: Good afternoon, everyone. I’m here to offer you some tips on public speaking. One of the worst
mistakes you can make as a public speaker is talking too long. It doesn’t matter if your entire speech
was good and the audience came away with information that will change their lives. If you talk too long,
they will leave saying that speaker just wouldn’t quit. Don’t let this happen to you. Say what you have
to say and sit down. Before you do, give them a well-thought-out closing. The last thing you say is
generally what the audience remembers most. Just like your opening, your closing doesn’t have to be
humorous, it could be challenging, thoughtful or it could retell your point in a different way. Please at
some time during your talk, ask the audience to do something. Many a great talk went no farther than
the walls of the meeting room. Because the audience wasn’t moved to action. If you haven’t asked them
to do something by now, the closing is your last chance.

Sample 1
Good morning, everyone!
I’m Li Hua. Today, I want to talk about “Music and Me”.
I’ve been a music lover since I was a little kid. When I was five, my mom bought me a
toy piano. So excited was I that I played it for hours. The beautiful sounds it made held me in
complete fascination. Music has always been a big part of my life. It’s like a friend who is
always there for me. When I’m happy, music makes me dance. When I’m sad, music comforts
me. It helps me relax and focus. It also gives me courage and strength.
I believe music is a universal language that connects people. It can break down barriers
and bring us closer together. Let’s all embrace music and let it fill our lives with joy and
beauty. Thank you!
Sample 2
Hello, everyone!
I’m Li Hua and I feel honored to share with you my journey of “ Music and Me”.
高一英语学科 听力原文&答案 第4页(共 5 页)
Music has been rooted in my heart since my babyhood. Mum was always singing some
comforting songs for me to be relaxed and calm down when I was young. Later, it was Mum’s
passion for music that fueled my enthusiasm in music practice. The notes of piano pieces
brought me to a colorful world, where I communicated with the masters of music and shared
my emotions with my friends in such a wonderful form.
Music witnessed my growth. It seems to have magic power, which not only led me on a
journey of art, but it also offered opportunities to cherish the life.
That’s all. Thank you.
续写参考范文:
Para 1: One evening, seeing the lady clearing snow off her sidewalk, I made a decision.
I walked over and introduced myself, explaining our situation. She smiled warmly and invited
me in. Her house was filled with the scent of pine and the glow of twinkling lights. She led
me to her tree and carefully handed me a few of her decorations. “These are for you,” she said.
“It’s the Christmas spirit to share joy.” I was overwhelmed with gratitude. With her help, we
added the final touches to our tree. It was perfect. Our third friend.
Para 2: Finally came the Christmas Eve. Our living room was aglow with the tree’s
warm light. My daughter’s eyes sparkled as she admired our creation. We had not only found
a way to decorate our tree but also discovered the kindness of our neighbors. That night, as we
sat around the tree, we felt a sense of belonging. We were no longer alone in this new city.
The tree, with its borrowed decorations, stood as a symbol of friendship and community. It
was the best Christmas we could have ever imagined and spring is sure to come.

While climbing the Great Wall is a once-in-a-lifetime dream for many, Jim Spear has
taken it a step further, spending the last 18 years as a villager living near this ancient wonder.
“Never did I dream I would have the chance to visit the Great Wall, let alone live under
it,” said 68-year-old Spear, a self-taught architect from the United States.
Spear’s interest in China began during his college days. It deepened when he met Tang, a
Chinese girl, in 1980, and they got married two years later. In 1986, he decided to drop out of
his doctoral studies in Chinese politics at the University of California and moved to China “to
get to the heart of things”. “I realized that if I became a scholar of China, based overseas, I
wouldn’t be able to experience what was happening in China,” Spear said.
In 1995, the couple secured a long-term rent of a traditional village farmhouse in
Mutianyu and decided to make it their full-time home ten years later. Shortly after
experiencing full-time village life, he rented an unused schoolhouse and turned it into a
restaurant and art glass factory for a sustainable tourism business. He also turned a former
factory into a hotel and helped renovate(翻新) over 20 houses into restaurants. Besides, he
explored other ways to support those residents in the countryside. “I want to do something for
them,” Spear said.
Spear’s designs reflect his natural talent for combining(结合) traditional and modern
elements, following the Great Wall style. However, Spear stressed his approach includes
creating designs and views “that echo(呼应) the Great Wall, not copy it”. In 2014, Spear
received the Great Wall Friendship Award from the Beijing government.
24. What do we know about Spear from the first two paragraphs?
A. He likes climbing the Great Wall. B. He once dreamed of becoming a villager.
C. He came to China when he was 18. D. He has lived near the Great Wall for years.
25. What’s Spear’s purpose of moving to China when he was in college?
A. To marry a Chinese girl. B. To explore a real China.
C. To work as an architect. D. To study Chinese politics.
26. What is special about Spear’s designs?
A.They copy the style of the Great Wall. B. They are inspired by local residents.
C. They connect the past with the present. D. They have received a world-wide prize.
27. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To explain why Jim Spear chose to live in Mutianyu.
B. To describe Jim Spear’s life and contributions in China.
C. To discuss the challenges of sustainable tourism in China.
D. To introduce Jim Spear’s efforts to preserve the Great Wall.

Why do we find ugly animals so attractive? And what makes these creatures so cute?
Evolution(进化) plays a role. According to Austrian zoologist Konrad Lorenz, human
attraction to childish appearance, such as big eyes, large heads and soft bodies, is an
evolutionary adaptation that helps ensure that adults care for their young. “Ugly animals such
as blobfish, pugs, and bulldogs all share these childish qualities that stir up humans’ love. And
these qualities increase a person’s attention and willingness to care and reduce the likelihood
of attacks towards a child.” says Marta Borgi, a researcher.
Ugly animals often have other value — some, like the blobfish, live in extreme
environment they have adapted to in special ways. Scientists are eager to study these animals
to understand whether their biology might provide fresh insights that could lead to treatments
for human health conditions such as cancer, heart disease and other deadly diseases.
Our fascination with ugly-cute animals can also be due to public culturally-based causes.
“The ugly-cute thing is very fashionable,” says Rowena Packer, a lecturer of animal behavior.
“This is partly driven by social media, with many well-known persons showing off pet pugs
and French bulldogs on the Internet,” she says.
But there are some serious health concerns. Vets(兽医) propose that people should not
choose a flat-faced dog, because they suffer from serious health problems. For example,
French bulldogs experience breathing difficulties and eye diseases. So we may want to rethink
our love for “ugly-cute” animals because of their silly features.
28.Why do people like ugly animals according to Konrad Lorenz?
A. People are fond of their fast reaction.
B. People appreciate their efforts to survive.
C. People appreciate their super adaptability.
D. People are attracted by their childish looks.
29.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. What media are changing people. B. Why famous people show off their pets.
C. How public practices affect people. D. Whether social media is worth believing.
30. What’s the author’s attitude towards people’s love for ugly animals?
A. Negative. B. Positive C. Cautious. D. Unconcerned
31. How does the author mainly answer the questions raised in Paragraph 1?
A. By quoting different researchers’ findings.
B. By showing some examples of keeping pets.
C. By observing people’s behavior towards animals.
D. By referring to authoritative evolutionary studies.

For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted
to study the migration (迁徙) patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies. The route the
butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For
every 200 monarchs tagged (打标签) by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end
of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely. Knowing the route
is of great importance to preservation efforts, but James had no way to figure it out — until
he got a phone call from Washington State Prison(监狱) in Walla.
The prison was looking for new activities to improve the mental health of those serving
long-term sentences. So James began working with prisoners to raise monarchs through the
whole process of their change. The adult insects were then tagged and released from the
prison. Over five years, nearly 10,000 monarchs have flown from the prison. Elsewhere in
Washington, Oregon and Idaho, researchers set another few thousand free.
The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James
started receiving messages from people who had seen them. It is reported that the butterflies
wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in
Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay.
The study helps researchers identify suitable places to grow milkweed and other plants
that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the
gentler side of some of the prisoners. “They were very worried that they were going to harm
the butterflies,” James says. Watching the monarch butterflies change their form also touched
the men. “This butterfly changed,” James remembers prisoners telling him, “and maybe we
can too.”
32. What was hard for David to do in his study?
A. Build a new lab. B. Hire skilled workers.
C. Gain enough fund. D. Find enough monarchs.
33. Why are the butterflies tagged before being released?
A. To ensure their safety. B. To enable them to fly longer.
C. To track their travel routes. D. To tell them from other species.
34. What makes the prisoners feel that they can change?
A. The contribution of James. B. The hardship the butterflies suffered.
C. The change of the butterflies. D. The patience the butterflies showed.
35. What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A. The impact of the research. B. The findings of James’ study.
C. The change of the prisoners. D. The life cycle of the butterflies.

Move to the Music
Music helps us exercise, but why does it have this effect? ____36____ The first is simple:
Music distracts us. When we listen to a song we like, our brain pays attention to the music.
For example, after we exercise for 20 minutes, our body might be tired. But we may not feel
this immediately while listening to music. So we exercise a little longer.
Music also inspires us. When we hear dance music, for example, we naturally start to
move to the beat. An upbeat song also puts us in a good mood, so we feel happier. This gives
us energy and helps us exercise longer.____37____ Songs in the range of 120-140 beats per
minute (BPM) are the best, says sports psychologist Dr. Costas.
____38____. Its leading researcher Fritz put 61 people in small groups. They all then
exercised twice. One time, each group worked out while listening to music for six minutes.
Another time, they exercised for six minutes on special Jymmin machines. The name Jymmin
is a combination of “jamming" and “gym.” Using these machines, each group made music as
they moved. The exercisers became the composers and the machines became their instruments.
In the end, 53 of the 61 people said the same thing: They felt less tired when they exercised
on the Jymmin machines. ____39____
How does Fritz explain this? Maybe people did better on the Jymmin machines because
they had more control, he says. People created the beat. They could make it go faster or
slower. Also, the activity was social. Each group was making music together and having fun.
Fritz believes that Jymmin exercise may have other benefits, too. ____40____ For example, it
may be even a good way to treat depression(抑郁症).
A. Experts say there are two main reasons.
B. This also helps relax our body and brain.
C. Music with a quick and steady beat is good for exercising.
D. He wants to find out if it can help with more serious problems.
E. A new study suggests this is only part of the explanation, however.
F. When they exercise and make music, working out seems to be easier.
G. He expects to take advantage of it to tap into people’s creativity.

高一英语学科 试题 第10页(共 10 页)
It was our first winter in Chicago. Just as the animals were hibernating(冬眠), it seemed
that so were our new neighbors. As newcomers, we felt alone.
Then something happened. It all began with a simple request from our eight-year -old
daughter. “Mommy, let’s put up a Christmas tree at home.”
At first, we didn’t pay too much attention to this request, for we had never put up a
Christmas tree. But my daughter’s repeated request made us go ahead with this first step:
loaded with layers of clothing to fight the unfamiliar cold, we tasked ourselves with finding a
tree for our daughter.
When we finally selected our tree, we realized we didn’t have a car big enough to get it
home. Of course, we had not considered that. It was our first time. We had no choice but
to carry it home. We had walked only a few steps when a gentleman in our neighborhood
stopped his truck and offered us a ride home. Our first friend.
The Christmas tree was propped up(支起) in our living area but it was too dark. We
needed Christmas lights! So, the next evening, we went to a store and asked for lights. The
storekeeper, who, after getting over the surprise of our seemingly silly questions, explained to
us that we needed multi-colored lights. Thanking the kind soul, we left with our lights and his
warmth. Our second friend.
That night, we carefully wound the lights around the tree and excitedly held our breaths
for the beauty of the first glow. Still, it looked like something was missing: small decorations
(装饰品). Where would we get them? One lady across the street had a lovely tree carefully
placed in a window for all to see. Every night, I stood behind the curtain(窗帘 ),
spending unnatural amounts of time studying the bells and whistles in her tree.
Para 1: One evening, seeing the lady clearing snow off her sidewalk, I made a decision.
