Unit3 Could you please clean your room? 一．情态动词could 1. 含义：可用于有礼貌地向对方提出请求或请求对方的许可，用于疑问句中，可代替can，在时间上和can没有区别，但语气要比can更委婉、有礼貌。 2.用法： （1）表示委婉地请求别人做某事： 句型：Could you (please)do sth.? 肯定答语：Yes, sure/ Yes, I can./Of course./ No problem./With pleasure. 否定答语：Sorry, I can't. I have to... I'm afraid I can't. I have to... -Could you please help me do the dishes? —Sorry, I can't. I cut my finger and I'm trying not to get it wet. （2）表示委婉地请求别人允许自己做某事： 句型：Could I do sth.? 肯定回答：Yes，you can./Yes，please. 否定回答：Sorry, you can't.+理由/I'm afraid you can't.+理由 -Could I get something to drink after the movie? -Yes, you can. 【注意】回答中都应用can，而不是could （3）“Could you please do sth.？”的否定形式为: Could you please not do sth.？表示委婉地批评对方，“请不要做某事好吗” Could you please not park your car here? 【拓展】could其它用法： 1.表示“能力”时，是can的过去式。 Jenny could speak English at the age of six. 2.表示惊讶、怀疑、不相信等态度，主要用于否定句和疑问句。 （此时could与can无时间上的区别，但语气比can要弱） He couldn't/can't be over fifty. 3.表示可能性。 This red dress could be Mary's. She likes red. 4.表示虚拟语气。 How I wish I could go with you! 二．can/could 的区别 can 与 could 都是情态动词，could是can的过去式。can的否定式为can't或 cannot, could的否定形式为couldn't和could not。二者都可用于表示请求，但 是用法稍有不同。 1.can表示一般性的请求，语气随便，常用于熟人之间或长辈对 晚辈，上级对下级的场合。 例如：Can you tell us your story，Tony？Tony,你能给我们讲讲你的故事吗？ 2.could 表示有礼貌的请求，语气委婉，常用于非熟人之间或晚辈对长辈，下级对上 级的场合. 例如：Could you tell us if it snows in winter in?
