Ten little, nine little, eight little candle, seven little, six little, five little candles, four little, three little two. 令人头疼的时差。现在是几点了？现在是5点30分，现在是11点30分，我这现在是0点30分，现在几点了？为什么在地球上会出现这么多答案？难道时间不是一致的吗？这就是那个让很多人头疼的问题，时差。当然我可以保证，如果没有时差的设定，会有更多的人头疼。要想弄清楚这个问题，首先要知道我们每天都要关注的时间是怎么设定的。由于地球大多数地区天亮和天黑的时间是随着季节而改变的，比如在北京夏天天亮得早黑得晚，冬天则正好相反。所以我们把太阳经过某地天空的最高点时定为此地的地方时12点。当太阳再一次经过某地天空的最高点时，时间过去了24个小时。那么我们按照地球自转来计算一下，大概是每小时自转15度，也就是说经度每间隔15度，地方时相差1个小时，每间隔一度时间差四分钟，这就是时差。那么时差怎么计算呢？1884年在华盛顿召开国际经度会议时，为了克服时间上的混乱，规定将全球划分为24个时区，相邻15度经线内所用的同一时间是区时。比如北京所在的东八区就是从东经112.5度到东经127.5度，采用东经120度的地方时为区时。全世界所用的同一时间是世界时。零度经线的地方时，各地的标准时间为格林威治时间GMT加上或减去时区中所标的小时和分钟数时差。两个地区的时差可以采用同区相减、异区相加的方法，即两地同为东时区，西时区则相减。一个东西时区，另一个西东时区则相加。东时区的时间总比西时区要早，东时区的数值越大，时间越早，西十区的数值越大越晚。例如，北京属于东八区，纽约属于西五区，两地的时差是13小时，北京比纽约要早13个小时。如果是美国实行夏令时的时期，则相差12小时。大多数国家会在国内使用统一的标准时间，比如我国使用标准时间的就是北京时间。这就会出现一些有趣的现象，北京的同学们在早晨八点钟上第一节课时，而在我国西部，新疆同学才刚刚起床，他们将会在上午十点钟上第一节课。不要羡慕新疆的同学们，其实那就是新疆地区地方时的八点，他们在晚上还要晚睡觉。 nullnull Part A Let’s talk & Let’s play Unit 2 What time is it?
