“When I went to the movies, I saw this beautiful background about the scenery, the nature, the rivers, the mountains, and that fascinated me,” Yu said.“That's why I always thought someday I will go to these places and travel.”
At 23, as an exchange student studying medical technologies in the US, Yu decided that she wanted to visit all of the countries in the world, but visa restrictions didn't allow her to travel outside of the country. She decided to explore the US via Greyhound buses. She saved her vacation time from working at Miami, Florida hospitals and was able to take long trips across the US.There are only two states that Yu has yet to visit—Kentucky and Oklahoma.
It took Yu 15 years to get her green card that would allow her to travel internationally and there were times that she worked three jobs to save money to travel. The Miami resident eventually took a part-time job as a travel agent, which gave her many more opportunities to travel to new places around the globe.
In the past 50 years, Yu has been visiting countries across the world, even some that are very tough to get into. She has tried several kinds of meat when she visited Republic of Korea, explored the beaches of Somalia, and even skydived in Dubai when she was 73.
Yu's advice to people who are fond of traveling is to just do it.She said, “Don't wait for anybody. If I keep on waiting, it will never happen, because the opportunity sometimes comes only once.”

There are many places to see lovely giant pandas in China. But where is the best place for you to go for a special panda trip? What is the best time to go? Here are some recommendations.
If you just want to see giant pandas, we recommend you to go to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Base.It is the most easily accessible panda base. You can see pandas at different ages. This base is huge but usually crowded.
If you are looking for a deeper panda experience, you can join a panda volunteer program.Giant panda volunteer programs are available in three panda bases:Dujiangyan, Wolong, and Bifengxia. They take about 1 to 3 days or longer.Dujiangyan is the best place for a one-day program. If you want a less-crowded environment, consider Wolong and Bifengxia, though they require 2 or more days.Your work would include weighing and cleaning bamboo, making panda cakes, watching pandas being fed, and cleaning pandas' enclosures (围场).At the end of the program, you will receive a panda keeper certificate.
Giant pandas don't go into winter sleep. You can visit them in all four seasons.Spring and autumn are the best times to see pandas when they are most active and temperatures are most comfortable. If you visit between August and November, you will probably see lovely panda babies.
Giant pandas spend almost half their time sleeping.Grown-up giant pandas in captivity (圈养) usually eat twice a day:early in the morning and late in the afternoon. They usually sleep around noon, any time from around 10:00 a.m.to around 2:00 p.m.We recommend you to get to a panda base as early as possible, when it is less crowded and the pandas are at their most active.

Fishing trips to Canada are a tradition for Jeffrey Hardy and his three friends from America.Last summer, the forest air polluted with wildfire smoke forced the men to give up their mid-June fishing plan.Canada's wildfire season put its tourism industry at a crucial time.
Except some days of poor air quality, major Canadian cities remain unaffected by wildfires. The fires are in the country's northern areas that have drawn travelers interested in outdoor experiences in years past.
In a recent report by Destination Canada, a marketing organization, half of the total spent by international visitors is in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. But other Canadian destinations attractive to visitors have been affected by the wildfires.
In preparation for increasing visitor sizes and ongoing wildfires, some businesses are thinking about changing their operations, which see outdoor recreation as a tourism opportunity.A non-profit travel agency is considering creating a questionnaire for customers to show when they would cancel a booking because of road closures from the wildfires, poor air quality and a lack of visibility.
Tourism in British Columbia contributes greatly to its economy. The province has various recreational offerings from the major ski destinations to hiking along the coast.Blackcomb, a helicopter tour company, has canceled its sightseeing offerings, using most of its helicopters on the firefighting effort until at least early August.“It's the question of flying our customers around on sightseeing tours or putting out fires within 10 kilometers of our bases and the communities that we live in,” said Jordy Norris, the company's tourism director.“We made it clear to both our staff and our customers that we have a duty to protect the backyard.”
Darrin Rigo, a photographer recently saw a photo of a beautiful waterfall covered in fire on a media page.“I'm sure that's not going to last long, and everything will return to normal.” he said.
