Starting this term, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have longer breaks between classes, changing from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The change is meant to encourage students to spend time outdoors for their physical and mental (心理的) health.
To allow children to enjoy break-time activities, some schools have mixed break time with labor education (劳动教育) by opening areas for planting and feeding animals.

“We know it was you, Mr. Ryder,” Holmes said. “You don’t need to tell me much. I know nearly everything about the case. But I have one or two questions to ask. How did you hear of the blue diamond (钻石)?”
“Catherine Cusack told me,” said Ryder.
“I see,” Holmes went on. “So, you and Cusack wanted to get the diamond and sell it for lots of money. You asked John Horner to come and repair the window in the room because you knew of his time in prison (监狱). When he left, you stole the diamond from the box and then called the police. Because of Horner’s time in prison, they believed he was the thief. It was all very easy. Then…”
“Oh, please, please!” cried Ryder, now on the floor at Holmes’ feet. “Think of my father! Think of my mother! I never did anything wrong before. I’m never going to do it again. Please don’t tell the police.”
“Sit down in your chair!” said Holmes unsympathetically. “You’re crying now, but did you feel sorry for young Horner? He knew nothing of the crime! But the police believed he was a diamond thief, and so he is now going to prison—all because of you.”
“Now, please tell me, Mr. Ryder. How did the diamond get into a goose (鹅)?”
Ryder began his story: “After the police caught Horner, I went to my sister’s house in South London with the diamond in my pocket. I told her about the diamond thief. Then I went into the back garden. ‘How can I walk across London with the diamond?’ I thought. Then I looked down at the geese and I thought of something. I knew one of those geese was for me, for my Christmas dinner. So I quickly caught a big white goose with a black tail. Then I took the diamond from my pocket and put it into its mouth. With the diamond now inside the goose, I felt happy…”
(Adapted from The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle)

【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了福尔摩斯与莱德之间关于蓝色钻石盗窃案的对话,揭示了案件的部分真相。
【28题详解】
细节理解题。根据“You asked John Horner to come and repair the window in the room because you knew of his time in prison (监狱)”可知,莱德让约翰·霍纳来修窗户是因为霍纳有犯罪记录,这样可以嫁祸给他。故选B。
【29题详解】
词义猜测题。根据“‘Sit down in your chair!’ said Holmes unsympathetically. ‘You’re crying now, but did you feel sorry for young Horner? He knew nothing of the crime! But the police believed he was a diamond thief, and so he is now going to prison—all because of you.’”可知,福尔摩斯没有同情莱德,而是严厉地指责他,可推测出“unsympathetically”意为“冷漠无情地”。故选B。
【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据“‘Catherine Cusack told me,’ said Ryder.”以及“So, you and Cusack wanted to get the diamond and sell it for lots of money.”可知,首先是莱德和库萨克计划偷钻石;根据“When he left, you stole the diamond from the box and then called the police”可知,接着莱德从盒子里偷走钻石;根据“Because of Horner’s time in prison, they believed he was the thief.”可知,然后警察抓住了霍纳;根据“I knew one of those geese was for me...So I quickly caught a big white goose with a black tail. Then I took the diamond from my pocket and put it into its mouth.”可知,之后莱德把钻石藏在鹅肚子里;根据“‘We know it was you, Mr. Ryder,’ Holmes said.”

As night falls, the sound of drums fills the air as an 8-meter fish-shaped lantern, followed by a team of smaller ones, parades (游行) through the streets of Wangmantian village, in East China’s Anhui province. The lantern parade dances in the moonlight, like fish, chasing the moon reflected in the water.
In the crowd, Wang Lijun—a 27-year-old villager who serves as the “head fish”—leads the parade of lanterns. Sometimes she cheers on the team behind her. Traditionally, respected elders held the position of “head fish”, but in recent years, younger players returning to their hometown have taken on the role as volunteers. “It has become an emotional connection. Such an energetic custom has attracted more young villagers like me back home, and also young tourists flooding in to experience this traditional Chinese culture,” Wang said.
Every year, villagers in Wangmantian hold fish-shaped lantern parades during the Spring Festival. The mountain village often faced the risk of fires in old times. Therefore, villagers used to gather to parade with fish-shaped lanterns, wishing “water overcoming (战胜) fire”. Over time, such a tradition has developed into a wish for good health and wealth. With a history of over 600 years, the fish-shaped lantern was recognized as a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage (省级非遗) in 2022. Through social media, more than 100,000 visitors from across the country came to Shexian county to experience the parades during this year’s Spring Festival from Feb 10th to Feb 17th.
While protecting the intangible cultural heritage, ________. Total sales of fish-shaped lanterns and related (相关) products rise to about 1.15 million yuan ($159,700) during this year’s Spring Festival. Wang Huawu, a 41-year-old craftsman (手工艺人) of fish-shaped lanterns, said that since 2023, his workshop has been “filled with orders” and has received nearly 100,000 yuan worth of orders from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.
As fish-shaped lanterns continue to benefit local tourism and related industries, the future looks brighter than ever.

①Recently I was working on an overseas museum project. When I asked ChatGPT to give an introduction to the Li Gui an ancient Chinese artifact (文物), it began introducing that this artifact was made by Di Yi, a ruler in Shang Dynasty, to honor his father. However, this was completely false information. According to the museum, the Li Gui was actually made in Western Zhou Dynasty.
②I then asked Deep Seek about the academic sources (文献来源) for the use that the Li Gui was to honor Di Yi’s father. It listed a lot of references (参考文献) which actually don’t exist at all.
③Here comes a hot topic: AI hallucinations (幻觉). They are situations where an AI system produces information that seems true but is actually incorrect, false, or totally made up. This can happen when an AI provides false facts, invents sources, or creates misleading references, often with a high degree of confidence.
④With Byte Dance’s latest AI technology, a photo can be turned into a lively video. For example, it can create a speech video from a single photo of a person, with natural expressions and gestures. If a photo taken on the street is used, the AI system can even make up background people and moving cars. Now, can you sense any possible risks?
⑤Imagine if this technology becomes widely available, a group of people could use AI to create a fake (虚假) speech video with a well-known expert talking about a false history. They could spread this video on social medias to flood the internet with misinformation.
⑥Over time, what would happen then? Most people would be easily misled, unless you’re an expert in the field. Gradually, the fake information would be planted deeply into people’s memories, and when the group finally believe it, some fake artifacts will be sold as real ones.
⑦However, in reality, how many people have the opportunities and ability to double check the facts in person? With just a second, an AI-created false memory could unknowingly rush into your mind. So you really need to be cautious (谨慎的) in this AI era.
36. Which of the following isn’t the problem caused by AI?
A. False information. B. Invented sources. C. Real news. D. Made-up references.
37. What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards AI technology?
A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Disappointed. D. Curious.
38. What can we infer from this passage?
A. The Li Gui from West Zhou Dynasty was made to honor Di Yi’s father.
B. AI system always provides false information that-misleads its users.
C. Patients may watch videos about medicine that can treat any disease.
D. Most of us won’t be cheated by the misinformation provided by AI.
39. Which of the following best shows the structure of this passage?
A. B.
C. D.
【答案】36. C 37. B 38. C 39. B
【解析】

This can happen when an AI provides false facts, invents sources, or creates misleading references”可知,AI会产生虚假信息、编造来源和参考文献。而真实新闻并非AI带来的问题。故选C。
【37题详解】
细节理解题。根据“So you really need to be cautious (谨慎的) in this AI era.”

Emily Brewster is a well-known lexicographer (词典编纂者) for Merriam-Webster Dictionary. When she was young, her grandfather used to make up funny words like “prapapatis” to play with her. These word games helped raise her interest in language.
After studying English in college, Emily worked for a company that developed reading programs for people who had trouble reading. She saw how hard it was for some people to understand words. This experience helped her decide to become a lexicographer.
To develop her knowledge and skills, Emily decided to go back to school to study linguistics (语言学). She learned how words work, how they change over time. She also studied the history of words and the cultural contexts that shape their meanings. These skills prepared her well for her future job as a lexicographer.
Today, Emily has become a professional lexicographer, widely recognized for her achievement in the field.
Welcome to Teens Voice. I’m Ada. Today, we have Emily Brewster with us.
Ada: Emily, did you face any difficulties on the way to a professional lexicographer?
Emily: Certainly. My parents thought I should choose a more common career (职业), like a teacher or a nurse. They worried that I wouldn’t find a good job or make enough money. Arguments often broke out in the first two years of my career. I had to keep explaining to my parents how much I loved working with words. I also showed them some of the work I did. Gradually, they started to change.
Ada: That’s great to hear! Were there any other difficulties you’d like to talk about?
Emily: Yes. I often spent long hours researching and writing, which led to serious neck and back pain. What’s more, the long periods of reading and writing really hurt my eyes and sometimes I even had headaches.
Ada: What a difficult time you had! One last question, our students are curious about how to prepare for future career. Based on (基于) your own experience, what suggestions would you give to them?
Emily: Teenagers, here are my suggestions. ________.

Over the break time between classes, Xiao Jingsheng from Beijing Shangdi Experimental School often rushed to the toilet and back to class with no time for anything else. But now that has changed. “I can have more time to rest and share interesting things with my classmates,” said the 14-year-old.
“We have welcomed new friends to our school-some ducks and rabbits!” said Zhang Boren, a 13-year-old from Beijing 101 Middle School. “There are fewer students sitting at their desks. Some play with these cute animals, while others exercise on the playground. We get closer to nature, which is quite new and relaxing.”
Some schools have opened up activity areas both indoors and outdoors. At Chaoyang Middle School, the ground floor of the teaching building has opened a biology lab for students to study the life of animals and plants. The second-floor hallway is designed with spaces for free reading and chess games.
As the break time is longer, making sure everyone is safe is also important.

①Recently I was working on an overseas museum project. When I asked ChatGPT to give an introduction to the Li Gui, an ancient Chinese artifact (文物), it began introducing that this artifact was made by Di Yi, a ruler in Shang Dynasty, to honor his father.
They are situations where an AI system produces information that seems true but is actually incorrect false, or totally made up.
A. B.
C. D.
