On a large scale, mankind’s excessive need for production and consumption of goods can be linked to the environmental problems we are facing today: climate change, depletion of natural resources and extinction of wildlife species. At school or work, individuals may not be considered reliable enough to be team players or be placed in leadership roles. Irresponsibility clearly has a butterfly effect not only on people who are being irresponsible, but also on those around them.
