The endless possibilities of places to visit and explore have attracted me. Growing up I was lucky to travel to the places with my family, which helped open my eyes and shape my personality. The trip to Thailand still seems like a fantasy. This country is completely different from ours. Upon arrival in Bangkok, I felt everything was strange. The new environment made me want to go back home. However, we drove through the city of Bangkok to reach our final destination. Along the way, I smelled the street food, watched the strangely lined faces of the street sellers and passers-by and listened to the sound made by tuk-tuks. After experiencing the beauty of Bangkok, the strange feeling turned into excitement. After a few days in Bangkok, we went to Pattaya and I got to know why Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles”. As I walked through the streets, the friendliness of strangers was everywhere. When I was lost, a girl came up to me and helped me work out where I was going. And while we were being evacuated (疏散) after the tsunami, a man helped me push my luggage to safety at the risk of his own life. Time and time again, I was surprised by the friendliness that was shown to me in Thailand by people who had no idea who I was. It’s changed me. Now, I try not to judge (评判) anyone I meet. Instead, I think only about ways in which I can help other people and repay the kindness that has been shown towards me. 4. What can we learn about the author from paragraph 1? A. He enjoys travelling alone. B. He works as a travel guide. C. He has a long-lasting love of travelling. D. He runs a travel business with his family. 5. What happened to the author after spending some time in Bangkok? A. He decided to go home. B. He felt less out of place. C. He fell in love with the local food. D. He became more confident in his own country. 6 How did the girl help the author? A By offering him a place to stay. B. By giving him some money. C. By showing him the way. D. By carrying his luggage. 7. What is the best title for the text? A. A family that lived through the tsunami B. A lesson learned from the tsunami C. A good friend made in Thailand D. A great trip to Thailand 【答案】4. C 5. B 6. C 7. 根据第一段的句子“From a young age, I have been interested in travelling and exploring the sights I never knew. The endless possibilities of places to visit and explore have attracted me. Growing up I was lucky to travel to the places with my family, which helped open my eyes and shape my personality.(从很小的时候起,我就对旅行和探索我从来不知道的景点感兴趣。有无限可能去参观和探索的地方吸引了我。长大后,我很幸运地和家人一起去了很多地方,这帮助我开阔了眼界,塑造了我的个性)”可知,作者从小就对旅行感兴趣,并且这种兴趣一直持续到现在。故选C项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段的句子“After experiencing the beauty of Bangkok, the strange feeling turned into excitement.(在体验了曼谷的美景后,这种奇怪的感觉变成了兴奋)”可知,作者在体验了曼谷的美丽之后,原本的陌生感变成了兴奋。 根据第三段的句子“When I was lost, a girl came up to me and helped me work out where I was going.(当我迷路的时候,一个女孩走到我面前,帮我指出我要去的地方)”可知,当作者迷路时,一个女孩帮助他找到了方向。 根据全文内容,特别是第二段的句子“The trip to Thailand still seems like a fantasy. This country is completely different from ours. Upon arrival in Bangkok, I felt everything was strange.(去泰国旅行仍然像是一个幻想。这个国家和我们的完全不同。刚到曼谷,我就觉得一切都很陌生)”和第三段的句子“After a few days in Bangkok, we went to Pattaya and I got to know why Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles”.(在曼谷呆了几天后,我们去了芭堤雅,我明白了为什么泰国被称为“微笑之国”)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者在泰国旅行的经历,包括在曼谷的感受、在泰国遇到的友好陌生人以及这些经历对他性格的改变。 所以D项“A great trip to Thailand(泰国之行棒极了)”作为本文的题目,与文章主题相符合。故选D项。 C It was early morning in Sera Community Conservancy in Northern Kenya. Birds calling was the only sounds for miles as a team led by Kenyan wildlife veterinarian (兽医) Dr. Mukami Ruoro-Oundo carefully tracked white rhinos (犀牛). Once common in the area, by the early 1990s Northern Kenya’s rhino population was reduced by illegal hunting. In 2015, Sera Conservancy established East Africa’s first community rhino sanctuary (保护区) with the introduction of 10 endangered black rhinos. Today, that number has grown to 21 black rhinos, and in February 2024, they were joined by four white rhinos from the nearby Lewa Conservancy. As she searched on foot, Dr. Ruoro-Oundo discovered two of the female white rhinos. One, called Sarah, looked like she was expecting a baby. But as the vet got closer she noticed something was wrong with Sarah. Worried about getting too close to the rhinos, she turned to technology. Each of the four white rhinos was fitted with a GPS tag in its ears. Through Sarah’s tag, Dr. Ruoro-Oundo realized that Sarah had hardly moved in hours, suggesting her condition was deteriorating . By using a drone (无人机) to take photos of her, the team was able to make sure that Sarah needed help badly. “We noticed she had an infection (感染) near her tail. It was quite serious,” says Dr. Ruoro-Oundo. “She was in a lot of pain because she could not lower her tail or lie down.” Dr. Ruoro-Oundo and her team took action quickly. They gave her medicine and cared for her for days, which helped save not only Sarah’s life but that of her unborn baby too. For Dr. Ruoro-Oundo, the key to safeguarding Kenya’s wildlife is a balance between community and technology. “I think you will not be able to separate technology from wildlife protection in the future,” she says. “Human effort can never be removed, but technology will always come to help where we cannot reach.” 8. What can we learn about Sera Conservancy’s rhinos? A. Their number dropped in 2023. B. They started to disappear in 2015. C. There were 25 rhinos by February 2024. D. There are more white rhinos than black ones. 9. What did Dr. Ruoro-Oundo notice when she discovered Sarah? A. Sarah was not in a healthy condition. B. Sarah was too weak to feed herself. C. Sarah was taking care of a baby rhino. D. Sarah was not getting along with the other rhinos. 10. What does the underlined word “deteriorating” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Becoming worse. B. Getting improved. C. Developing slowly. D. Remaining unchanged. 11. What does Dr. Ruoro-Oundo think of technology’s role in wildlife protection? A. It is far from enough to protect wildlife. B. It should be kept an eye on when used. C. It will take the place of humans. D. It is a good helping hand. C 9. A 10. A 11. 根据文中第二段的句子“Today, that number has grown to 21 black rhinos, and in February 2024, they were joined by four white rhinos from the nearby Lewa Conservancy.(今天,这个数字已经增长到21头黑犀牛,在2024年2月,附近勒瓦保护区的4头白犀牛加入了它们的行列。)” 根据文中第三段的句子“But as the vet got closer she noticed something was wrong with Sarah.(但当兽医走近时,她发现莎拉有点不对劲。)”以及第四段的句子“Through Sarah’s tag, Dr. Ruoro-Oundo realized that Sarah had hardly moved in hours(通过Sarah的标签,Dr. Ruoro-Oundo意识到Sarah已经几个小时没有动过了)”可知,Dr. Ruoro-Oundo发现Sarah的健康状况不佳。故选A项。 根据划线单词前的部分“Through Sarah’s tag, Dr. Ruoro-Oundo realized that Sarah had hardly moved in hours(透过莎拉的标签,若罗-翁多医生意识到莎拉已经几个小时没动过了)”和下文的“Sarah needed help badly(萨拉急需帮助)”可知,Sarah几乎几个小时没有移动且急需帮助,这说明她的状况在恶化。 故选A项。 根据最后一段的句子““I think you will not be able to separate technology from wildlife protection in the future,” she says. “Human effort can never be removed, but technology will always come to help where we cannot reach.”(“我认为,在未来,你将无法将科技与野生动物保护分开,”她说。“人类的努力永远无法消除,但技术总会在我们无法到达的地方提供帮助。”)”可知,Dr. Ruoro-Oundo认为技术是保护野生动物的一个很好的辅助手段。故选D项。 D When older adults fall at home, every second counts-especially when they are alone. Professor Yu Chen and PhD student Han Sun designed the Rapid Response Elderly Safety Monitoring (RESAM) system to cut reaction times by using local computing power to analyze sensor data (分析传感器数据) and discover abnormal movements. In a paper recently published in the IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, they show that the RESAM system can run using a smartphone, smartwatch or pad with99% accuracy (准确性) and a 1.22-second reaction time, positioning it among the most accurate methods available today. Chen said the research is important: “When many people talk about high tech, they are discussing something really advanced. We observed some people — older adults — who need more help but normally fail to tell high-tech developers what they need.” By using devices (设备) already familiar to older people, rather than a full “smart home” setup, Sun thinks it gives them a better sense of control over their health. They don’t need to learn new technology for the system to be effective. “The most dangerous place for falls is the bathroom, but nobody wants to set up a camera there,” Chen said. “So our RESAM reduces the recorded images to skeletons (骨骼), which still allows analysis of key points such as arms and legs to know if someone has fallen.” Another idea, which Chen is exploring with Associate Professor Shiqi Zhang, is for the system to include a robot dog or similar “pet” that would keep a closer watch as someone did their daily tasks. “You could have a conversation with the robot,” Chen said. “For example, when you are heading to the bathroom, the dog may ask you, ‘Would you mind if I follow you?’ Having the dog move closer to check your condition is better than having only fixed sensors in the room.” 12. What is the function of the RESAM system? A. To turn a house into a smart home. B. To teach the old how to use smart devices. C. To quickly discover when the old fall at home. D. To improve the performance of home computers. 13. What is good about the RESAM system according to Sun? A. It is simple to use. B. It saves money for its users. C. It has high safety standards. D. It is designed for smart home products. 14. What did researchers take into consideration when designing the RESAM system? A. Users’ age. B. Privacy protection. C. The cost of sensors. D. Service quality. 15. What can we expect of the RESAM system? A. It could analyze injury information. B. It could monitor the health of pets. C. It would include fixed sensors. D. It would run on a robot pet. C 13. A 14. B 15. 根据第二段“Professor Yu Chen and PhD student Han Sun designed the Rapid Response Elderly Safety Monitoring(RESAM) system to cut reaction times by using local computing power to analyze sensor data(分析传感器数据) and discover abnormal movements. (余晨教授和博士生孙涵设计了快速响应老年人安全监测(RESAM)系统,通过使用本地计算能力分析传感器数据并发现异常运动来缩短反应时间。)”可知,RESAM系统的功能是利用本地计算能力分析传感器数据、发现异常动作,从而快速察觉老年人在家中摔倒的情况,故选C项。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“By using devices (设备) already familiar to older people, rather than a full ‘smart home’ setup, Sun thinks it gives them a better sense of control over their health. They don’t need to learn new technology for the system to be effective. (孙认为,通过使用老年人已经熟悉的设备,而不是完整的“智能家居”设置,这让他们能够更好地控制自己的健康。他们不需要学习新技术即可使系统有效。)”可知,RESAM系统使用老年人熟悉的设备,无需学习新技术就能让系统有效运行,即它使用起来很简单,故选A项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中“ ‘The most dangerous place for falls is the bathroom, but nobody wants to set up a camera there,’ Chen said. ‘So our RESAM reduces the recorded images to skeletons (骨骼), which still allows analysis of key points such as arms and legs to know if someone has fallen.’ (“跌倒最危险的地方是浴室,但没有人愿意在那里安装摄像头,”晨说。“因此,我们的RESAM将记录的图像简化为骨骼,这仍然允许分析手臂和腿部等关键点,以了解是否有人跌倒。”)”可知,考虑到人们不想在浴室设置摄像头的隐私问题,RESAM系统将记录的图像简化为骨骼形式来进行分析,所以在设计RESAM系统时考虑到了隐私保护,故选B项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Another idea, which Chen is exploring with Associate Professor Shiqi Zhang, is for the system to include a robot dog or similar ‘pet’ that would keep a closer watch as someone did their daily tasks. (晨正在与张世琪副教授探讨的另一个想法是,该系统包括一只机器狗或类似的“宠物”,它们可以在人们完成日常任务时密切观察。)”可知,RESAM系统有望运行在机器宠物上,以便在人们日常活动时更密切地监测,故选D项。 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Looking to become more self-educated? His family tried hard to make ends meet, and the idea of making art a career seemed like a distant dream. Yet, Alex refused to be disheartened. With a spirit as bright as his paintings, he set out to turn his love into a reality. Armed with determination and a few brushes, Alex began painting murals (壁画) on the walls of his neighborhood. Each mural was a masterpiece, a reflection of his inner world brought to life on the walls of the city. People were surprised at his talent, and word of his artistry spread like wildfire. Despite the challenges he faced, Alex never gave up. He took many jobs like painting signs in order to save money and buy better paints. His hands never tired as he poured his heart into every stroke (笔画). With each new creation, his skills improved. His paintings showed his journey, each one reflecting his growth as an artist and as a person. One day, a well-known artist discovered Alex’s work and was impressed by the talent on show in his paintings. Impressed, the artist invited Alex to show his art at a famous gallery (画廊) in the city. B From a young age, I have been interested in travelling and exploring the sights I never knew. A. A great trip to Thailand C It was early morning in Sera Community Conservancy in Northern Kenya. D When older adults fall at home, every second counts-especially when they are alone. C It has high safety standards. Looking to become more self-educated? That’s amazing! From a young age, he was fascinated by colors and shapes, spending hours lost in the world of his paintings. However, life wasn’t always easy for Alex. Alex was overjoyed and could hardly believe that he was about to have his own art exhibition (展览). It felt like a dream come true.
