S: Classic Designs. Good morning! How can I help you?
K: Good morning. My name’s Karen Jenkins. I’m looking at the green silk
dress in this week’s You magazine, and I’m not sure about the size.
I usually take Size 8 or 10. How do the sizes compare?
S: Size 8 is 32 inches in the bust, that’s 81 centimetres. Size 10 is 2 inches
bigger. A Size 10 bust is 34 inches. That’s 86 centimetres.
K: What about the waist and hips?
S: Do you prefer inches or centimetres?
K: It doesn’t matter which. Let’s say inches.
S: OK. A Size 8 is 25 inches in the waist, and 36 inches in the hips. And a
Size 10 is 27 inches in the waist and 38 inches in the hips.
K: Are we talking about my size, or the size of the dress? For example, my
bust is 32 inches, but the dress will be bigger than that, won’t it?
S: That’s right. The sizes are dress sizes, They are always bigger than your
own measurements. So the Size 8 dress is 36 inches wide in the bust and
29 inches in the waist.
K: Really? That sounds big! Size 10 will be enormous. I must think about it.
Thanks very much for now! Goodbye!
