Dear Cathy,
My parents and I reached England three days ago. Finally, my jet
lag (时差反应) has gone away. We’ve visited several tourist
attractions so far. Among them, Stonehenge is the most amazing one to
me and I’m going to tell you more about it!
7
Stonehenge is located in the south of England. It is a mysterious
collection of huge stones, each of which is up to five meters tall and
weighs about 25 tons. Those stones were put close together in a circular
pattern(圆形图案). When I stood next to it, it was so huge that I
felt I was very short and small!
I know you’re very curious (好奇的) about why people built
Stonehenge. Although no one is sure about the answer, let me tell you
some popular guesses. Some people believe that ancient scientists used it
to study the sun and the stars, while some think that it was where
some important ceremonies were held. What do you think?
8
Because of numerous mysteries and stories about Stonehenge,
thousands of visitors from all over the world pay a visit to it every
year. It has become one of the most famous places of interest in the
UK.
When you visit England in the future, don’t miss out on this
wonder! I’m sure you will be amazed!
Best wishes,
Pamela
