What causes the action in sentence (a)? The dress or the wind? 2. What is happening to “me” in sentence (b)? The wind causes the action. People around “me” are pushing “me”. What is the difference between the two groups of sentences? 4. Why does the author choose to use the passive form instead of the active form in the reading passage? The two sentences of the first group use the passive form, while the two of the second group use the active form. In the first sentence of the first group, the author is describing the sculpture, so the dress instead of the wind should be the author’s focus and it serves as the subject. In the second sentence of the first group, “I” don’t know the people around “me”, so there is no need to mention who are pushing “me”. As a result, the passive form is used here. 【现在进行时的被动语态】 一、含义：现在进行时的被动语态表示现在或现阶段正在进行或发生的被动动作，强调主语是动作的承受者。 二、结构 1. 肯定句: 主语＋am/is/are＋being done e.g. Some trees are being cut down in the park. 2. 否定句: 主语＋am/is/are＋not being done e.g. It is reported that the water in the lake is not being protected now. 3. 一般疑问句: Am/Is/Are(not)＋主语＋being done e.g. Are the babies being taken care of by this nurse? 4. 特殊疑问式: 特殊疑问词＋am/is/are(not)＋主语＋being done e.g. Who is being trained for the coming English speech contest? 三、用法 1. 表示此刻正被进行的动作。句中常用now, at the moment等时间状语。 e.g. The question is being discussed at the meeting now. 2. 表示现阶段正在进行的被动动作(说话时不一定在进行)。 e.g. These animals are being hunted at such a speed that they will disappear soon. 3. 表示一种经常性的被动行为，常和always, constantly, frequently等表示频率的副词连用，这种用法常常带有说话者的赞扬或厌恶的感情色彩。 e.g. I feel very surprised that the window of our classroom is often being broken. e.g. Tom is always being praised by the teacher. 4. 与某些情态动词连用，表示对正在发生的动作的推测。 e.g. Jim may be being interviewed by the reporters at the very moment. 5. 表示按计划或安排主语将要承受谓语动词所表示的动作。 e.g. Next week, our school is being inspected by many specialists. 四、使用现在进行时的被动语态应注意的问题 1. 注意不可遗漏being，如果being漏掉，则就成为一般现在时的被动语态或系表结构。 2. take care of, look after, talk about, think of 等动词短语用于现在进行时的被动语态时， 其中的介词不可省略。 e.g. The children are being taken good care of by their grandmother. 3. 非延续性动词、表示存在意义、所属关系、静态特征的动词以及系动词不用于现在进行时的被动语态。 e.g. It is known to us that Taiwan belongs to China. 4. “be(am/is/are)+under/in+n”有时可相当于现在进行时的被动语态。 e.g. The bridge is under construction. =The bridge is being constructed. 5. 一些表示状态、心理活动、 拥有、存在等的动词，一般不用现在进行时的被动语态，而用一般现在时的被动语态表示此时此刻或现阶段进行的被动动作。 e.g. Martial art is loved by more and more people, especially some foreigners. e.g. The large house is owned by the young man.
