Here are four of the greatest painters from China. Li Cheng (919-967, the Five Dynasties and the early Song Dynasty) Li Cheng contributed greatly to one of the golden ages of landscape paintings in world history. During his time, he was considered the best landscape painter ever. He is remembered especially for the winter landscapes he created and for simple composition of tall, old evergreens set against a dry landscape. Several of his paintings are in diluted (稀释的) ink which gives them a foggy appearance. Fan Kuan (990-1020, the Song Dynasty) Fan Kuan began his career by modeling his works on those of Li Cheng but later created his own style claiming that the only true teacher was nature. His finest work Travelers Among Mountains and Streams is a masterpiece of landscape painting and many future artists turned to it for inspiration. Qi Baishi (1864-1957) One of the greatest contemporary Chinese painters, Qi Baishi is known for not being influenced by Western styles like most of the painters of his time. He can be considered as the last great traditional painter of China. Qi Baishi painted almost everything from insects to landscapes. He is regarded highly in Chinese art for the freshness and spontaneity (自然) that he brought to the familiar types of insects, birds and flowers. Wu Guanzhong (1919-2010) Widely considered as the founder of modern Chinese painting, Wu Guanzhong has painted various aspects of China, like its architecture, plants, animals, people and landscapes. Wu was influenced by post-Impressionist art and went on to combine Western and Chinese styles to create a unique form of modern art. In 1992, he became the first living Chinese artist whose work was exhibited at the British Museum. 21. What do we know about Fan Kuan? ________ A. He copied many artists’ works. B. He considered nature as the best teacher. C. He considered Li Cheng as his teacher. D. His works gained worldwide recognition. 22. Who brought newness to insect painting? ________ A. Li Cheng. B. Fan Kuan. C. Qi Baishi. D. Wu Guanzhong. 23. What did the four Chinese painters have in common? ________ A. They created landscape paintings. B. They were modern painters. C. They were influenced by Western art. D. They were pioneers in Chinese art history. B Most people in their eighties would consider themselves lucky not to have health problems, but this is not the case with Toshisuke Kanazawa. The 82-year-old Japanese bodybuilder is not only in perfect physical condition, he also looks better than a lot of men a quarter his age. Kanazawa is living proof (证明)that you’re never too old to hit the gym and achieve the body you’ve always dreamed of. A champion bodybuilder in his youth, Kanazawa stopped exercising completely after he retired at age 34, drinking, smoking and eating whatever he liked. It wasn’t until he turned 50 that he got his motivation to regain the perfect body of his younger years. Kanazawa’s wife felt sick frequently, and the former bodybuilder remembered that she had never been happier than when he won the national championship. So to please her he decided to return to the gym and completely change his diet. His workout schedule had to be adjusted to his age as well. In his youth, he would spend up to six hours training in the gym every day, and his body would recover within two days after a particularly intensive(强化的) workout, but that was not the case anymore. He cut the daily gym time to three hours and started giving his body one week to recover after exercising every muscle group. Kanazawa’s efforts paid off. In 2016, at the age of 80, Kanazawa defeated many opponents and placed sixth in the world in a contest for bodybuilders over 65, and won the admiration of the crowd. Sport keeps this elderly man healthy, as he claims not to have suffered so much as a cold since he started bodybuilding again at age 50. “I want to be a super old man in the bodybuilder community,” Kanazawa said, “If I have a goal, I can continue moving forward. I have to work much harder.” 24. What can we learn about Kanazawa from Paragraph 2? A. He started bodybuilding at the age of 34. B. He seldom exercised when he was young C. He had serious health problems in his childhood. D. He developed an unhealthy lifestyle after he retired. 25. Why did Kanazawa decide to take up exercise again? A. To help change his diet. B. To cheer up his wife. C. To stand to his promise. D. To recover from illness. 26. What did old Kanazawa do while rebuilding his body? A. He took the same workout schedule. B. He combined relaxation with exercise. C. He turned to the doctors for advice. D. He spent over six hours training every day. 27. What can be the best title for the text? A. Understanding: A Guarantee of Happiness B. Champion: The Result of Workout C. Exercise: The Best Medicine for Illnesses D. Bodybuilding: No Age Limit C Teenagers have long been told that being active and taking part in various sports is good for their health. But new research suggests that too much sport for teenagers could negatively(消极地)affect their well-being(健康)just as much as too little sport. Researchers from Switzerland say their study suggests that 14 hours of physical activity a week is best for promoting good health in teenagers. However, they found that more than 14 hours appears to be detrimental to their health. To reach their findings, the researchers surveyed more than 1, 245teenagers aged between 16 and 20 from Switzerland. All participants were required to answer questions regarding height and weight, sports practice, sports injuries and well-being. Their well-being was assessed using the World Health Organization(WHO)Well-Being Index, which provides scores between 0 and 25. The overall(总体的)average well-being score for all participants was 17. The researchers divided sports participation into low(0-3. 5 hours a week) average(3.6-10. 5hours), high (10.6-17. 5 hours), and very high (more than 17. 5 hours). The researchers found that participants in the low and very high activity groups were more than twice as likely to have well-being scores below 13, compared with participants in the average group. The researchers found that the highest well-being scores were gotten by participants who carried out around 14 hours of physical activity a week, but exercising beyond 14 hours resulted in lower well-being scores. Commenting on their findings, the researchers say physical activity has been connected with positive emotional well-being, reduced sadness, anxiety and stress disorders, and improved self-respect in teenagers. The researchers note that their study stresses the importance for physicians caring for teenagers to check their level of sports practice and ask them about their well-being. Teenagers probably need a supportive and closer follow-up of their health and well-being. The findings can inform guideline groups who produce recommendations on sports practice for teenagers. 28. What does the underlined word “detrimental” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Useless. B. Essential. C. Beneficial. D. Harmful. 29. What did the researchers find out? A. Too much sport may harm teenagers’ health. B. Low sports participation causes overweight. C. A large amount of sport means higher scores. D. Teenagers with average sport are hardly stressed. 30 Where does this text probably come from? A. A TV interview. B. A medical journal. C. A business report. D. A fitness advertisement. 31. What is the text mainly about? A. Measures to improve teenagers’well-being. B. Concerns of physicians about teenagers’well-being. C. Importance of physical activity on teenagers’well-being. D. Relationship between sports participation and teenagers’well-being. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Benefits of Reading to Children Reading aloud has many positive benefits for children of all ages. I'm a nurse and I love kids and dogs. I wanted to use my dog to bring her joy, comfort and confidence. That morning in January, her teacher led us to a room by the school office. “Sally hasn't spoken outside her home for two years, "she told me. “Her parents have taken her to doctors, but nothing has worked. " Sally stood shyly just inside the doorway. Her eyes brightened when she noticed my dog. “It is my dog, Bella.” I said. “Would you like to play with her? Bella doesn't know anyone here and she'd like to meet you. She can understand my hand signals(手势). Would you like to see that?" Sally nodded. I showed Bella some hand signals, then Bella lay down and then rolled over. Sally was cheered up. “She'll do it for you too. I can teach you.” I said. I could see that Sally treated Bella as her best friend and they were happy to stay with each other. Soon Bella was able to follow Sally's commands(指令). I could see something had been changed little by little. One morning, when she was playing with Bella, I heard a low voice “Good dog”. I wanted to jump for joy. Sally spoke a little more each week, only to Bella at first, but then to me. Later, she started giving voice commands with her hand signals and her confidence rose. Still, she hadn't spoken in her classroom. “Could you bring Bella to my class and show the other kids that she can understand your voice commands?” Sally asked me one day. An idea came to my mind. Then I said, “Why don't you do it yourself? I know you can.” She agreed. I’m Li Hua, the president of the English Club. It’s my great honor to make a speech here. My topic today is My Favorite Chinese Festival. My favorite Chinese festival is the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, families gather together to appreciate the full moon and enjoy delicious moon-cakes. People often give moon-cakes to each other as gifts, symbolizing unity and completeness. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes decorate streets and parks, creating a festive atmosphere. The Mid-Autumn Festival is more than just a celebration — it’s a time to appreciate our loved ones and the beauty of unity symbolized by the full moon. This festival teaches us the values of togetherness and gratitude, making it truly special to me. Let’s embrace and promote our rich traditions together. Thank you for listening. 第二节 (满分25分) 【73题答案】 【答案】Paragraph 1: Now, Sally stood nervously in front of her class with Bella sitting by her side. Her classmates focused on her, waiting for her to speak. But still, she couldn't make a sound at all! Sally returned to her seat, not looking at anyone, not even Bella. Paragraph 2: The next week, she told me she wanted to try again, looking up at me with determination. I agreed to give her another chance. After she walked to the front of the classroom, all the kids were silent. For a few seconds, she just stood shyly without saying anything. Then, she whispered, "This is Bella."
