Twentv-five-year-old Ana Victoria Espino in Mexico has become the world's first lawyer with
Down syndrome(唐氏综合征). It has made history in Mexico, Having studied in the institution's
law school for five years, she received her law degree from Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas.
In Mexico, there is no bar exam-getting a law degree is enough to be a lawyer. However.
rather than defending people in the court of law, Espino aims to use her legal knowledge to improve
conditions for people with disabilities.
For Espino, becoming a lawyer was a long-time dream. Espino grew up with a strong family
network including her parents and three siblings(兄弟姐妹),which has been the foundation of her
educational and professional careers. In the classroom, she also received helpful accommodations to
enter high school like being able to study independently for the entrance exam.
After graduating, Espino applied for a university and stood out in the admission exam. Howev
er, the school's headmaster refused her application despite her excellent grades in the exam, because
the school lacked the conditions for a person with Down syndrome.
Moved by her determined spirit, a professor offered to help Espino. Throughout her five years
of college, the teacher accompanied Espino to all of her classes, helped her study, and prepared her
for exams.
2
Espino's career as an advocate for people with disabilities predates(早于) her pursuing a de
gree. She often shares her story to bring light to people with disabilities. She is also a talented art-
ist. holding several exhibitions.
As for the future, Espino has a very clear image of what she wants to achieve. She said, "I am

Adyances in generative artificial intelligence (AD have enabled authentic-sounding speech syn
thesis(语音合成) to the point that a person can no longer distinguish whether they are talking to
another human or a deepfake(深度伪造). If a person's own voice is“cloned"by a third party with
out their agreement, bad guys can use it to send any message they want.
Computer scientist and engineer Ning Zhang has developed a new method to prevent unauthor
ized speech synthesis before it takes place: a tool called AntiFake.
Traditional deepfake detection methods only work after the damage is done. However, Anti
Fake prevents voice data from being synthesized into an audio deepfake beforehand. This tool turns
the tables on cybercriminals(网络罪犯)by using similar voice cloning techniques they employ, bu
for voice protection. The software complicates voice data extraction and feature identification crucial
for voice synthesis. "We're using an opposite AI technique originally used by cybercriminals, but
now we're using it against them,”Zhang explained. "We slightly change the recorded audio, just
enough to make it unusable for voice clone training while still sounding natural to humans."
Ben Zhao, a professor of computer science at University of Chicago, says that the software.
like all digital security systems, will never provide complete protection. But, he adds that it can
raise the bar and limit the attack to a smaller group of individuals with significant resources.
AntiFake can already protect shorter voice recordings against cloning. The creators of the tool
believe that it could be extended to protect larger audio documents or music from misuse. But the
methods and tools that are developed must be continuously adapted because cybercriminals will learr
and grow with them.
5. What is the primary purpose of AntiFake?
A. To improve the quality of synthetic speech.
B. To clone voices without the owner's approval
C. To detect deepfakes after they have been created.
D. To stop unapproved speech generation from happening
3
6. How does AntiFake differ from these traditional methods?
A. It prevents audio deepfakes in advance
B. It cannot detect deepfakes until created
C. It only works on short voice recordings
D. It relies on human listeners to identify deepfakes
7. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Developers should focus on short voice recordings.
B. The battle against deepfakes requires ongoing efforts.
C. AntiFake is ineffective against advanced cloning techniques.
D. AntiFake provides permanent solutions to the deepfake threat
8. What is the best title for the text?
A. The Future of Voice Technology
B. A Method for Detecting AI Deepfakes
C. The Challenge of Telling Human Voices
D. A Tool to Keep AI from Stealing Your Voice

People perceive happiness differently, with some seeing the glass half full while others half
empty. Sonja Lyubomirsky, a social psychologist, explained that happiness comprises positive emo
tions and life satisfaction. 1 Can you change your set range to be a happier person? She believes
that we can change how we think and how we behave and also we can change our habits or develof
a new habit. Happy people tend to have such certain habits.
Go with the "flow", Be absorbed in what you do. "When you're so fully engaged in what you're
H
doing that you don't notice the passage of time, you are in a state called 'flow', which is associated
with joy,"Lyubomirsky explained." 2 On the contrary, try something as casual and relaxing as
completing a group project at the office or enjoying a hobby with your partner."
3 When it comes to your happiness level, personal relationships have a bigger impact than
money, a job title or even your health. "Spending more quality time with your partner, spouse, or
kids, or reconnecting with old friends, are sure-fire ways to increase your own and others' average
levels of joy.” Lyubomirsky said"pick a relationship in need of strengthening, and invest time and
energy in healing, cultivating and enjoying it." 4
Practice random acts of kindness and express gratitude. Take a moment to do nice things for
others. "Being kind to other people brings on a lot of positive results. It makes you feel generous
and capable, leads you to feel grateful about your own situation, and gives you a greater sense of in
terconnectedness with the world,"Lyubomirsky said." 5 And, in turn, the benefit helps nur-
ture your own self-esteem and help get you through the rest of the day or week."
We hope these three tips help you elevate your happiness game.
A. Manage your circles.
B. Celebrate good news.
C. This small investment may go a long way.
D. It also gives joy to other people and leads them to like you more.
E. Researchers measure those components by asking people such questions.
