例文
The Harder, the Better
During my second year of junior high, I struggled with math. Low scores made me anxious, but I refused to give up.
Every day after school, I reviewed problems, asked my teacher for help, and practiced until midnight. There were moments of frustration, but I kept telling myself: “The harder it is, the stronger I’ll become.” Finally, my efforts paid off. In the final exam, my math score improved significantly!
This experience taught me that difficulties are like sharpening stones—the more we push through, the brighter we shine. Now I truly understand: “The harder the challenge, the better the growth.”

Big World, Yi Yangqianxi’s new movie, has warmed the hearts of many. Yi stars as Liu Chunhe, a young man with cerebral palsy (脑瘫). Chunhe helps his grandmother realize her dream of performing on stage. He also discovers himself in this process.
The movie opens with Chunhe climbing the stairs. His steps are shaky. It looks like he might fall at any moment. Indeed, Chunhe doesn’t have great control of his body. He needs the bed’s handrail to get out of bed. His fingers are bent, and his speech is unclear. After saying a long sentence, he stops to catch his breath. Even eating can be dangerous because it’s easy for him to choke (噎住).
People often treat him unkindly and look at him with pity, fear or dislike. This makes Chunhe’s life even harder. But the movie sends a strong message: Cerebral palsy is not silly! Chunhe doesn’t need pity or to be seen as weak. He needs respect and the chance to live as a “little me” in a big world. He reminds us that we can all define our own happiness, even though we are not “perfect.”
Yi spent a lot of time watching people with cerebral palsy and preparing for the role. It turns out so real that the people watching the movie forget about the big star for 131 minutes. Recently, many people have fallen in love with the cute marmots (土拨鼠), in the movie Ne Zha 2. This led to a trend of people buying real marmots online as pets. However many organizations have quickly warned the public that these seemingly cute wild animals are actually high-risk carriers of the plague (鼠疫).
Marmots are common rodents (啮齿目动物) in northwest China. Listed as a second-class protected animals in China, they always choose cool mountain grasslands, open deserts, and rocky hills as their homes. They are good at digging holes. Fresh grass, juicy plants, and treats like apples or lettuce fill their-diet. Living in family groups, these social creatures work together and communicate often to survive in the hard environment.
Marmots may look harmless, but these furry animals carry plague bacteria (鼠疫菌), which cause a deadly disease that killed over 100 million people in historic outbreaks like the Black Death. This infection (传染) can spread through small cuts or even breath droplets, causing high fever and bleeding. Without treatment, it remains highly dangerous with chances to live as low as zero.
The National Health Commission advises:
Keep safe distance when meeting wild marmots
Never keep them as pets, touch, or feed them
Seek medical care in time if you develop fever or lumps after contact
The recent online sales of marmots have raised alarms. While their round faces might make us want to get close, health organizations remind everyone that cuteness isn’t worth risking lives.

That future is almost here. “I think it’s going to happen. Definitely (确切地) in ten years … and hopefully much, much faster.” said Sebastian Thrun in 2021. At that time, his young company Kitty Hawk Corporation was working on developing a flying car known as eVTOL, or Electronic Vertical Take-Off and Landing vehicle (车辆).
Flying to work or school sounds unbelievable. Not only is it fun to fly, but “there would never be traffic again, because the sky is very, very large,” says Thrun. He also thinks eVTOL could be greener than common cars. “We go much faster. We go in a straight line. Wje fly on less energy,” he says.
So far, though, flying cars haven’t taken off as a product. Will their day come? There are still many problems to solve. Their high price means most people won’t be able to afford one. So some companies are developing them as air taxis that people could pay to ride. The main problem with flying cars is safety. Accidents in the air are dangerous to both the passengers and anyone on the ground beneath. To make eVTOLs safer, many developers are aiming to make them self-flying—no human pilot required.
Another problem is space. Most aircraft need long runways to take off and land. Lifting straight up and down like a helicopter solves this problem. But eVTOLs still need special spaces called vertiports, for take-off and landing. Finding places to put these could be tricky (棘手的), especially in crowded cities. But maybe some could go on top of buildings.
What do you think? Would you enjoy riding to school or to visit a friend in a self-flying taxi? Are flying cars a good idea, or should we find other ways to get around in the near future?
27.What is Sebastian Thrun’s opinion about the future of flying cars?
A.He thinks it will never happen. B.He thinks it will happen in the next century.
C.He believes it will happen in ten years or sooner. D.He is not sure about the future of flying cars.
28.Why are some companies developing flying cars as air taxis?
A.To solve safety problems. B.To make them cheaper.
C.To provide rides for people. D.To compete with common cars.
29.What is the possible structure of the passage?
A.B. C. D.
30.What is probably the best title of the passage?
A.Is a Flying Car Your Dream Car? B.The History of Air Travel Technologies
C.Will Future Flying Cars Need Drivers? D.The Exciting World of Electric Taxis

All they see is a common young man with special needs. Yi’s hard work has helped the movie draw duo attention to people like Chunhe. Their lives should be made easier, not harder.

【答案】例文
The Harder, the Better
During my second year of junior high, I struggled with math. Low scores made me anxious, but I refused to give up.
Every day after school, I reviewed problems, asked my teacher for help, and practiced until midnight. There were moments of frustration, but I kept telling myself: “The harder it is, the stronger I’ll become.” Finally, my efforts paid off. In the final exam, my math score improved significantly!
This experience taught me that difficulties are like sharpening stones—the more we push through, the brighter we shine. Now I truly understand: “The harder the challenge, the better the growth.”
