Will you be crazy about these newly-built products that are not merely quite useful but also good to the environment? Come and see them!
Eco-friendly Umbrella
Traditional umbrellas come with a fixed surface. Although it is changeable, you cannot replace it easily. This eco-friendly design is more flexible. It is actually only an umbrella skeleton without any surface, which can be folded, so you can put anything such as newspapers, plastic bags or whatever you want to serve as the protecting surface.
Pollution-sensitive Dress
Don’t be caught outside unaware of pollution levels in the air. The pollution-sensitive EPA Dress by Stephanie Sandstrom notices pollution in the air accordingly. This dress — which is actually quite pretty — looks like you pull it from the bottom of the dirty laundry pile when the air is dirty. It might protect your health by advising you to stay indoors for the day, but it won’t do you any favor if you’re meeting with clients.
Eco-friendly Car Racer
Can you image a car racer is so eco-friendly that its tyres are made from potatoes, its body is created from hop (葎草) and rapeseed oil (菜籽油) and it runs on fuel made from wheat and sugar beet? The one seater racing car called Eco One is built by experts from Warwick University, who hope that Eco One will be used by the automotive industry. It is sold at $51,000.
Eco-friendly. Moss (苔藓) Carpet
Do you know it is said that walking on fresh grass can really increase your blood circulation? The Moss Carpet, created by Nguyen La Chanh, looks at getting the grass to your feet. The mat includes-ball moss, island moss and forest moss. The humidity (湿度) of the bathroom ensures that it grows well. And that’s why you need to place it there and not anywhere else.
1. What is the primary function of the EPA Dress?
A. To inform people of air quality.
B. To warn wearers about indoor air pollution levels.
C. To improve blood circulation through its design.
D. To serve as fashionable clothing for business meetings.
2. Which statement about the Eco One car racer is correct?
A. Its tyres are made from recycled plastic materials.
B. It uses plant-based materials for its body and fuel.
C. It is designed to replace traditional family vehicles.
D. Only researchers at Warwick University can purchase it.
3. Where would this article most likely appear?
A. A business magazine. B. A personal blog.
C. An official document. D. An environmental magazine.

Georgia, who works for a popular fashion store in the UK named Bows Boutique, left her purse at a gas station after her company party in early December. She was heartbroken, but thinking someone must have taken it away, she gave up the idea of going back to look for it and didn’t phone the station to ask about it. But her tears quickly dried when an off-duty firefighter named Nyma showed up at her door.
A ring camera caught Georgia and Nyma’s exchange, and the owner of Bows Boutique posted the video on the store’s Instagram page. In it, Nyma rang her doorbell and Georgia answered it using a phone app. Nyma explained where he found the lost purse and said he decided to drive straight to her house so she wouldn’t have to experience an extra moment of panic.
Georgia was moved to tears and kept offering to send Nyma money for his good deed, but he refused. He simply asked her to pay it forward, and explained that it was no trouble for him though Georgia knew he needed to drive hours to her house. Because she wasn’t home at the time, he left the purse in an empty garbage bag and left.
The owner and Georgia were so touched by the gesture, and they started a search for the mystery man so they could give him a proper “thank you”. It didn’t take long to find him. They invited him to the store for an official meet—and he went. “He is such a kind man,” reads another post. “It was an absolute pleasure to meet him. The video has got millions of views and we hope he will be a positive influence on many.”
4. Why did Georgia give up looking for her purse?
A. She thought it was too far to go back to the gas station.

5. How did Nyma most likely find Georgia’s address?
A. By checking the gas station’s records.
B. Through information in her purse.
C. By using the store’s Instagram page.
D By contacting the. police.
6. What did Nyma ask Georgia to do?
A. Give him some money as a reward.
B. Drive to his house to get the purse.
C. Do something good for others.
D. Post the story on Instagram.
7. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Georgia will start a volunteer program.
B The video on Instagram made Nyma famous.
C. Nyma is a rich man and doesn’t need the money.
D. The owner of Bows Boutique will give Nyma a big present.
【答案】4. D 5. B 6. C 7. B

During the 2025 Spring Festival movie season, an extraordinary event occurred: Ne Zha 2 became a massive hit in Chinese cinemas. By February 3rd, its box office earnings had exceeded 4 billion yuan (about $550 million), breaking previous records. This animated sequel quickly gained popularity, even outperforming famous films like YOLO (热辣滚烫) and The Wandering Earth 2.
The film’s success changed how cinemas operated across the country. To meet the huge demand, theaters introduced 1,000-seat screening halls for the first time, with some scheduling nearly 100 shows daily. Tickets sold out rapidly both online and at ticket counters. Meanwhile, related products sparked a shopping craze. Items featuring characters like Shen Gongbao and Shi Ji Niangniang flew off shelves. Limited-edition blind boxes disappeared within hours, and crowdfunding for collectible figures raised ten times the expected amount, proving fans’ deep love for the film.
Rooted in Chinese mythology, Ne Zha 2 retells ancient stories with a modern style. Magical world, legendary weapons, and iconic figures like Ao Bing are woven into a story that deeply resonates (产生共鸣) with young audiences. The film’s central theme— “fighting against fate”—touches a nerve with teenagers facing pressures in school, family or society. As one college student said after watching the film, “It’s not just about gods and devils. It’s about how we should fight for our own future.” The film also explores new relationships between characters. Ne Zha and Ao Bing, once enemies, now balance competition with friendship. Visually, Ne Zia 2 sets a new standard for Chinese animation with over 1,900 carefully designed special effects shots. Scenes like flaming lotus flowers clashing with water dragons leave audiences amazed, showing that Chinese animation can compete with global giants like Disney or Studio Ghibli.
Beyond box office success, Ne Zha 2 bridges ancient culture and modern creativity. By mixing cultural pride with advanced technology, it inspires a new generation to value tradition while embracing innovation. The rebellious spirit of Ne Zha — a “little devil” challenging old rules — not only entertains but encourages young people to think critically and pursue their dreams.
8. What was the total box earnings of Ne Zha 2 by February 3rd?
A. Over 3 billion yuan.
B. Exactly 4 billion yuan
C. More than 4 billion yuan
D. About 5 billion yuan.
9. How did theaters adapt to the high demand for Ne Zha 2?
A. By reducing ticket prices.
B. By closing smaller cinemas.
C. By limiting online ticket sales.
D. By building 1,000-seat halls and increasing daily shows.
10. Why does the theme of Ne Zha 2 resonate with young audiences?
A. It centers on entertaining visuals rather than meaningful stories.
B. It reminds them of ancient Chinese myths they studied in school.
C. It encourages them to bravely face challenges in a traditional way.
D. It mirrors their struggles with pressures in school, family, and society.
11. Which of the following words best describes the tone of the passage?
A. Critical. B. Indifferent. C. Positive. D. Negative.
【答案】8. C 9. D 10. D 11. C

As adults, fear is something we feel we have to carry alone, afraid to share it because it might make us seem weak.
This is especially true for business leaders. Fear can be perceived as a lack of belief. But the truth is, trying something new and pushing beyond the familiar is always going to be scary.
Launching a startup, developing a new product, or stepping into a new market means navigating the unknown. No matter how much we plan, there’s always uncertainty. And that uncertainty brings fear—whether it’s the fear of failing, being judged, or facing rejection.
Treat fear as a built-in Survival Guide. When you face something uncertain or threatening, your brain’s amygdala (杏仁核) kicks into gear, cueing reactions that prepare you to either fight or flight.
In addition to fast-acting neurotransmitters (神经递质), your brain also uses neuropeptides (神经肽), which act more slowly but help adjust your fear response, making sure you stay aware of potential risks.
Fear itself is not bad. It’s a natural response designed to protect you. In fact, as one of our oldest survival mechanisms, it can even be healthy. It can help avoid casual decisions, heighten our awareness, and fuel our motivation. Yet, we crush it, leading to its worst effects—overthinking, poor communication, and missed opportunities because we shy away from risks.
As a result, we often get all of its drawbacks without any of its benefits: work is slower because of analysis paralysis (瘫痪); communication is unproductive because we hold back information; innovation is limited because we avoid taking any risks.
What if instead we embraced fear as a natural part of life, one that’s full of curiosity, experimentation, and creativity? Making friends with fear means recognizing that it’s not something to avoid or ignore, but rather something to treat as helpful information.
When you stop running from fear and start working with it, amazing things can happen. By feeling your fear, examining its source, speaking out your needs, and reflecting on the experience, you can transform this natural response into a powerful driver of personal and professional progress.
12. What do the underlined words “kick into gear” probably mean in paragraph 4?
A. Lose control. B. Start working. C. Start fighting. D. Come into effect.
13. What can we learn about “neuropeptides”?
A. They are less useful than the neurotransmitters.
B. They help you prepare yourself in face of fear.
C. They help improve your response towards fear.
D. They can make sure you avoid potential risks.
14. Which of the following statements does the author agree with?
A. Fear should be crushed and avoided.
B. Fear can also be taken advantage of.
C. Fear itself is perfectly good and healthy.
D. Fear totally comes from a lack of confidence.
15. What is the most suitable title of this article?
A. Making Friends with Fear. B. Being Brave and Fearless.
C. Sharing Fear Makes You Weak. D. Fear Always Leads to Failure.
【答案】12. B 13. C 14. B 15. A
根据第五段“In addition to fast-acting neurotransmitters (神经递质), your brain also uses neuropeptides (神经肽), which act more slowly but help adjust your fear response, making sure you stay aware of potential risks.(除了快速作用的神经递质,你的大脑还使用神经肽,它的作用更慢,但有助于调整你的恐惧反应,确保你保持对潜在风险的意识。)”可知,神经肽有助于提高你对恐惧的反应。故选C。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第六段“Fear itself is not bad. It’s a natural response designed to protect you. In fact, as one of our oldest survival mechanisms, it can even be healthy. It can help avoid casual decisions, heighten our awareness, and fuel our motivation.(恐惧本身并不坏。这是保护你自然反应。事实上,作为我们最古老的生存机制之一,它甚至可以是健康的。它可以帮助我们避免随意的决定,提高我们的意识,并激发我们的动力。)”以及第八段“Making friends with fear means recognizing that it’s not something to avoid or ignore, but rather something to treat as helpful information.(与恐惧交朋友意味着认识到它不是要避免或忽视的东西,而是要把它当作有用的信息来对待。)”可知,作者认为恐惧有其积极作用,可以被利用,故选B。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是倒数第四段“In fact, as one of our oldest survival mechanisms, it can even be healthy. It can help avoid casual decisions, heighten our awareness, and fuel our motivation.(事实上,作为我们最古老的生存机制之一,它甚至可以是健康的。它可以帮助我们避免随意的决定,提高我们的意识,并激发我们的动力。)”可知,本文主要讲的是恐惧的作用与生理机制,呼吁接纳恐惧助力成长,因此最恰当的标题是A选项“Making Friends with Fear.(与恐惧交朋友。)”。故选A。
第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
People have tried everything to get more sleep. But unlike almost every other area of life, effort is not rewarded. ____16____ The more you try, the less you are likely to succeed. Here are some ways to improve your sleep that might just work.
____17____ There is nothing you can do between now and bedtime to guarantee that you will sleep tonight. There is, however, plenty you can start doing to improve your chances of sleeping well next month. So instead of worrying about the night ahead, make sleeping well a long-term goal and expect to see progress in a few weeks rather than tomorrow.
Have a late night. Adults need to be awake for at least 16 hours to generate enough sleep-drive to sleep for eight hours at night. Having an early night can mean you won’t be sleepy enough to fall asleep quickly and easily. Don’t pay too much attention to the exact times or the hours of sleep you are getting—the details don’t matter. And don’t take naps (小睡) in the day. ____18____
Smile more. Smiling can reduce tension and promote relaxation. As you turn the light out at night, try to think of something funny and smile to yourself in the dark. ____19____ Even a fake smile is enough to send a message to the brain to change your mood and retrain the brain to be comfortable with being awake, thus reducing tension and allowing sleep to follow.
Stop reading articles about sleep. None of the researching, monitoring or analyzing actually leads to better sleep. In fact, constantly looking for a solution is undoubtedly making things worse. ____20____ Make this article the last one you read on the subject, then go and find something more interesting to think about.
A. Let go of tonight’s expectations.
B. Actually, this struggle can backfire.
C. Focus less on perfecting your sleep.
D. Set a consistent bedtime for better results.
E. Daytime naps reduce your natural tiredness.
F. It doesn’t have to be a genuine, heartfelt smile.
G. Breaking the cycle requires changing your approach.
【答案】16. B 17. A 18. E 19. F 20. C
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一些改善睡眠的方法。
16题详解】
上文“People have tried everything to get more sleep. But unlike almost every other area of life, effort is not rewarded.(人们想尽一切办法来获得更多的睡眠。但与生活中几乎所有其他领域不同的是,努力并不会得到回报)”指出努力获得更多睡眠不一定有回报。B选项“Actually, this struggle can backfire.(实际上,这种努力可能会适得其反)”与上文衔接紧密,进一步说明努力获得睡眠可能产生不好的结果,即适得其反,与下文“The more you try, the less you are likely to succeed.(你越努力,成功的可能性就越小)”也相呼应。故选B项。
【17题详解】
下文“There is nothing you can do between now and bedtime to guarantee that you will sleep tonight. There is, however, plenty you can start doing to improve your chances of sleeping well next month.(从现在到睡觉时间,你没有什么可以做的来保证今晚能睡着。然而,你可以开始做很多事情来提高下个月睡个好觉的机会)”说明不要把注意力放在今晚能否睡好上。A选项“Let go of tonight’s expectations.(放下今晚的期望)”与下文内容相符,引出下文要把改善睡眠作为长期目标的内容。故选A项。
【18题详解】
上文“And don’t take naps (小睡) in the day.(白天不要小睡)”给出不要白天小睡的建议。
下文“Even a fake smile is enough to send a message to the brain to change your mood and retrain the brain to be comfortable with being awake, thus reducing tension and allowing sleep to follow.(即使是假笑也足以向大脑发送信息来改变你的情绪,并让大脑重新适应清醒状态,从而减轻紧张情绪,促进睡眠)”提到了假笑的作用。F选项“It doesn’t have to be a genuine, heartfelt smile.(不一定非得是真诚、发自内心的微笑)”与下文内容呼应,说明不一定要真心的笑,假笑也有作用。故选F项。
【20题详解】
上文“None of the researching, monitoring or analyzing actually leads to better sleep. In fact, constantly looking for a solution is undoubtedly making things worse.(研究、监测或分析实际上都不能带来更好的睡眠。事实上,不断寻找解决方案无疑会让事情变得更糟)”说明过度关注睡眠并不能改善睡眠。C选项“Focus less on perfecting your sleep.(少关注完善你的睡眠)”与上文内容一致,总结上文,提出不要过度关注睡眠,承接下文建议不要再阅读关于睡眠的文章。故选C项。

Unexpected Hike
It was a sunny weekend, and a group of high-school students from Class 10, led by their enthusiastic teacher Mr. Brown, set out for a hiking trip in the nearby mountains. Among them were Alex, a curious and adventurous boy, and his reserved but intelligent classmate, Maya. Everyone was in high spirits, chatting and laughing as they walked along the well-marked trail.
As they hiked deeper into the mountains, the beautiful scenery around them was breathtaking. Lush green trees towered above, and colorful wildflowers dotted the path. The students stopped occasionally to take pictures, trying to capture the beauty of nature. Alex, always eager to explore, would run ahead a little, then wait impatiently for the rest of the group.
After a few hours of hiking, they reached a fork in the trail. Mr. Brown, checking the map, told the students that the left path would lead them to a magnificent waterfall, while the right one would take them back to the starting point. Most of the students voted to go left and see the waterfall. However, Maya, who had been quietly observing the weather, noticed some dark clouds gathering in the distance. She worried that a storm might be approaching and suggested they return. But her voice was drowned out by the excited chatter of her classmates, and they decided to continue on the left path.
As they got closer to the waterfall, the sound of rushing water grew louder. Just as they were about to reach their destination, large raindrops began to fall. In no time, it turned into a heavy downpour. The path, which was muddy to begin with, became slippery and dangerous. The students huddled together, not knowing what to do next. Mr. Brown tried to keep everyone calm, but the situation was getting out of control.

Paragraph 2:
Suddenly, Maya remembered something she had learned in a survival course.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Alex, who was usually so feeless, now started to feel a bit scared. The heavy rain made visibility poor, and the strong wind was making the trees sway dangerously. His classmates were also looking around anxiously, their excited expressions replaced by worry. Mr. Brown was trying his best to shield the students from the rain with his coat, but it was of little use. Alex’s teeth chattered as he thought about the possible consequences of getting stuck in this storm. He regretted not listening to Maya’s advice earlier. The path was getting more and more difficult to navigate, with mud making it easy to slip and fall. Some students were on the verge of crying, and the group’s morale was at an all-time low.
Suddenly, Maya remembered something she had learned in a survival course. She quickly scanned the area around them and spotted a large overhanging rock not far away. Shouting to get everyone’s attention, she said, “Follow me! We can take shelter under that rock.” Mr. Brown immediately agreed and helped the students move towards the rock. Once they were all safely under the overhang, they were out of the direct rain. Maya then suggested they use some dry leaves and twigs they could find nearby to start a small fire to keep warm. The students, now full of hope, started collecting the materials. With a little effort, they managed to start a fire, and the warm glow gradually lifted their spirits. They waited for the storm to pass, grateful for Maya’s quick thinking and knowledge.

C. Positive. D. Negative.
D
When you stop running from fear and start working with it amazing things can happen. By feeling your fear, examining its source, speaking out your needs, and reflecting on the experience, you can transform this natural response into a powerful driver of personal and professional progress.

After a few hours of hiking they reached a fork in the trail.
