Making Decisions
Once upon a time there was a miser.
He loved his gold. He did not want to spend it.
He wanted to keep the gold safe.
He dug a hole near a tree.
He put the gold in the hole.
Every week, he visited his gold.
He dug it up. He admired it.
One week, a robber saw the miser visiting the gold.
The robber waited for the miser to leave.
Then the robber dug up the gold.
He stole it and ran away.
The next week, the miser went to visit his gold.
The gold was gone!
The miser screamed. Then he wept.
A girl saw the old man weeping.
The miser told her about the gold.
"Did you spend any of the gold?" the girl asked.
"No. I only dug it up to admire it," he answered.
"Then keep coming each week," said the girl.
"You can look at the hole. It will do you just as much good."

The Star Money
Once upon a time, there was a poor woman with a kind heart. Though she owned little, everyone admired her for her kindness. One cold night, she walked home through a forest.
She came across a hungry boy. "Do you have any food?" the boy asked. The woman had only one piece of bread. She gave it to the boy and walked on.
Next, she came across a shivering girl. "A robber stole my coat," said the girl. "I'm very cold!" The woman had only one coat. She gave it to the girl and walked on.
Returning home, the woman looked up at the stars. A bunch of stars fell to the ground. She picked them up. They had turned to gold! The woman wept with joy. Her kindness had been rewarded.
