Reading and discussing, too, read the text and answer the following questions. New adventures in VRNAR, two of the most exciting, innovative and visible technologies are virtual reality V, R, and its close cousin, augmented reality AR. Virtual realities where a person enters into a digital world, usually via a three d headset. Augmented reality can take several different forms, but IT involves placing virtual overlays over a real scene to see how these technologies work. Let us look at the experiences of the dong shine, a seventy two year old widow or from rural shandean as a present from his son. Lee received high speed train tickets to tour china. However, they had to avoid the trip after he suffered a heart attack and ended up needing bypass surgery. In being in the old days, bypass surgery required opening up the patience chest in ribs. IT would leave a huge scar and recovery could take more than two months. Lee was lucky, however, as his surgeon use the latest technology, he began by inserting a tiny camera and small surgical instruments through five millimeter holes made in least chest. He then put on a special pair of AR glasses and stood overly as he looked down at least chest, a realistic three d model of lease heart. And the surgical instruments were projected onto the lenses of the AR glasses, along with all of these vital signs using VR gloves. The doctor then manipulated the surgical instruments. He was not really touching the instruments when he did so, but rather, his hand motions were transmitted to a computer, and the computer told the instruments what to do. And even though he was not really touching anything, the gloves gave the surgeon the same feeling as though the surgical tools were in the palms of his hands. The image on his lenses also displayed his hands as though they were inside least chest using the surgical instruments. Using this technology, the Operation was a roaring success, even though he was in great pain before the Operation, he suffered only very minor pain afterwards and felt Better than he had in years. However, as a precaution, they still needed to stay two weeks in hospital, and so as tour of china had to be cancelled at the same time, the doctors wanted him to be up and walking about to help him heal faster. As IT turns out, the rehabilitation center at the hospital had facilities for VR world tours. This amounted to a platform that least still on and could walk on in any direction. The surface of the platform moved with his feet, so in truth, he was not really walking anywhere. However, he wore AV, R headset in VR gloves, so he had the illusion that he was walking through a city. When a virtual van drove by, Lewis shocked to hear the engine, see the ground shaking, feel the wind blowing in his face. He was even able to reach out and pick up an apple in a market and smell fragrant flowers using VR. He walked through rome and enjoyed its ancient ruins. He traveled to match a peach in perou to experience a terrific sunrise, climb to the summit of como yma and then stroll along the rim of the grand canyon. He was also able to visit many of the places that he had planned to tour in china, such as the temple of heaven, the great wall and the Terry kota army. But his most interesting trip was to the love museum in paris, because with his VR gloves, he was able to do something which is usually impossible in real life. He could pick up the various works of art, closely examine them and touch them with his hands. Lee was also able to have virtual visitors, for example, wearing AR glasses. He played board games with his granddaughter thing being in shannon. When he looked through the glasses, an image of binging ing was projected onto the lenses, showing her sitting in the chair opposite him with a virtual board game in front of her. Using VR gloves, he could move the game pieces. The gloves made IT seem as though he was actually touching them, and even as though he was actually padding being being s head. Naturally, this is exactly what he saw through the glasses as well, even though bang bang was many hundred kilometers away. Near the end of his hospital stay, his friends held a virtual birthday party for him. Using his AR glasses, he could see and talk to them and enjoy their company. However, as soon as he took the glasses off, the room was empty. Once again, he realized that while VRNAR technology was not quite the same as real life, he had nonetheless enriched his life in many ways.
