Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719. The book is presented as an autobiography of the title character. Robinson Crusoe is on a ship bound for Africa, where he plans to buy slaves for his plantations in South America. The ship is wrecked on an island and he becomes the only survivor. Spending 28 years on that desert island, Crusoe manages to survive.
