由第三段中“...the researchers ate from a bag of chips. They did this to interest the seaguls.” 由第四段中“When the scientists started eating chips, though, nearly half of the birds got 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 􀥈 31 close to the chip bags.” 4. D 此处用These things来指代a bottle of water and healthy snacks。 5. 9. A 宾语为your textbooks and notes,前面动词应为 read。 10. B 根据of key information可知,此处是固定搭配 remind sb. of sth.,意为“提醒某人某事”。 11. 14. C as if好像; even if即使; so that以便; now that既 然。根据you can make flashcards for the coming tests可 知,后半句是前半句的目的,应由so that引导。 15. 根据“Oters are cute water animals. Recently, there has been a trend towards keeping them as pets.” 根据the fact that the online trade is doing harm to otters可推知,照片和视频掩盖了对水獭造 成伤害这个事实,所以mask意为“掩饰,隐瞒”,与hide意 思相近。 3. 根据“Otters are social animals. They live in family groups in the wild. Keeping an otter as a pet can make it very sad and lonely.” 根据“So, what can we do to stop the otter pet trade? Wel, one of the main ways is to let more people know that otters should not be kept as pets.” Each step is finished by a team instead of a single maker得到证实,即自贡灯笼的制作是团队合作的结果。 8. Do you know what achievements China􀆳s Olympic delegation(代表团) at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games achieved? Whether it􀆳s a sandwich, French fries, or an ice cream cone, seaguls seem to love rushing down and taking humans􀆳 food away. A study has now shown that this is not a secret: Seaguls realy are more likely to steal food if they see humans eating it first. Scientists carried out their research at a beach. They taped(粘) two different potato chip bags to tiles(瓦片) that were placed near some seaguls. The research team used a green bag of chips(salt and vinegar) and a blue bag of chips(cheese and onion). The scientists then moved about 16 feet away and began recording the birds􀆳 action. At first the scientists just sat there, looking at the camera without eating or doing anything else. Then, to test whether the birds were paying attention, the researchers ate from a bag of chips. They did this to interest the seaguls. When the scientists did nothing, only about one fifth of the seaguls were interested enough to come over and look into the chip bags on the ground. When the scientists started eating chips, though, nearly half of the birds got close to the chip bags. When the birds started pecking(啄 食) at the bags on the ground, almost al of them went for the bag in the same colour as the one the scientists were eating from. The study suggests that choosing not to feed seaguls at the beach is not enough to solve the food-snatching(抢食的) problem. Since the birds seem to make choices about what to snack on by watching humans, people shouldn􀆳t let seaguls see them eat. A researcher said that because seaguls and humans at the beach haven􀆳t been in close touch for long, this ability must come from the seaguls􀆳 general smartness and behavioural adaptability(适应性).
