Passage 2
A dog can be a person’s best friend. Dogs usually bark (吠叫) at someone or something if they feel like there is a danger to them. But can you imagine a dog can also bark at an empty corner of a room, at a door, or anywhere? Is the dog hallucinating Is it communicating with something unknown? Or does it simply want to drive its owner crazy?
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), the most common explanation for dog’s barking is that there must be some reasons that we still don’t realize. It is known that dogs have better sense of seeing, hearing and smelling than humans. Maybe we humans are simply unable to sense what a dog is sensing.
Dogs are, obviously, equipped with super hearing, including the ability to hear sounds that are higher in pitch (音高). A dog could even hear a noise that a person nearby wouldn’t be able to hear, such as a faraway vehicle siren
Dogs are also able to see better in the dark than humans thanks to their ability to get more light into their retinas (视网膜). If a dog is barking at what looks to you like an empty backyard at night, it’s possible that something has caught their attention, be it a wild animal or a leaf.
That’s not to say that dogs only bark when they sense something. Some dogs might bark just because they feel bored, which tells us that more exercise or playtime is probably needed. They might also be trying to get their owner’s attention.
The AKC recommends that owners avoid scolding their dogs for barking, since they’re simply trying to remain vigilant (警觉的). Instead, you can try to comfort the dog to let them know you’re aware of their concern. If they keep barking while looking out of a window, you can also try to draw the curtains. If you think they hear something, some white noise, like a television or radio, can help.
There is another problem which can take place but less often. If barking is kept, while your dog found nothing in your bushes, then you might consider a trip to the vet (兽医).
41.From the first paragraph, we can infer that dogs bark usually because ________.
A.they enjoy barking B.they may hallucinate
C.they think there is something dangerous D.they try to communicate with their owners
42.According to Paragraphs 2 — 3, we know that ________.

A.Dogs can see better in the dark because they can have more light.

C.Dogs may bark even they sense nothing.

44.The AKC suggests, if dogs bark, we should ________.
A.shout out at them to stop

Passage 3
The development of science and technology makes a difference to people’s life. The creation of special robots has helped farmers a lot.
The population on the earth grows larger each year. As a result, more and more food needs to be grown in order to feed everyone. Because climate changes all the time, it’s becoming even more difficult to grow more food. When farmers tried to grow more food in the past, some farming methods were used. However, those farming methods weren’t always healthy for the environment. In fact, they were harmful to the environment sometimes.
Could this problem be solved? Some scientists spent several years talking to farmers. They wanted to see what problems farmers were having and how these problems could be solved. This led to the creation of special robots. These special robots move around on farms and collect information about crops. They can take pictures of plants and track (追踪) each plant’s growth.
By collecting information about plants, the robots can help farmers predict the growth of the plants. That means farmers can know how their plants will grow. By studying each plant, the robots can also help farmers look after plants better. For example, if the robots find out which plants get sick, farmers can quickly throw them away before they are about to influence other plants beside them. With the help of these robots, farmers can take better care of the plants in need.

A.dogs can hear what humans can’t hear
B.humans can have the same ability to sense something as a dog
C.higher sounds in pitch can be heard by humans
D.a dog is unable to hear a faraway vehicle siren

A.Dogs can see better in the dark because they can have more light.

44.The AKC suggests, if dogs bark, we should ________.
A.shout out at them to stop
B.try to make them calm down
C.turn on the TV and watch some interesting programs with them
D.have nothing to do

根据倒数第二段中“The AKC recommends that owners avoid scolding their dogs for barking, since they’re simply trying to remain vigilant (警觉的). Instead, you can try to comfort the dog to let them know you’re aware of their concern. (AKC建议主人不要因为狗叫而责骂它们,因为它们只是想保持警惕。相反,你可以试着安慰狗狗,让它们知道你意识到了它们的担忧。)”可知,AKC建议,如果狗叫,我们应该试着安慰狗狗让它们冷静下来。故选B。

66.see → saw 67.how → what 68.nervous → nervously 69.for后加a 70.is → was 71.moments → moment 72.去掉for 73.but → and 74.hers → her 75.loudly → loud
句意:汤姆,你午饭后通常做什么?“how do you usually do”这个表达不正确,询问做什么应该用“what do you usually do”,how表示方式,what表示内容,此处是询问内容。故将how改为what。
“for a while”是固定短语,表示“一会儿”,此处缺少不定冠词 a 。故在for后加a。
故将is改为was。
“show”是及物动词,“show sth.” 故去掉for。
“woke up”和“did not hear the question”是并列关系,不是转折关系,应用and连接,but表示转折,不符合语境。故将but改为and。
