Panda says, "Please..."

Sonny is just a little panda.
"Actually, I'm quite big now!" he says proudly.
Sonny lives in the forest with his mummy, where they spend a lot of their time roaming around, looking for food.
"Yum!" says Sonny, munching the last bit of a bamboo shoot. "I want some more."
"It's better to say that you would like some more," says Mummy.
"I would like some more bamboo," echoes Sonny.
"Here you are," says Mummy, passing Sonny a clutch of shoots.
"Thank you!" says Sonny.
The next day, Sonny remembers what to say.
"Mummy, I would like some more bamboo," he says carefully.
"Very good," says Mummy, "but it's even better to say a special word at the end. That special word is please."
"I would like some more, please," says Sonny.
"Wonderful," says Mummy, and she passes Sonny a whole fistful of shoots.
Panda cubs need to eat a lot of bamboo to help them to grow.
Later, when Mummy is bathing in the river, Sonny decides he'd like another snack. He wants to use that special word Mummy taught him, but he can't remember what it is.
Sonny goes to find his friend, Dot, the leopard cat.
"Dot," he says. "I've forgotten a special word that Mummy taught me. Do you know what it might be?"
"Is it whiskers?" says Dot. "That's my favourite word."
"That is a good word," says Sonny. "But it's not the one I was looking for."
Next, Sonny asks his neighbour, Ruby, the red panda.
"Ruby," he says, "I've forgotten a very special word. Do you know any special words?"
"Smile," says red panda. "A smile is very special."
Sonny nods. "You're right," he says. "But that's not my special word."
Finally, Sonny spots a familiar face nearby.
"Mo!" he calls up to the golden monkey. "I'm trying to remember a special word."
"Aha," says Mo. "Is it pardon?"
"No."
"Is it thanks?"
"No."
"Then I think I know just the word you're looking for. It rhymes with trees!"
And with that, Mo swings from branch to branch, out into the forest.
"Wait!" Sonny calls.
But Mo is chuckling into the distance.
"Rhymes with trees…" Sonny mutters to himself as he climbs the nearest trunk. "Trees, trees, trees…"
Sonny works his way through the alphabet to find words that rhyme with trees:
bees...
knees...
peas.
But none of those were his special word.
Finally, Mummy shouts up to him.
"Come down for tea now, Sonny," she says.
Sonny pauses. "There's a better way to say that," he replies cheekily.
"I would like you to come down for tea now," says Mummy.
Sonny waits again. "Isn't there a special word you could use, Mummy?" he says, giggling.
"Come down for tea, please," says Mummy.
"PLEASE!" says Sonny. "That's the special word!"
And Sonny climbs down from the tree, happy at last.
After an extra big tea for an extra big panda, Sonny yawns.
"Time for bed now," says Mummy.
"Just one more thing," says Sonny.
"Would you like some more bamboo?" asks Mummy.
"No," Sonny replies.
"Would you like a drink of water?"
"No."
"Then what is it?" asks Mummy.
Sonny snuggles up to his mummy and whispers in her ear.
"Can I have a cuddle…please?"
Mummy gives him a great big bedtime squeeze.
"You don't have to ask me nicely for cuddles," she says. "You can have as many cuddles as you like, whenever you want them."
"That's good," says Sonny. "I like cuddles."
"Me too," says Mummy. "Me too."
See you again soon, Sonny!
