On January 28, 2025, a special performance called YangBOT amazed audiences at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Directed by famous filmmaker Zhang Yimou, the show mixed traditional Chinese yangko dance with modern robot technology.
In the performance, robots dressed in colorful costumes danced yangko, a joyful folk dance from northern China often seen during festivals. They moved handkerchiefs (手帕) quickly and formed creative group patterns (图案). These robots were developed by Unitree, a Chinese robotics company. This was not Unitree’ s first success—in 2021, their robot cows named “Ben Ben” danced for singer Andy Lau.
The robots learned dance moves through AI and used laser navigation (激光导航) to move safely on the stage. Their strong joints (like knees with 360N·m power) helped them balance perfectly during fast steps. Zhang Yimou explained, “This dance isn’t just fun—it shows how technology can bring new life to traditions.”
Thanks to these innovations, the robots won the hearts of millions. On social media, topics like “RobotYangko” spread quickly. Young viewers called it “cool”, while older audiences loved its humor. The YangBOT program is a perfect mix of China’s tech progress and cultural pride. As one fan said, “It’s like watching the future and past dance together!”

In a village near a desert lived a young and successful businessman named James. But he often felt unhappy because of the endless challenges he faced.
One day, a wise old man came to the village with 100 camels. James went to see him and said, “I always have business worries, family troubles and health problems. Please tell me how to make them disappear.” The old man smiled and said, “I’ll give you an answer tomorrow morning. But first, can you do a small thing for me?” James agreed. The old man asked him to take care of the 100 camels for the night, making sure that they all sat down and rested before he could go to sleep.
The next morning, the old man asked James how his night went. James said sadly, “I didn’t sleep at all. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get all the camels to sit together. Even if I managed to get some camels to sit on one side, a few others would stand on the other side.” “That’s true. As noticed last night, some camels sat down on their own, while others required some effort, and yet many camels did not sit even after lots of effort. If you had come back later, you would have seen that some of the camels, even though they didn’t sit at first, finally sat down on their own,” the old man said.
James nodded. The old man continued, “Problems are just like camels, some problems get solved by themselves, some get solved when you put in some effort, and some do not get solved even after you have tried your best. Leave such problems to time. At the right time, these problems themselves will come to an end.”
James felt a sense of understanding. It completely changed the way he saw life’s challenges.

They took a lot of photos there and then they had a picnic under a big tree. Suddenly it began to rain and they hurried to the car. And when they returned to the hotel, they couldn’t find the bag in which their expensive camera was. They were all sorry for it. They could buy another camera but had no time to go to the Great Wall again. They could not miss the plane!
That evening they didn’t have supper. Mr. Clarke hoped to make them happy so he said, “Well, let me tell you a story. An old man lived in a sixty-floor building. One day he fell down from it when he was cleaning the window. But he didn’t hurt himself.”
“It was a miracle (奇迹)!” called out his children, “Why?”
“Because he lived on the first floor!”
They all began to laugh while two policemen with a bag came in. They said a Chinese boy found it under a big tree and he asked them to find out who lost it.
“It’s really a miracle!” the Clarkes said happily.
