Dear Susan,
How’s it going? I moved to Beijing with my family a few months ago.
At first, I was so excited about that. But soon I realized (意识到) that I couldn’t speak any Chinese at all! To make new friends in China, I took some Chinese classes for beginners like me. Every week there were three lessons for us, and each was one hour. It was so long that I was worried that I couldn’t make it.
Mr. Kong, our teacher, taught us so many new words in each class. That made all of my classmates so tired. Although I think Chinese grammar (语法) is easier than that of English, there are still a lot of words with different meanings. If you can’t tell the differences, you’ll make mistakes in your everyday life!
But luckily, a few weeks later, I felt much better than before. I came to know that the harder I worked, the more I could learn. I usually took a bus to school. I found that most passengers were silent (沉默的) and never had a conversation (交谈) with anyone else.
