Bangkok might be noisy and polluted but it’s also an exciting city with plenty of things to see and do. Why not make it a longer stay? Where to stay The Khao San Road was a famous traveller spot even before Leonardo di Caprio’s character in the film The Beach stayed there. But it’s noisy, not very pretty and not very Thai. For something more authentic, Phra Kanong offers an alterative place to stay, with its fantastic street markets where everyday Bangkok people eat, work and live. It’s not as convenient for the main tourist sites, but it has a Skytrain station so you can be at the Grand Palace in 20 minutes. How to get around Bangkok’s traffic can be a nightmare. Sure, you can easily take a taxi-if you want to spend hours stuck in traffic jams-but there are two much better ways to get around the city. To explore the temples and historical sites, catch an express boat river taxi or a longtail boat along the Chao Phraya river and the canals. For the modern part of the city, the Skytrain is a fast, cheap way to travel from the river to the shopping malls and nightlife of Sukhumvit. Where to eat The simple answer is: everywhere! Thai street food is among the best in the world, and for around $5 you can eat a filling and delicious meal. Some food stands have little plastic seats where you can sit and eat and they cook the same dish over and over, like fried chicken on rice or Pad Thai noodles. What to do After you’ve seen the main sites like the Giant Buddha at the temple of Wat Pho and the spectacular Grand Palace, and shopped at Chatuchak market, check out the snake farm and watch the live snake show. You can even touch a snake yourself if you want to! 1 What can we learn from the second paragraph? A. Many famous films were shot on the Khao San Road. B. There are fantastic street markets on the Khao San Road. C. Tourists can experience local people’s life in Phra Kanong. D. It’s convenient to get to the main tourist sites from Phra Kanong. 2. If you want to explore the modern part of Bangkok, which transport is the best choice? A. The taxi. B. The skytrain. C. The longtail boat. D. The express boat river taxi. 3. Where is the passage most probably taken from? A. A textbook. B. A book review. C. A research report. D. A travel guide B I grew up in a poor household and fought my way from bars in South Africa into offices here in Canada. My parents were teachers with modest salaries, but we could hardly make ends meet because of my dad’s addiction to alcohol. My mom tried her best to love us and keep us fed. At about 4 years old, I saw a smiling piggy bank at a flea market, which was sitting on a table among all kinds of second-band goods. Child as I was, somehow I had the thought that it was going to make things better and that’s why I had to have it. Then for two years, I saved everything from my birthday money from my granny to leftover coins at the bar. However, we smashed the piggy bank in the middle of a winter when our electricity had just been cut off again and the cupboard didn’t have any food left. My mom didn’t tell me to do it, but I volunteered. Even at roughly 6 years old, I had a strong sense of duty toward my family. It had enough money to put gas in the car and buy groceries, plus some candles for light. It changed my life because it changed my attitude towards life. I suddenly believed my situation was temporary and that I was able to face any challenge and make my life better. As an adult, I had a long-term dream of leaving South Africa. So in spring 2020, I packed up everything I could and moved to Canada. I worked my way up to be a senior salesman here, applying the skills of frugality(节俭)and persistence that my piggy taught me. I am proud to say that I am fighting for what I love and looking forward to whatever is next. 4. What is true about the author’s family? A. They led a well-off and carefree life. B. The author’s parents often quarreled. C. They got by on a small amount of money. D. The author’s dad was responsible and reliable. 5. What does the underlined word “smashed” most probably mean in paragraph 3? A. sold B. broke C. bought D. hid 6. What kind of person is the author? A. Optimistic and modest B. Critical and pessimistic C. Considerate and innovative D. Independent and responsible 7. What would be the best title for the text? A. Saving the Day B. Embracing the Future C. Friendship with My Piggy Bank D. My Ambition of Being Successful C Do you have frightening dreams while sleeping? According to an email interview by clinical psychologist and sleep expert Dr. Michael Breus, roughly 5 percent of the general population has at least one bad dream per week. Nightmares typically happen during REM sleep, during the middle and later parts of the night. There is no exact explanation for nightmares, but Breus says it’s possible that they help the brain practise, prepare for and even anticipate difficult or dangerous experiences in waking life. Of course, it’s possible that nightmares, like dreams in general, don’t have a primary function — that they’re a by-product of other activities in the body. But most sleep scientists think that dreams and nightmares exist for some purposes. One study found the most common nightmare was falling, followed by dreams of being chased, feeling lost, and feeling trapped. Then why do nightmares happen? “Certain circumstances and characteristics make some people more likely to have nightmares than others” says sleep medicine specialist Dr. Barry Krakow. He thinks people who’ve been traumatized (使受精神创伤) are certainly at a higher risk of nightmares. Examples are offered of those who have suffered criminal attacks, or who have been in life-threatening accidents. People with some degree of sensitivity in their biological make-up are also more likely to have bad dreams, so they’re more common in people who suffer from anxiety or depression, or who use excess drugs or alcohol. The traditional belief often has it that nightmares are the result of eating too much rich food before bedtime, but it is still uncertain whether this is true. One study from 2015 did find a link between eating dairy or hot foods before bedtime and having disturbing dreams, but the study authors noted that this couldn’t be proven definitely because the data was self-reported and there were a lot of other factors to consider. However, research in recent decades has shown that people who suffer from sleep disorders are also more likely to have nightmares. 8. What may Dr. Breus agree with about nightmares? A. They come true once in a while. B. They happen at any time during sleep. C. They possibly help predict future events. D. They arise for some really specific purposes. 9. Who does Dr. Krakow think tends to suffer nightmares? A. Paul who often stays up late. B. Jack who has had horrible experiences. C. Peter who is sensitive to alcohol. D. John who sleeps in a noisy environment. 10. What can we learn from paragraph 5? A. Eating rich food before bedtime will cause nightmares. B. The data used in the 2015 study was reliable and accurate. C. The traditional belief about nightmares has been disproved. D. The link between dairy or hot food and nightmares is still uncertain. 11. From which section of a website is the text probably taken? A. Mental health. B. Popular culture. C. Eating habits. D. Life experiences. D Mutant(突变的) strains of a common flu virus which occurs only in humans before have been found in dogs for the first time, prompting concerns that such virus could start to spread easily among pets—and potentially evolve into dangerous new strains that transmit among its primary hosts. Nanjing Agricultural University virologist Shuo Su and his colleagues identified two dogs in southern China with different mutant strains of the influenza C virus, which infects almost all humans—mostly as children—and usually causes mild illness. The researchers genetically sequenced these strains and found that mutations affected their structure near the part that attaches to a host’s cells. These changes mean “it might be on the way to reproduce better in dogs” says a biochemist Michael Veit. People sometimes pass flu viruses to a pet dog, where the infection typically stops. But the newly found strains’ particular mutations suggest that the result differs from what it seems to be, he adds. Although most adults have already been exposed to influenza C, the researchers say we might have little immunity against a new strain that jumps back to humans after mutating in animals. For a letter published in the Journal of Infection, the scientists state it shows that viruses should be tracked more thoroughly in dogs and other pets through regular testing and sequencing. Cornell University animal virologist Colin Parrish, says he would “certainly advocate” for that. “We have sort of ignored dogs and cats as potential hosts,” he says, “but my research group routinely surveys dogs for new respiratory(呼吸的)viruses”. It is too early to say whether dog-borne influenza C will become a problem. More studies are needed to confirm the virus is spreading among these animals and, if so, how easily. But the researchers say it and other viruses should be monitored carefully to stop any disease strains from emerging. A good place to start would be Kennels and similar places where viruses can easily spread and evolve. “If you are farming animals at high density,” says University of Nottingham virologist Janet Daly, “that’s where you need to look.” 12. What worries people in recent days? A. The virus spreads among pets. B. The virus jumps back to humans. C. The virus results in serious disease. D. The virus transmits from humans to pets. 13. What is the finding of the research in the second paragraph? A. Host’s cells will be affected by the virus. B. Dogs prevent the virus from reproducing itself. C. They are more likely to transmit from dogs to dogs. D. The flu virus disappears after people pass it to pets. 14. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Viruses tend to spread and evolve among dense groupings of animals. B. The virus won’t emerge as long as it is often monitored by researchers. C. The influenza C is a big problem to both animals and human beings. D. It is easy to stop viruses from spreading among animals in a good place. 15. What’s the main idea of the text? A. Mutant strains of a virus are identified in dogs. B. Mutant strains of a virus are detected in an experiment. C. Mutant strains of a virus are more common at high density. D. Mutant strains of a virus reproducing in dogs may threaten humans. The Sunday scaries refer to an over-whelming feeling of fear and anxiety about going to work or school the next day. ____16____ But even though the Sunday scaries are common, they are manageable. Here’s how experts say you can ease your end-of-weekend anxiety. Structure your Sunday. Structure can be a best friend when feeling the Sunday scaries. Instead of sitting on the couch and watching the clock, go to do something that you enjoy. You might still get a sense of fear. ____17____ Thus, you should anticipate the weekend as a time to relax, connect with friends and family, and address items from a to-do list that get neglected during the workweek. Don’t forget to relax. When structuring your Sunday, try not to stuff in large quantities of business and chores. ____18____ Whatever feels like a helpful distraction to revive yourself can be adopted, maybe a body meditation, maybe a midafternoon bath, maybe an engaging show. ____19____ Anxiety is a normal human experience, and one of the main ways to manage it is to find out your personal triggers. So you need to pinpoint what’s really causing you to fear the week—Is it a deadline? meeting? Or presentation? Also, it is necessary to create multiple to-do lists, which can help put into perspective what’s important and what you can let go of for now. By doing all of these, you can decrease the anticipation of the stress and fear of the upcoming week. Create some excitement for the week ahead Getting rid of the Sunday scaries isn’t just about minimizing the doom and gloom of the week ahead, either. Having something to look forward to gives you something to think about what’s pleasing, rather than just noticing the fear you feel. It’s a form of reframing your thoughts: Instead of focusing on the awful things you expect from the week, build excitement over a coffee or lunch date with a friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. ____20____ . A. Reduce your sense of anxiety. B. Identify your anxiety sources. C. It is vital to make space for activities to relieve yourself. D. It is being experienced physically and mentally by most people. E. This can help decrease the feeling of stress and fear of the week F. This gives you the opportunity to shift your mindset and will improve your mood. G. But that feeling is harder to hold on to when you are really engaged in something that make you feel good. Jennifer asked me. The only survivor of the shipwreck was brought by the currents to the shore of a small, uninhabited island. His desperate cries for help mixed with the roar of the storm, only to be swallowed by the ocean. Exhausted and disoriented, he lay on the sandy beach, thanking whatever forces had saved his life. After he surveyed the surroundings, he realized the harsh reality of his isolation. He prayed to God and scanned the horizon for any sign of rescue, but no help appeared. In the midst of despair, he gradually awakened to the fact that he had to survive on this uninhabited island on his own. Driven by great determination, the survivor managed to build a shelter with the driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. The survivor, once stuck in his isolation, started exploring the island’s hidden treasures. His routine became a dull cycle of hunting for food, collecting rainwater, and scanning the horizon for any sign of rescue. But the vast expanse of the ocean offered no comfort, no ship on the horizon to save him. Despite his loneliness, the survivor clung to hope. The sunrises brought a glimmer of optimism, and he kept scanning the horizon, searching for any trace of rescue. Then, one fateful day, as he returned from a fruitless search for food, he was greeted by a devastating sight — his shelter was on fire, and the smoke was rolling up to the sky! The worst had happened — the fire had consumed all his possessions, leaving him nothing but the clothes on his back. Desperation and disbelief seized him as he watched the smoke rise to the sky, a cruel demonstration of his misfortune. “God, how could you do this to me!” he cried. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The rescuers explained that they had seen the smoke signal from the burning shelter. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 重庆市朝阳中学高2026届3月月考 英 语 试 题 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. My Ambition of Being Successful 【答案】4. C 5. B 6. D 7. 根据文章第一段“My parents were teachers with modest salaries, but we could hardly make ends meet because of my dad’s addiction to alcohol.(我的父母是教师,薪水不高,但由于父亲嗜酒成瘾,我们几乎无法维持生计。)” 根据划线单词下文“Even at roughly 6 years old, I had a strong sense of duty toward my family. It had enough money to put gas in the car and buy groceries, plus some candles for light.(甚至在大约6岁的时候,我就对我的家庭有强烈的责任感。它有足够的钱给汽车加油,买杂货,再加上一些照明的蜡烛。)”可知,储蓄罐里的钱使家里的生活暂时维持了下去,所以划线单词的意思和“打碎、取出”有关。选项A“sold (卖)”;选项B“broke (打破)”;选项C“bought (买)”;选项D“hid (藏)”。故选B。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第三段“Even at roughly 6 years old, I had a strong sense of duty toward my family. (甚至在大约6岁的时候,我就对我的家庭有强烈的责任感。)”可知,作者是个有责任感的人;再根据最后一段“As an adult, I had a long-term dream of leaving South Africa. So in spring 2020, I packed up everything I could and moved to Canada. I worked my way up to be a senior salesman here, applying the skills of frugality(节俭)and persistence that my piggy taught me. C。 C Do you have frightening dreams while sleeping? “Certain circumstances and characteristics make some people more likely to have nightmares than others,” says sleep medicine specialist Dr. C 9. B 10. D 11. 根据第二段中“There is no exact explanation for nightmares, but Breus says it’s possible that they help the brain practise, prepare for and even anticipate difficult or dangerous experiences in waking life.(关于噩梦,目前还没有确切的解释,但布鲁斯说,噩梦可能有助于大脑练习、准备,甚至预测醒着时生活中的困难或危险经历)”可知,布鲁斯博士认同“噩梦可能有助于预测未来的事件”这一说法。 根据第四段中““Certain circumstances and characteristics make some people more likely to have nightmares than others,” says sleep medicine specialist Dr. Barry Krakow. He thinks people who’ve been traumatized (使受精神创伤) are certainly at a higher risk of nightmares.(睡眠医学专家巴里·克拉科夫博士说:“某些环境和特征使一些人比其他人更容易做噩梦。”他认为受过创伤的人做噩梦的风险肯定更高)”可知,Krakow博士认为受过创伤的人做噩梦的风险更高,由此推知,他会认为有过可怕经历的杰克更容易做噩梦。故选B项。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“One study from 2015 did find a link between eating dairy or hot foods before bedtime and having disturbing dreams, but the study authors noted that this couldn’t be proven definitely because the data was self-reported and there were a lot of other factors to consider.(2015年的一项研究确实发现了睡前吃乳制品或热食物与做噩梦之间的联系,但研究作者指出,这并不能得到确定的证明,因为数据是自我报告的,还有很多其他因素需要考虑)”可知,乳制品或热食物与噩梦之间的联系仍不确定。 通读全文,结合第一段“Do you have frightening dreams while sleeping? Nightmares typically happen during REM sleep, during the middle and later parts of the night.(你睡觉时会做可怕的梦吗?根据临床心理学家和睡眠专家Michael Breus博士的电子邮件采访,大约5%的人每周至少做一次噩梦。噩梦通常发生在快速眼动睡眠期间,在夜间的中段和后期)”和下文可知,本文主要介绍了科学家对于做噩梦原因的分析以及一些导致做噩梦的因素,与心理健康相关。由可推知,文章可能出自网站中“心理健康”部分。故选A项。 D Mutant(突变的) strains of a common flu virus which occurs only in humans before have been found in dogs for the first time, prompting concerns that such virus could start to spread easily among pets—and potentially evolve into dangerous new strains that transmit among its primary hosts. These changes mean “it might be on the way to reproduce better in dogs,” says a biochemist Michael Veit. C The influenza C is a big problem to both animals and human beings. 12. A 13. C 14. A 15. ____19____ Anxiety is a normal human experience and one of the main ways to manage it is to find out your personal triggers. Create some excitement for the week ahead. Getting rid of the Sunday scaries isn’t just about minimizing the doom and gloom of the week ahead, either. 16. D 17. G 18. C 19. B 20. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 “God, how could you do this to me!” he cried. The cry of misery and desperation echoed through the air as he fell to his knees, tears mingling with the salty sea wind. His prayers were seemingly unanswered, and now, even the shelter he had painstakingly constructed lay in ruins. The fire not only consumed the tangible evidence of his perseverance, but also the fragile hope that had kept him going... In the depths of despair, the survivor slept restlessly. But as the first rays of dawn painted the sky, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. Disbelief mingled with hope in his weary eyes when rescuers stood before him. Bewildered, he asked: “How did you know I was here?” The rescuers explained that they had seen the smoke signal from the burning shelter. It dawned on the survivor that what seemed like a tragedy, the loss of his meager possessions and shelter, had unintentionally become a beacon that guided the rescue. As he boarded the ship, leaving the island behind, the survivor looked back one last time. The island, now fading into the horizon, as well as the burnt remains of the shelter stood as the witness of his perseverance. The ship carried the survivor towards a new chapter and the survivor carried with him a firm belief that sometimes hope could emerge from the ashes, so it’s crucial not to lose heart even if in the darkest moments. 词汇激活 行为类 ①建造:construct/build ②跪下:fall to knee/ kneel ③唤醒:awaken/wake up 情绪类 ①费力地:painstakingly/ laboriously ②绝望:despair/ desperation 【点睛】[高分句型1] Disbelief mingled with hope in his weary eyes when rescuers stood before him.(运用了when引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] It dawned on the survivor that what seemed like a tragedy, the loss of his meager possessions and shelter, had unintentionally become a beacon that guided the rescue.
