When the news broke, feelings of anger shook my mind and I kept myself alone so no one would see me cry(at least for an hour). For the next week, it weighed on me and I would become sad at the mention of it. Soon, I recovered, but it had been a week of disappointment. However, after calming myself down, what I’ve discovered is the value of hard work in preparing for these tasks, not because it increases your chances of success, but rather because it leaves you feeling satisfied regardless of the outcome. You will not only come out well-prepared but with pride for the time you’ve dedicated to it. Only with hard-earned pride can you recognize the true value of your practice and when you’re able to do so, your results become secondary. Afterwards you feel useful and intentional emotions that are incredibly rewarding. If you don’t put enough work into preparing, you may have unrealistic expectations and be more troubled if you don’t succeed. This is where my jazz band story applies; I had inadequately prepared for the audition, cared a great deal about its result and thus took it poorly when I didn’t make it. After realising this, when auditions(to the higher-level jazz band)were again announced, I applied what I learned from my previous mistake. Every day, I would practice the sheet music until I knew it so well that I no longer cared about the outcome. I developed pride not only for the time I’d spent preparing but for my instrument. Needless to say, when the day of the audition came, it went a lot better than the first time. Allow me to conclude by saying that everything happens for a reason. Yes, failure is tough. But, even if you’re feeling useless, angry, or disappointed, remember that regardless of the outcome, your effort has value and that in the end, you won’t regret it. 4. How did the author’s feelings change after the first audition? A. Anger—calm—disappointment—happiness. B. Anger—disappointment—calm—happiness. C. Disappointment——anger—happiness—calm. D. Disappointment—happiness—anger—calm. 5. What can be inferred about the author’s second audition? A. Working hard brought him self-satisfaction. B. His main purpose of preparation was to ensure success. C. His success came with intelligence and pride. D. He set higher goals for it. 6. According to the last paragraph, what is the most important to the author? A. Effort. B. Process. C. Success. D. Outcome. 7. What can we learn from the author’s story? A. The harder you fall, the higher you bounce. B. A smooth sea never makes a skilled sailor. C. The only real failure is the failure to try. D. Failure is worth your efforts. C Although humans domesticated cats nearly 12,000 years ago, your dear friend is still somewhat of a mystery. The idea that cats have night vision contributes to the mystery. Do cats have night vision? Not exactly. But they can see very well in low light. Cats’ large pupils, which are about 50% larger than humans’, allow more light into their eyes. This extra light helps them to see in the dark. People’s homes are rarely in complete darkness — there’s always a little light coming in from somewhere. Cats actually aren’t nocturnal (夜间活动的); they are creatures that hunt at dusk and dawn, the time of day when many other animals to be hunted become more active. How well do cats see in the dark? Much better than their pet parents. A human’s round pupils are no match for their pupils. Observe your cats: Their pupils will become narrower in the bright sunlight and then become wider in the dark. A cat’s vision is very powerful because of the strategic shape and movement of their eyes. They also see the world mostly in shades of gray, which is perfect for low light. “A cat has the capacity to differentiate the intensity of light falling on its retina (视网膜) 135 times, compared to 10 times in a human, with a circular pupil,” Dr. Richard E. Goldstein, chief medical officer at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, tells The New York Times. In other words, their pupils give cats a big advantage over the humans when it comes to seeing in the dark because they’re much more effective at responding to how light enters their eyes. But you still have one visual advantage over your friend: Humans have better clearness of vision than cats, reports Business Insider. You can see more clearly than your little friend, but cats win when it comes to night vision. With your combined visual abilities, you and your cat make the perfect team. 8. What is the function of the first paragraph? A. To introduce the topic. B. To draw a conclusion. C. To explain a phenomenon. D. To illustrate the background. 9. What can we learn about cats? A. They can hardly stimulate our curiosity. B. They can see clearly even in full darkness. C. They have eyes fifty percent bigger than humans. D. They prefer to hunt at dawn rather than at night. 10. Why do cats see better than humans in the dark? A. Cats can brighten their eyes at night. B. Cats are masters in reacting to incoming light. C. Pupils of cats are larger and more adjustable to light. D. Shape of cats’ eyes helps them see gray better. 11. How does the author explain the findings in paragraph 5? A. By referring to experts’ words. B. By making comparisons. C. By giving examples. D. By introducing a concept. D If you’re a frequent flyer, you may have noticed that the wings of an aircraft have an additional component at the ends. It looks like the tail of a fish. Some ends are bent upwards, while some others are oval in shape! These sections of an aircraft wing are called winglets. “A winglet is an additional structural component of a wing structure with the primary function of reducing wingtip vortex (涡流)”. That’s the kind of definition that would make your knees weak, but let’s work through this definition in small steps. To understand the winglet, let’s first understand why an aircraft needs it. A significant source of drag is actually caused by the high pressure under the wing, which causes air to flow up and over the wingtip before spinning off (脱离) in a vortex. Vortex reduces fuel range and the speed of the aircraft, which may look beautiful in the sky but may cause an aircraft to lose stability and even result in an emergency situation. To avoid the formation of the vortexes, two solutions were explored as being possible. One was to manufacture an infinitely (无限地) long wing. There would be total separation of the airflow from the lower and upper surface, therefore preventing any vortexes from being formed. Obviously, there were some major issues with this. The other solution was to create a separation between the two differential pressure regions by introducing a structural component, which was called a “winglet”. Since the 1980’s, winglets have been a major part of future aircraft designs. For some old aircrafts, winglets were fitted after the plane’s introduction into the market. Winglets are a proven way to reduce drag, save fuel, cut carbon dioxide emissions, and reduce community noise. This helps the operating airlines save money by decreasing the amount of fuel consumed, as well as landing charges at airports. In other words, if you ever make a paper plane, be sure to bend the ends of the wing upwards just a little, and it will fly a bit further. It’s not cheating but it’s just science! 12. What does the underlined part mean in the second paragraph? A. Get one to be confused. B. Make one feel depressed. C. Let one experience fear. D. Help one to keep delighted. 13. What is the problem of the first solution? A. It is too costly. B. It takes too much time. C. It is unrealistic. D. It affects the environment. 14. What is the winglet intented to do? A. Prevent vortexes. B. Save fuel. C. Increase speed. D. Reduce noise. 15. What is the text mainly about? A. The benefits of a winglet. B. The means of aircraft security. C. The reasons for aircraft wingtips’ upward bending. D. The measures to make sure a plane flies further. When grade 8 came, we were excited as it was our final year before high school. However, beneath the surface of laughter and friendship, pressures were increasing. The class was divided into two groups: the athletes, led by Marco, a soccer player, and the artists, led by Sofia, a talented painter. Their conflict had become worse over the months, leading to the conflicts that upset the harmony of the classroom. The situation reached a boiling point during a school meeting when Marco and Sofia exchanged heated words over a mural (壁画) project that the school had planned. Marco believed that the athletes should have a more important role in the project, while Sofia argued that the artists deserved to lead the creative direction. Their argument quickly drew in their respective groups, and soon the classroom was filled with shouts and complaints. Seeing the chaos unfold, Mr. Ramirez, the head teacher, decided it was time to address the problem. Known for his calm manner and wisdom, he called for an emergency meeting after school. He gathered the students in the art room, where the project was to take place. The atmosphere was tense, with students crossing their arms and avoiding eye contact. “Thank you all for coming,” Mr. Ramirez began, his voice firm. “I know there’s been a lot of conflict lately, and it’s affecting not just your work but the spirit of Class 3B. I want to hear something from each of you.” Marco was the first to speak. “I just think that the athletes should have a say in the mural. We’re a big part of the school spirit!” Sofia said, “and it’s our chance to showcase our talent!” Mr. Ramirez listened attentively, nodding as each student voiced their concerns. After everyone had spoken, he leaned forward, a thoughtful expression on his face. “What if we approached this project differently? Instead of seeing it as a competition, let’s view it as a cooperation. Each of you has unique strengths that can contribute to the mural.” With Mr. Ramirez’s guidance, the students began to work together. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mr. Ramirez addressed the crowd, praising the students for their hard work and harmony. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 辽宁省名校联盟2025年高考模拟卷(信息卷) 英语(一) 本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟。 How much is the shirt? B 5. A 6. A 7. 根据第一段的“When the news broke, feelings of anger shook my mind and I kept myself alone so no one would see me cry (at least for an hour). (当消息传出时,愤怒的感觉震撼了我的头脑,我让自己一个人呆着,这样就没有人看到我哭了(至少有一个小时)。)”及“Soon, I recovered, but it had been a week of disappointment.(很快,我恢复了,但那是令人失望的一周。)”可知,作者最开始的反应是生气后来是失望,结合第二段的“However, after calming myself down, what I’ve discovered is the value of hard work in preparing for these tasks, not because it increases your chances of success, but rather because it leaves you feeling satisfied regardless of the outcome.(然而,在让自己冷静下来之后,我发现在准备这些任务时努力工作的价值,不是因为它增加了你成功的机会,而是因为它让你无论结果如何都感到满足。)”及第四段“Needless to say, when the day of the audition came, it went a lot better than the first time.(不用说,当试镜那天来的时候,它比第一次要好得多。)” 根据第二段的“However, after calming myself down, what I’ve discovered is the value of hard work in preparing for these tasks, not because it increases your chances of success, but rather because it leaves you feeling satisfied regardless of the outcome.(然而,在让自己冷静下来之后,我发现在准备这些任务时努力工作的价值,不是因为它增加了你成功的机会,而是因为它让你无论结果如何都感到满足。)” 故选A项。 根据最后一段“But, even if you’re feeling useless, angry, or disappointed, remember that regardless of the outcome, your effort has value and that in the end, you won’t regret it.(但是,即使你感到无用,生气或失望,记住不管结果如何,你的努力是有价值的,最后,你不会后悔的。)” 故选A项。 通读全文,特别是最后一段的“But, even if you’re feeling useless, angry, or disappointed, remember that regardless of the outcome, your effort has value and that in the end, you won’t regret it.(但是,即使你感到无用,生气或失望,记住不管结果如何,你的努力是有价值的,最后,你不会后悔的。)” C Although humans domesticated cats nearly 12,000 years ago, your dear friend is still somewhat of a mystery. A 9. D 10. C 11. 故选A项。 根据第二“Cats actually aren’t nocturnal (夜间活动的); they are creatures that hunt at dusk and dawn, the time of day when many other animals to be hunted become more active.(猫实际上不是夜行动物;它们是在黄昏和黎明捕猎的动物,这是一天中许多其他被捕猎动物变得更加活跃的时候)”可知,猫实际上不是夜行动物,它们在黄昏和黎明捕猎,可得出猫更倾向于在黎明而非深夜捕猎。故选D项。 【10题详解】 细节理解题,根据文章第二段“Cats’ large pupils, which are about 50% larger than humans’, allow more light into their eyes.(猫的瞳孔比人类大50%,因此能让更多的光线进入它们的眼睛)”以及第三段“Their pupils will become narrower in the bright sunlight and then become wider in the dark.(它们的瞳孔在明亮的阳光下会变窄,在黑暗中会变宽)”可知,猫的瞳孔更大且能灵活调节,使其在黑暗中视力更佳。 根据第五段“But you still have one visual advantage over your friend: Humans have better clearness of vision than cats, reports Business Insider. You can see more clearly than your little friend, but cats win when it comes to night vision. With your combined visual abilities, you and your cat make the perfect team.(但是你仍然比你的朋友有一个视觉优势:据商业内幕网报道,人类的视力比猫更清晰。你比你的小朋友看得更清楚,但猫在夜视方面更胜一筹。以你的综合视觉能力,你和你的猫是完美的组合)”可知,本段主要讲与猫相比人类的一个视觉优势,因此第五段通过做比较的方式展开。故选B项。 D If you’re a frequent flyer, you may have noticed that the wings of an aircraft have an additional component at the ends. C Let one experience fear. A 13. C 14. A 15. 根据第二段中““A winglet is an additional structural component of a wing structure with the primary function of reducing wingtip vortex (涡流)”.(小翼是机翼结构的附加结构部件,其主要功能是减少翼尖涡。)”以及划线单词句中“but let’s work through this definition in small steps. To understand the winglet, let’s first understand why an aircraft needs it.(但是让我们一步一步来完成这个定义。要了解小翼,让我们首先了解为什么飞机需要它。)”可知,上文的定义让人非常困惑,但是需要我们一步一步来理解这个定义。要了解小翼,让我们首先了解为什么飞机需要它。所以“make your knees weak”意思是让人感到困惑、难以理解。A 选项“Get one to be confused.”(让某人感到困惑)符合语境。故选A项。 根据第四段中“One was to manufacture an infinitely (无限地) long wing. There would be total separation of the airflow from the lower and upper surface, therefore preventing any vortexes from being formed. Obviously, there were some major issues with this.(一个是制造无限长的机翼。气流将从上下表面完全分离,从而防止任何漩涡的形成。显然,这其中存在一些重大问题。)”可推知,第一种解决方案是制造一个无限长的机翼,但是这显然存在一些重大问题,因为在现实中制造无限长的机翼是不现实的。故选C项。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中““A winglet is an additional structural component of a wing structure with the primary function of reducing wingtip vortex (涡流)”.(小翼是机翼结构的附加结构部件,其主要功能是减少翼尖涡。)”以及第四段中“To avoid the formation of the vortexes, two solutions were explored as being possible.(为了避免涡流的形成,探索了两种可能的解决方案。)”“The other solution was to create a separation between the two differential pressure regions by introducing a structural component, which was called a “winglet”.(另一个解决方案是通过引入一个被称为“小翼”的结构部件,在两个压差区域之间建立一个分离。)” 故选A项。 When grade 8 came, we were excited as it was our final year before high school. However, it was also around this time when the pressure of deciding on our “ultimate destination” — that what we chose to study in high school would inform what we did for the rest of our lives. Then, everyone around me began to change. ___16___ They struggled to get high marks. They joined many clubs and other extra-curricular activities. ___17___ After considering my strengths and weaknesses in my school subjects and the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) path, I decided that I wanted to get in to a math, science, and technology program. I became fierce and focused on that one goal. I filled out applications and took entrance exams for my home school’s program and my current school’s program. I didn’t get into my first choice and cried. I thought of myself as weak at that time, but then, I got into my current high school’s program, which returned my confidence. ___18___ Fast forward to today. I’m now in my last year of high school, deciding which university to attend. Did I arrive at my “ultimate destination?” No. ___19___ At points in our lives, we will change our paths and they will lead us to destinations. My path went from STEM to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), and my destination right now is to be a writer. Also, looking back, I find that in life, it isn’t about who is smart or not, or what makes you smart. ___20___ My advice to eighth graders? Be open to opportunities and change and don’t fall to pressure; life doesn’t end at grade 8. A. I, too, did the same. B. Did I like the program or did I regret it? C. In fact, I’ve realized that there is no such thing. D. Finally, I graduated and moved onto high school. E. At the same time, our teachers and our parents began to pressure us. F. People who were interested or pressured by parents became competitive. G. It’s about whether you will find something that makes you satisfied and happy. 16. F 17. A 18. D 19. C 20. However 43. rules 44. have helped 45. environmentally 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 “have difficulty (in) doing sth.” “be estimated to do sth.” 故填to cause。 “reduce...to...” 故填to。 故填which。 故填However。 根据时间状语“So far”可知,句子应用现在完成时,其结构为“have/has +过去分词”,主语 these measures 是复数,助动词用 have, help 的过去分词是helped。故填have helped。 Dear International Exchange Students. Ramirez addressed the crowd praising the students for their hard work and harmony. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】With Mr. Ramirez’s guidance, the students began to work together. They discussed their goals for the mural, and they divided up the tasks. Some students painted the main image, and others filled in smaller details. Sofia and Marco took charge, but they always asked their classmates for feedback and suggestions. When the time came to reveal the mural, the whole class gathered. The mural showed joyful images of the local landscape: tall palm trees, a rushing river, and brightly coloured flowers. It also described the students’ dreams: to live in peace, to grow stronger, and to appreciate the beauty of the natural world. Mr. Ramirez addressed the crowd. “This mural is a celebration of our community,” he said, “and it could not have been done without your talent and collaboration.” Mr. Ramirez thanked the students for their hard work, and he encouraged them to continue to respect and appreciate each other. The students clapped and laughed as they gathered around to admire the mural. They were proud of what they had accomplished. They realized that by respecting and appreciating each other, they could accomplish great things and make a better community. 词汇激活 行为类 ①讨论:discuss / talk about / exchange views ②描绘:describe / depict / portray ③贡献:make a contribution to / contribute to / devote to 情绪类 ①感谢:thank / appreciate / express gratitude ②美好的:wonderful / great 【点睛】[高分句型1].
