第二节(满分25分)
【参考答案】
Max and Sam exchanged an excited glance. “That’s a great idea, Ava!” Max exclaimed. Sam nodded in agreement, his eyes shining with determination. Without hesitation, they quickly divided the tasks. Max ran to fetch some trash bags from his nearby home. Ava and Sam started collecting the larger pieces of garbage first, like the chip bags and plastic bottles. As they worked, Ava hummed a little tune, and the others joined in. Their laughter and songs filled the park, making the cleanup seem more like a fun game.
Unexpectedly, other parkgoers joined in as they did the cleanup. An elderly couple, who were taking a stroll, saw what they were doing and decided to lend a hand. A group of kids playing nearby also came over, eager to help make the park clean again. With more people joining, the cleanup went much faster. Before long, the playground was clean once more. The slides and swings sparkled in the sun, and the grassy fields were free of trash. Max, Ava, and Sam looked at each other, beaming with pride. They realized that with everyone’s effort, they could make a difference and keep their beloved park beautiful.

B
I began to grow up that winter night when my parents and I were returning from my aunt’s house, and my mother said that we might soon be leaving for America. We were on the bus then. I was crying, and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me. I remember that I could not bear the thought of never hearing again the radio program for school children to which I listened every morning.
I do not remember myself crying for this reason again. In fact, I think I cried very little when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving I thought about all the places I was going to see — the strange and magical places I had known only from books and pictures. The country I was leaving never to come back was hardly in my head then.
The four years that followed taught me the importance of optimism, but the idea did not come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really lost — having to study in three schools as a result of family moves. I did not quite know what I was or what I should be. Mother remarried, and things became even more complex for me. Some time passed before my stepfather and I got used to each other. I was often sad, and saw no end to “the hard times.”
My responsibilities in the family increased a lot since I knew English better than everyone else at home. I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated at interviews with Immigration officers, took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there, and even discussed telephone bills with company representatives.
From my experiences I have learned one important rule: almost all common troubles eventually go away! Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little! I believe that my life will turn out all right, even though it will not be that easy.

Scientists estimate there are millions of trees on earth. I couldn’t believe that those trees can have a healing(治愈的)effect on people.
According to World Health Organization, 40 percent of American adults have at least two chronic(慢性病的)diseases, which include high blood pressure, mood disorders, heart problems and diabetes. According to the International Association of Applied Psychology, lower stress, better moods, better brain activity and even happiness can all be linked to spending time in the great outdoors. That’s why there are dozens of programs that prescribe nature as a potential form of healing. Nature is everywhere.
There are two major theories as to why nature is so good for our brains. The first one is called attention restoration theory. When we spend time in busy urban environments, all the hard edges, traffic, lights and people everywhere really make us have to constantly focus our attention on these things. Whereas when you spend time in nature, it helps restore your powers of attention and reduce that tiredness and bad-temper. The second major theory is called stress reduction theory. So basically, when we spend time in nature after stressful events, it helps us feel better and recover faster.
When I recommended nature for the first time to a patient of mine, he actually just nodded his head and said, “You’re absolutely right. When I spend more time in nature, I feel better.” And so, I think healthcare providers have to get over our own traditional mental views against this new sort of lifestyle, and prescribe something evidence-based, like nature time more often.
This is worth the effort to do. You need to get out of doors and just be surrounded by the greenery and by nature. You’ll feel calmer. You’ll feel less depressed and less anxious. It’s just a great way to deal with the stress of modern life.
28.Which word can replace the underlined word “prescribe”?
A.Practice. B.Provide. C.Suggest. D.Explore.
29.What is the function of paragraph 2?
A.To clarify a concept. B.To lead in the topic.
C.To make a conclusion. D.To provide evidence.
30.How does nature help people according to the two major theories?
A.Refresh oneself. B.Live a better life.
C.Improve urban environments. D.Deal with stressful issues.
31.What can be inferred according to paragraph 4?
A.It is not easy to get in nature.
B.Nature treatment is still unpopular.
C.Most patients prefer nature treatment.
D.Doctors usually recommend nature to patients.

The term sponge (海绵) city might bring to mind a creative image of a city made of sponges, but actual definition of sponge cities isn’t as literal as it seems.
Sponge city is a term that originated in China to describe urban spaces that are re-designed with areas for greenery. They absorb storm-water the way a sponge takes up excess water! These areas deals wit flooding naturally by replacing impermeable roads with permeable (透水的) green spaces. These “sponges” cool cities, cleanse air pollution and remove dirt from storm-water before they enter our drinking water sources. Several tools and technologies can be adopted in a sponge city. Employing sustainable methods like covering walls and roofs with plants is one method. Another technique uses layers of permeable soil covered by greenery that traps rainwater and run-off.
These and other concepts are used throughout the world under different names like green infrastructure (基建), low-impact development, and sensitive urban design. The approach, regardless of the name, focuses on controlling flooding and water pollution. Many cities around the world are suffering from flood events. In recent years, 60% of China’s large-sized cities have flooded—killing hundreds and displacing more than a million people.
Flooding has increased because of the overuse of concrete surfaces, called “gray infrastructure”. Landscape architects realized the need to make cities more “spongy” by working with their local climate and natural features to design appropriate solutions.
In Philadelphia, a project called “Green City, Clean Waters” was developed after the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) enforced the federal Clean Water Act there in 2011. To date, the city has “greened” at least 2,200 acres of land and used a mix of solutions like rain gardens, restoring wetlands, and green infrastructure in their plan.
However, implementing sponge plans is often difficult because policymakers often need to be convinced to enact them. Despite this, cities around the world are thriving after the use of the Sponge City approach.
32.What is the primary goal of the sponge city design?
A.To preserve biodiversity. B.To fight against flooding.
C.To gather more rainwater. D.To improve living standard.
33.What can be learned about a sponge city?
A.It is made of eco-friendly sponge materials.
B.It is a new kind of city only existing in China.
C.It manages rainwater by increasing permeable spaces.
D.It requires the complete removal of traditional buildings.
34.Why does the author mention Philadelphia?
A.To introduce the origin of the sponge city concept.
B.To emphasize the importance of the Clean Water Act.
C.To give an example of an effective sponge city project.
D.To explain the difficulties in carrying out sponge plans.
35.Which might be the best title for the text?
A.Development of the Term “Sponge City”. B.Sustainable Urban Planning Strategies.
C.Shortcomings of Gray Urban Infrastructure. D.Benefit and Success of Sponge City Plans.

BE A GOOD TOURIST
Tourism can be both good and bad. Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates lots of jobs for locals, but it may also bring some problems.
One growing problem is tourists who want to prove that they have visited a destination. Tourists have used paint, rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor Temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, memorial stones at the bottom of Oomolangma, and many, many other places. Thousands of tourist sites are being destroyed by tourists who “love them to death”. 36 If you want to leave a mark on the world, do it by changing someone’s life with kindness and love. Pass kindness along to future generations, not destruction.
Another big problem in some places has been tourists disturbing the local people and life. 37 For example, Chiang Mai University in Thailand and Yonsei University in South Korea have great numbers of tourists visiting their campuses and walking through their libraries and other public areas, taking pictures of students, and disturbing their studies. Another example is Sanlifun, a neighbourhood in Beijing, China. Some tourists love to party there late into the night, making it difficult for locals to sleep. 38 Have fun in a way that does not disturb others.
39 . However, The number of problems from tourists is endless: walking in large groups without considering others who need to walk by, crossing roads without thinking of local traffic laws, and many more. 40 Be the best, kindest, most polite tourist possible. Remember, whenever you step outside your country’s borders, you are representing your country to the rest of the world.
A.I have three words for tourists like this: please be considerate.
B.Travelers should always follow local customs and traditions.
C.The only way to solve the problem of the terrible tourist is to make sure that you are not one!
D.For instance, some tourists take photos of locals without permission.
E.I have three words for people like this: please stop it.
F.Tourists should avoid crowded places to reduce their impact.
G.These actions show disrespect to both the environment and local culture.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As the school year wrapped up and the first days of summer vacation stretched out before them, Max, Ava, and Sam had a perfect day planned at their usual community park. This tidy little park was their go - to spot for unwinding and just enjoying some precious leisure time.
Max rushed ahead with a soccer ball under his arm, Ava and Sam trailing closely behind, full of energy. It was the kind of day that promised endless fun and carefree laughter. But as they stepped into the park, their heart sank. The once - beloved playground was now a chaotic mess of discarded trash (乱扔的垃圾) — candy wrappers stuck in the slide’s metal bars, plastic bottles rolling in the wind, and chip bags lying underfoot.
“Look at this!” Ava shouted in disbelief as she pointed to the garbage near the swings.
Max’s face darkened with frustration. The three friends stood frozen, their eyes scanning the playground area. The once clean slides and swings were now buried under a layer of candy wrappers and plastic bottles. Ava cast a glance (瞥一眼) at the walking trails, where garbage seemed to have taken over, with discarded bags and cans lying everywhere. Sam looked out at the grassy fields — a disaster. The park was vast, but every corner seemed to have been touched by the carelessness of others.
“Who would be so thoughtless?” Max whispered, shaking his head.
Sam kicked a plastic bottle in anger, sending it flying across the grass. “It’s not just thoughtless — it’s disrespectful.”
Ava sighed thoughtfully but suddenly her face lit up. “We can’t just leave it like this. Why don’t we do something about it? We can, say, form a Cleanup Squad (清洁小分队)…” she said, her voice soft but determined.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Max and Sam exchanged an excited glance.

Unexpectedly, other parkgoers joined in as they did the cleanup.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】

24.How did the author get to know America?
A.From her relatives. B.From her mother.
C.From books and pictures. D.From radio.
25.Upon leaving for America the author felt ______.
A.confused B.excited C.worried D.amazed
26.What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 4?
A.She worked as a translator B.She attended a lot of job interviews
C.She paid telephone bills for her family D.She helped her family with her English
27.The author believes that ______.
A.her future will be free from troubles
B.it is difficult to learn to become patient
C.there are more good things than bad things
D.good things will happen if one keeps trying.
C
D

D
