Visions Service International shows ways for your teens to be a teen without borders through service work and cross⁃cultural living. 2.Summer Study Abroad Programs Studying abroad is my passion—there􀆳s something unique about studying in another country that makes the subject matter come alive, from archaeology to literature. Studying abroad in a high school, whether for a summer or on exchange, can get your teens excited about learning again. For those that can􀆳t afford it, there are many ways of financing study abroad, including government programs to fund language learning overseas. 3.Summer Adventures and Cultural Travel Abroad Maybe your teen is more drawn to adventures. There are many opportunities for adventures abroad—and the best programs combine adventures with language learning, cultural activities, and community service, so that adventurous teens get the best of all worlds. Broadreach offers 70+ summer adventures in 40+ countries, including marine biology, sailing, language immersion, culture, arts, community service, leadership and outdoor skills. 4.Summer Language Immersion (沉浸) Some language learning programs also provide volunteer opportunities. This can be an ideal way to break up study with helping others. Intercultural Costa Rica also includes cultural activities and tours. The Alpine French School provides both language learning and cultural and outdoor activities. French Summer Classes is a unique opportunity for your teens to have a home⁃stay and language program in one. We all want happy relationships but if we do not keep that relationship alive, it can also be one of the most distraught things in life. There may be no hard and fast rules in making good relationships, as each of us has different preferences and points of view as to what is a great relationship. The following are some major key points in making relationships work. It is often said that building good relationships is all about communication. Good communication indeed governs a good relationship—knowing the right thing to say, when to say it, how to say it, and accepting that some things are better left unsaid. I personally think communication must be broadened because relationships involve more decisions to make. From study to work, from money to entertainment and even in things about yourself or about your friend that you do not know, communication is essential in these aspects of relationships. Of course, being with someone is not saying that you totally agree with him all the time. You and your friend come from different family backgrounds, raised in different environments so there may be disagreements here and there. However, it is important in making relationships work to express disagreements without pushing the relationship to end. Again, good communication and learning to compromise (妥协) at times are necessary. As the relationship lasts longer, you may also discover things about you and your friend that you may not have known before. Therefore, supporting each other on both your “hidden selves” can also make a good relationship. Love is an important aspect of building relationships and for me, I always believe that love needs open communication, respect, support and understanding each other in making relationships work. 4.The underlined word “distraught” in paragraph 1 probably means .  A. helpless B. surprising C. funny D. upsetting 答案与解析 D 词义猜测题。根据第一段中的“Good relationships are definitely good sources of happiness in life. We all want happy relationships but if we do not keep that relationship alive, it can also be one of the most distraught things in life.” D。 5.To communicate well with people, you should know that .  A. supporting each other in anything helps build a good relationship B. a white lie is necessary sometimes C. compromises are essential at any time D. your friends need to have the same backgrounds with you 答案与解析 B 推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Good communication indeed governs a good relationship—knowing the right thing to say, when to say it, how to say it, and accepting that some things are better left unsaid.” B。 6.According to the text, which of the following are important for a good relationship? a. communication b. support c. love d. hidden selves A. a, b, d B. a, c, d C. b, c, d D. a, b, c 答案与解析 D 细节理解题。根据最后一段“Love is an important aspect of building relationships and for me, I always believe that love needs open communication, respect, support and understanding each other in making relationships work.” D。 7.What would be the best title for the text? A. The Importance of Expressing Disagreements B. Keys to Making Relationships Work C. Different Opinions on Good Relationships D. Forbidden Rules in Building Good Relationships 答案与解析 B 标题归纳题。第一段最后一句“The following are some major key points in making relationships work.” B。 C After a meeting shortly before the winter break, I walked through the halls of floor 3 in MetaForum, ready to leave the building, when I heard a voice call out my name. It was a friend with whom I shared a connection that is quite rare around this campus—both of us are from Slovakia. Extremely happy to hear my native language after so long, I joined him in the room that he booked to study in. During our conversation, he revealed to me that first⁃year committee exist within the study association GEWIS and that he belongs to one. Long story short, he took me to the GEWIS room where I started the process of joining one committee. Not only did GEWIS give me a social life during the pandemic, but it also presented me with countless exciting activities and opportunities. Unfortunately, most of my international friends cannot relate. During the summer break, I got a text from Fort who is now our chairman. He said that there were plans to start a committee to get more internationals involved in GEWIS. Fort is a local student. I was surprised to see him taking such an initiative I appreciated the sympathy (同情) for the difficulty that internationals deal with, so I joined the first meeting. Fast forward to today we are a committee containing 8 different nationalities. You might see us on campus wearing our iconic light⁃green and purple T⁃shirts with the word “GeLOBAL” on it. With our diverse team, there is no shortage of ideas for making GEWIS more international⁃friendly, and for fun activities. On the 25th of October, we kicked things off with our first official GEWIS activity—around the globe with GeLOBAL. The people who joined took part in a fun yet educational pub quiz involving trivia (冷知识) questions from all around the world. They also got the opportunity to learn useful phrases (such as pick⁃up lines) from a wide pool of languages. There were snacks and drinks—including foreign ones, of course. There was a welcoming, inclusive energy in the air. 8.Why does the author have a rare relationship with his friend? A. Grateful. B. Tolerant. C. Resistant. D. Critical. 根据第三段的“I appreciated the sympathy (同情) for the difficulty that internationals deal with, so I joined the first meeting.” A。 10.Why did Fort want to start a committee for foreign students? A. To make himself their leader. B. To help them adapt to life there. C. To teach them different languages. D. To involve them in international affairs. 根据第三段的“He said that there were plans to start a committee to get more internationals involved in GEWIS.”和最后一段的“The people who joined took part in a fun yet educational pub quiz involving trivia(冷知识) questions from all around the world. They also got the opportunity to learn useful phrases (such as pick⁃up lines) from a wide pool of languages. There were snacks and drinks—including foreign ones, of course. There was a welcoming, inclusive energy in the air.” B。 11.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. GEWIS: the Platform B. The Internationals C. GEWIS: Welcome You D. The Campus Life Abroad 答案与解析 A 标题归纳题。根据第二段的“During our conversation, he revealed to me that first⁃year committee exist within the study association GEWIS and that he belongs to one. Long story short, he took me to the GEWIS room where I started the process of joining one committee. Do you like yellow, orange or red? If you do, you must be an optimist, a leader, an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement. Do you prefer greys and blues? Then you are probably quiet, shy and you would rather follow than lead. If you love green, you are strong⁃minded and determined. You wish to succeed and want other people to see you are successful. At least this is what psychologists tell us, and they should know, because they have been seriously studying the meaning of colour preference, and the effect that colours have on human beings. They tell us that we don􀆳t choose our favourite colour as we grow up. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly. A yellow room makes us feel more cheerful and comfortable than a dark green one, and a red dress rings warmth and cheer to the saddest winter day. On the other hand, black is depressing. Light and bright colours make people not only happier but also more active. It is a fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machines are painted orange rather than black or dark grey. Remember, then, that if you feel low, you can always brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or a few colourful things. Remember also that you will know your friends and your enemies better when you find out what colours they like and dislike. And don􀆳t forget that anyone can guess a lot about your character when you choose a piece of handkerchief. 【语篇解读】 这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了颜色与人之间有一定的联系:人对颜色的偏爱是天生的;颜色对人的心境有一定的影响。 好词 ①optimist n. 乐观的人; 乐天派; ②psychologist n. 心理学家; ③brighten v. 使更明亮;有希望 12.According to this passage, .  A. one can choose his colour preference B. one is born with his colour preference C. one􀆳s colour preference is changeable D. one has to choose his favourite colour as soon as he can see clearly 答案与解析 B 细节理解题。根据第一段末尾两句“They tell us that we don􀆳t choose our favourite colour as we grow up. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly.”(他们告诉我们,在我们成长的过程中,我们不会选择自己喜欢的颜色。如果你碰巧喜欢褐色,你一睁开眼睛就会喜欢上它,或者至少你一看清东西就会喜欢上它。)可知,对于颜色的偏爱是天生的。故选B。 13.If someone chooses a red handkerchief, he will probably do the following things EXCEPT .  A. becoming a leader B. joining the Student Union C. always complaining and blaming others D. getting along well with others 答案与解析 C 细节理解题。根据第一段第二、三句“Do you like yellow, orange or red? If you do, you must be an optimist, a leader, an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement.” (你喜欢黄色、橙色、红色吗?如果你喜欢的话,你肯定是一个乐观主义者,一个领导者,一个积极的人,享受生活,与人交往,享受激动。)可知,A项“becoming a leader”;B项“joining the Student Union”和D项“getting along well with others”均属于喜欢红色的人的特点。C项“always complaining and blaming others”不属于其特点。故选C。 14.“I am feeling black” means .  A. I am feeling well B. I am very happy C. I am excited D. I am depressed 答案与解析 D 细节理解题。根据第二段第二句“On the other hand, black is depressing.” (另一方面,黑色令人沮丧。)可知,黑色代表消极,因此“I am feeling black”可以理解为“我”很沮丧。故选D。 15.The main idea of this passage is that .  A. one􀆳s colour preference shows one􀆳s character B. you can brighten your life with wonderful colours C. psychologists have been studying the meaning of colour preference D. one􀆳s colour preference has something to do with his character and colours have effects on human beings 答案与解析 D 主旨大意题。根据文章结构为分总结构,第一段讲述了颜色偏爱体现性格,第二段讲述了颜色对人的影响,第三段中的“Remember, then, that if you feel low, you can always brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or a few colourful things. Remember also that you will know your friends and your enemies better when you find out what colours they like and dislike.”对两方面进行总结。选项D “one􀆳s colour preference has something to do with his character and colours have effects on human beings”概括全面,故选D。 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Eyesight plays a very important role in our daily life. Our first stop was the Museum of Chinese Ceramics, which has 39 unique and exquisite collection of porcelain made from materials such as clay (陶土) and stone.  The guide told us of the great achievements in ceramics from ancient times until today. I listened carefully to everything. 40 (date) back to Neolithic (新石器时代) period, clay was used 41 (make) pottery (陶器), which people used to carry water and food. Today, we still use porcelain but our pottery is far more beautiful than the products of those times.  On the second day, the team leader took us to a small DIY porcelain factory. Under the 42 (guide) of the teacher, we 43 (give) some clay and the chance to design a piece of pottery. Although our efforts were not as beautiful as the articles in the museum, they were our own work. The two⁃day activity was very 44 (enjoy) and meaningful. I learned a lot about porcelain and made an item 45 my own. It meant a lot to me. 41.to make 考查固定短语。句意同上。短语be used to do“被用来做……”,故填to make。 短语on one􀆳s own“独自地”,故填on。 第三部分 写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节 应用文写作(满分15分) 假如你是李华,你的英国笔友Lucy 刚刚转入新的学校,一时无法适应新的环境。她在邮件中向你询问如何尽快融入新环境。请你给她回一封电子邮件。内容包括: 1.多跟同学交流沟通; 2.积极参加学校活动; 3.向老师寻求帮助。 注意:写作词数应为80左右。 Dear Lucy,           Yours, Li Hua 范文 One possible version Dear Lucy, I􀆳m sorry to hear that you are having difficulty in getting used to the new environment at your new school. It was Thanksgiving and everyone was getting ready for a big dinner. The doorbell kept ringing as cousins, grandparents, uncles and aunts all came to visit. Amazing smells were coming from the kitchen. Dottie was not allowed to be in the kitchen today. Mom said that she would get in the way. Dad said she would lick (舔) everything she could reach. They were both right. The children had been asked to keep the dog out of the way. They did, at first. However, once their cousins arrived, they forgot about Dottie and started playing with each other. The dog got closer and closer to the kitchen. Everything smelled so good! On the edge of the table was a plate filled with slices of ham (火腿) . Before she had a chance to eat it, Dad saw her. “No! Leave that alone, Dottie! No food for you,” he said. Then he let the dog out into the yard where some family members were playing football. Dottie smiled. This was good! She liked running. She grabbed (抓住) the football from a small boy and wouldn􀆳t give it back. He started to cry, and Dottie got in trouble. “That􀆳s enough, Dottie,” said Uncle Bill, taking the ball away from her. “Maybe you should go back in.” He opened the door again, and the sad puppy went inside. The puppy went into the dining room and no one was there. Dottie went under the table. The tablecloth was so long that it hung down to the ground. This was a good place for a sleep, she thought. In the kitchen, everything was ready. Mom and Dad began carrying big bowls and plates of delicious food into the dining room. “Before we get started, we should take a family picture,” suggested Mom. Dad agreed. They went to tell everyone to go outside for a Thanksgiving photo together. Dottie􀆳s nose woke up before she did. She came out from under the table. She looked around. The house was empty. She remembered what Dad had said. “No food for you.” He was wrong. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 “Oh, YES, food for me!” Dottie thought, excitedly.   “Oh my goodness!” said Mom.   范文 One possible version “Oh, YES, food for me!” Dottie thought, excitedly. She sniffed each plate first and then decided to taste the turkey first because it was Thanksgiving. After a lick, she wanted more. She wolfed down a turkey leg within a minute. So satisfied was she that she believed it was the best thing she had ever eaten. She continued to take a bite of the others one by one. “This is the best day in my life. I have never been so happy!” Dottie thought. “Oh my goodness!” said Mom. She immediately rushed out to call other family members to have a look. Everyone was shocked at the mess on the table. Almost each dish had been spoiled and some was splattered all over the table. At the same time, Dottie stopped and became well⁃behaved when she saw people􀆳s helpless look, realizing she might have brought disaster. Mom couldn􀆳t accept it and ran upstairs, sobbing. Just then, Dad said soothingly, “Luckily, we still have food delivery service. Let􀆳s try a special Thanksgiving dinner.” 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
