News job search platform offers easy-to-use filters that help you narrow down job options by location, salary, and posting date. Below is a list of some of the best job search websites for your reference: CareerBuilder CareerBuilder offers job listings at various levels and has an app for reviewing jobs on the go. It includes features like “recommended skills” to help assess your qualifications and personalized career tests for better guidance. However, the site is filled with ads, which can be distracting, and some job listings may be outdated, leading to wasting time. Glassdoor Known for its anonymous company reviews, Glassdoor also lists job opportunities. It’s free to use and provide salary estimates for positions, offering valuable insights for job seekers. However, the site lacks advanced search filters, which can make finding the right job more challenging. Additionally, employee reviews can be biased, so it’s important to take them with caution. Indeed Indeed is a popular platform with a wide range of job listings, including remote work opportunities. It offers a mobile app for easy access, salary information, and company reviews. While it’s free to use, some job postings may be outdated, which can be frustrating. Also, the user interface could be more visually appealing and flexible to enhance the overall experience. Wellfound Wellfound is another job search platform that’s particularly useful for finding tech jobs. While it provides access to numerous listings and valuable company insights, its search functionality could be improved for better precision. Compared with the other sites, its database is relatively small and focused mainly on positions in startups. 1. On which website can you better understand your career preferences? A. CareerBuilder. B. Indeed. C. Glassdoor. D. Wellfound. 2. What do Glassdoor and Indeed have in common? A. They provide objective reviews. B. They offer the latest job postings. C. They do not charge any fee to use. D. They have appealing user interfaces. 3 What is special about Wellfound compared to other websites? A. It helps assess employees’ qualifications. B. It focuses on tech and startup jobs. C. Five minutes later, I stepped in front of 68 MBA students to lecture without missing a beat, and even stayed a few minutes after to answer questions. I held strong until. I got in the car to drive home. That’s when I fell to pieces. I fought to see the road through my tears as I spoke with my travel agent to book the next flight out. My mother pulled through the surgery. My response to my mother’s crisis was in line with my deep, long-term fear of showing weakness or admitting to feeling overwhelmed. As the youngest daughter from a Vietnamese refugee family, showcasing my strength seemed the best way to honor my parents’ and siblings’s acrifices that have given me a better life in the United States. I did not want colleagues to question my capabilities or friends and family to see me as anything less than unshakable. The truth was, I desired to pause, to catch my breath, to simply say, “I’m struggling.” I longed to be weak. I wanted to acknowledge my mistakes, to honor a range of emotions, and to ask for help. Cautiously, I began to reveal some of my struggles to my personal and professional circles, watching closely for reactions. Some looked down on my experience. To my great relief, a few listened without judgment and respected my boundaries and coping process. They offered information about counseling services, legal help, support groups, and hotlines. They helped me see that even professionals in leadership positions can need support. To anyone bearing the weight of constant strength, hear this: True strength isn’t about never hesitating. It’s about having the courage to admit when we’re struggling, reaching out for support, and having the strength to piece ourselves back together and move on. 4. What did the author do after hanging up the phone? A. She drove to look after her mother. B. She quickly booked a flight ticket. C. She hesitated to start her teaching. D. She kept calm and stayed on duty. 5 Why did the author showcase her strength? A. To help her mother make a full recovery. B. To prove she lived a good and happy life. C. To avoid possible doubts over her abilities. D. To give herself an advantage in promotion. 6. How did some people help the author? A. By persuading her to win leaders’ support. B. By convincing her seeking help is a must. C. By listening to her and giving judgments. D. By sharing similar experiences with her. 7. What does the author want to convey in the text? A. Strength does not mean hiding struggles. B. Strength gives us more courage to grow. C. Comparing yourself with others is harmful. D. Worldly labels block personal development. 【答案】4. D 5. C 6. B 7. A study of nearly 90,000 participants in the UK suggests that putting all your weekly exercise on weekends still has significant health benefits compared with being inactive. In this study, participants who cram all their recommended weekly physical activity into one or two days are referred to as “weekend warriors”. The researchers collected data from 89,573 volunteers by requiring them to wear a wrist device (手腕设备) to track their weekly physical activity. These participants were then divided into three groups based on their exercise patterns (模式): regular exercisers, who spread their exercise throughout the week; weekend warriors, who did most of their exercise in one day or two; and inactive participants. After grouping the participants, the researchers compared their health records to examine the related health benefits. The study found that, compared with those who were inactive, weekend warriors and regular exercisers experienced similar health benefits, with both groups having a lower risk of developing more than 200 diseases. Specifically, the strongest effects were for cardiometabolic diseases. Both groups had a 20%lower risk of high blood pressure and a 40%lower risk of diabetes. Dr. Shaan Khurshid, a cardiologist at Massachusetts general hospital in Boston, who led the study, said, “It shows that, for health benefits, it’s really the amount of physical activity rather than its frequency that matters. The key is, however you are going to get that amount, do it in the way that works for you.” Khurshid also mentioned the need for more research to explore whether the “weekend warrior” workout pattern could help people reach their activity goals more easily. “It might be more convenient for some people and help them follow public health advice better,” he said. 12. What does the underlined word “cram” in paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Pack. B. Break. C. Divide. D. Turn. 13. How did the researchers test the health benefits in the three groups? A. By checking their physical health. B. By comparing their health records. C. By reviewing their exercise records. D. By examining their workout patterns. 14. According to Dr. Khurshid, what is more important for health benefits? A. How often you exercise each week. B. How long you exercise each time. C. How much exercise you do each week D. How much effort you put into exercise. 15. What can we infer about the “weekend warrior” workout pattern? A. It follows public health advice. B. It might suit people with busy schedules. C. It could help people reach their workout goals. D. It will soon be promoted as the best exercise plan. 【答案】12. A 13. B 14. C 15. It wasn’t until my third year in high school that I made up my mind to become a writer. Before that, I’d been bored with everything associated with English courses. I hated it when the task turned out long, lifeless paragraphs that were painful for teachers to read and for me to write. So when I learned Mr. Smith would teach us for third-year English, I saw another boring year. It was said that Mr. Smith was dull and unable to inspire students. Luckily, it was not the case. Before Mr. Smith taught us, I had guessed that I would have to bear a fruitless year with him. At the beginning it appeared to be so. But a month later, we needed to write an informal article. Mr. Smith handed out a homework sheet, offering us a choice for various topics. I took the sheet home and did nothing until one day before the deadline. Lying on the sofa, I finally faced up to the unwelcome task, took the sheet out of my notebook, and scanned it. The topic which caught my eye was “The Art of Eating Spaghetti”. This title produced a special series of mental images. Vivid and sweet memories came flooding back to a night when all of us were seated around the supper table. . On the table was spaghetti (意大利面条), which was known to most of us back then. Immediately the good humor of spaghetti woke up in my mind as I recalled how we tried and argued over socially respectable methods for moving spaghetti from the plate to our mouth. Suddenly I wanted to write about that, about the warmth and good feelings of it, but I wanted to put it down simply for my own joy, not for Mr. Smith. Maybe Mr. Smith would be annoyed, but it felt so good to write for myself! The next morning I turned in my essay, a bit worried and a bit eager. 注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为100左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Two days later in class, Mr. Smith returned everyone’s graded paper except mine. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version Two days later in class, Mr. Smith returned everyone’s graded paper except mine. Anxious and embarrassed, I sank into my seat. Mr. Smith must have been annoyed at my essay. The thought made my heart sink. But then Mr. Smith cleared his throat, signaled us to listen and started to read an essay. It was mine! The Art of Eating Spaghetti! He read in high spirits, his voice, his hand and his mouth all joining in. All the good humor of eating spaghetti woke in the class. My classmates laughed themselves under the desk. So did I myself. “You are so humorous. You promise to be a good writer!” Mr. Smith beamed. He did touch me! And he did inspire me to have taken writing seriously since my third year. For example, the U. S. However the site is filled with ads, which can be distracting, and some job listings may be outdated, leading to wasting time. It offers company reviews and salary data. D. It lists many jobs in remote areas. B Moments before heading to teach a class, I received a call from my sister: My mother was going into emergency surgery and might not make it through the night. 5. Why did the author showcase her strength? C Students from Taizhou Middle School, Jiangsu Province, experience farming during their labor course. As we all know, the life skills like cooking and painting are important and should be taught as part of labor education. On June 3, 2020, the Ministry of Education ( MOE) gave a document showing the revised curriculum (修改后的方案) for senior high schools across the country. Labor education includes housework, school labor and community voluntary services and so on. “Labor education must be carried out with the purpose to make the right view of the world, life and values and develop an interest in doing chores,” said Vice-Minister of Education Zheng Fuzhi. According to China Youth Daily, the labor course will take six credits (学分)—the same as foreign language and physics. Voluntary service, as part of labor education, would take two credits. The MOE also asks schools to make sure 40 hours of voluntary service during the full three school years. According to Xinhua, adding labor education was out of care that the country’s young people do too little housework and that they think labor jobs aren’t important. Because of a lot of school pressure, schools pay more attention to the course of education, and parents may think that the chores waste their kids’ time. According to a survey, middle school students in China only spend 12 minutes a day on chores, compared with 72 minutes in the US, 42 minutes in South Korea and 30 minutes in France. However, doing housework does not distract young people. Instead, they are necessary for developing a strong working spirit, according to Julie Lythcott-Haims, the writer of How to Raise an Adult. “The earlier you started, the better…”, he said. 8. A. Pack. B. Break. C. Divide. D. Turn. 13 How did the researchers test the health benefits in the three groups? C. It will soon be promoted as the best exercise plan. 第二节七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,共12.5分) Hashtags (标签) and keywords for Citywalk are currently trending across multiple Chinese social media platforms as more and more people look to share their experiences and thoughts online. ____16____ Some organizers invite folk culture researchers and enthusiasts to act as tour guides. It wasn’t until my third year in high school that I made up my mind to become a writer. Before that I’d been bored with everything associated with English courses. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
