B In 1998, at the age of 22, biologist Ximena Velez-Liendo came face-to-face with South America’s Andean bears on her first day of field research in Bolivia. Her life changed forever when she turned around to see “this beautiful, amazing bear coming out of the forest.” Andean bears are easily recognized by the ring of pale fur (毛皮) that often encircles one or both eyes. Bolivia is home to about 3,000 adult bears, or about one-third of the world’s total Andean bears. The species suffers mainly from habitat loss and conflicts with humans, who sometimes kill the bears when bears destroy crops or hunt livestock (牲畜). Local villagers showed her bear skins hanging in their living rooms, describing how bears were a threat to them. When another community in Tarija showed her some brand-new bee boxes that people didn’t know how to use, she had an idea: Could selling honey help save bears? Training farmers as beekeepers was increasing in other parts of Bolivia as an eco-friendly way to provide income for rural (乡村的) landowners who might otherwise turn to clearing more forest. Velez-Liendo asked Patricia Sanchez, an economist who had experience teaching beekeeping in Bolivia’s highlands, to join the Andean Carnivore Conservation Program in 2017. The program trains locals how to care for hives (蜂箱), get honey and sell it. It also supports other types of nature-friendly agricultural practices, like fencing (围住) livestock and cutting off branches of fruit trees so they don’t attract bears. In exchange, community members agree to protect the forest and not harm Andean bears. “If people don’t see the value of protecting an animal, protecting an ecosystem, then they’re not going to do it,” Velez-Liendo says. Today, more than 60 Andean bears move around through Tarija’s forests, a remarkable increase over the five bears documented in 2017. Her goal is to copy Tarija’s model in the Chuquisaca and Cochabamba regions to the north. Attracting more rural communities to join in can provide “stepping stones” of habitat to connect isolated bear populations, she says. 24. What do we know about Andean bears? A. They have grey fur around the eyes. B. Most of them live mainly in Bolivia. C. They are listed as an endangered species. D. They don’t get along well with humans. 25. Why might rural landowners clear more forests? A. To earn much income. B. To get more space. C. To plant more crops. D. To keep enough bees. 26. Which of the following shows the influence of the program? A. Worrying. B. Fruitless. C. Unclear. D. Effective. 27. What does Velez-Liendo plan to do next? A. Increase locals’ income. B. Set up protection areas. C. Attract more people to join in. D. Develop economy. C The word “manifest” has been chosen as Cambridge Dictionary’s Word of the Year for 2024. Manifest isn’t a new word; it’s been used since at least the 1400s to mean “clear” or “obvious. ” But as time went on, it had different meanings. Its modern meaning — “to imagine achieving something you want, with the belief that imagining it will make it happen” — was first used in the early 1900s. This is the version (版本) of the word that’s become popular today. Cambridge Dictionary’s Wendalyn Nicols explained that the Word of the Year is chosen based on three things: how popular the word is during the year, how it relates to important events, and how interesting it is as a word. And “manifest” was certainly popular — the word was looked up over 130, 000 times on the Cambridge Dictionary website in 2024. The word “manifest” gained traction thanks to celebrities (名人) like singer Dua Lipa, US gymnast Simone Biles, and England soccer player Ollie Watkins, who all said “manifesting” helped them achieve their goals. “Manifesting is a big thing for me, ” Dua Lipa told Time in April. The 2024 year was a big year for the singer, as she headlined the legendary Glastonbury music festival in England in June. As she stood on the stage, she shared how she had “manifested” the moment. “I’ve written this moment down and wished for it and dreamed it and worked so hard,” she said to the crowd. But not everyone is a fan of manifesting. Dr. Sander van der Linden, a psychologist from Cambridge University, believes manifesting is just “magical thinking” with no scientific proof that it actually works. “However, it is necessary to understand the difference between the power of positive thinking and moving reality with your mind — the former is healthy, while the latter is an unfounded belief,” he said. 28. What can we infer from paragraph 2? A. More people tend to dream big. B. Language can change over time. C. Homan imagination knows no limits. D. The meaning of a word matters most. 29. What does the underlined part “gained traction” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Got popular. B. Became clear. C. Remained important. D. Looked new. 30. What does Dua Lipa’s experience suggest? A. She is proud of her confidence. B. She enjoys every moment on stage. C. She owed her success to manifesting. D. She believed 2024 was a lucky year for singers. 31. What is Dr. Sander van der Linden’s attitude towards manifesting? A. Doubtful. B. Hopeful. C. Unconcerned. D. Surprised. D Scientists have made a significant breakthrough in the field of genetic editing with the discovery of a new CRISPR system, named CRISPR-CasX. This new system offers potential advantages over the existing CRISPR-Cas9 technology, making it more precise and efficient in editing genes. The research was conducted by a team of scientists from leading institutions around the world. CRISPR-Cas9 has revolutionized the field of gene editing since its discovery in 2012, allowing scientists to make precise changes to the DNA of living organisms. However, it has some limitations, such as the potential for off-target effects and the need for complex delivery systems. CRISPR-CasX, on the other hand, offers a more streamlined approach. Unlike CRISPR-Cas9, which requires a separate enzyme (酶) to cut the DNA, CRISPR-CasX uses a single protein that both fixes to the target DNA and makes the necessary cuts. This makes it more efficient and reduces the risk of off-target effects. The researchers tested CRISPR-CasX in a variety of cell types, including human cells, and found that it was able to edit genes with high precision and efficiency. They also demonstrated that CRISPR-CasX could be used to correct mutations (突变) in genes associated with genetic diseases, such as cystic fibrosis and Huntington’s disease. One of the most exciting potential applications of CRISPR-CasX is in the field of gene therapy. By using this new system, scientists could potentially develop new treatments for a wide range of genetic diseases, including those that are currently incurable. Additionally, CRISPR-CasX could be used to enhance the effectiveness of existing gene therapies by reducing the risk of off-target effects and improving the delivery of gene-editing tools. The discovery of CRISPR-CasX is a major step forward in the field of genetic editing and holds great promise for the future of gene therapy. However, as with any new technology, there are still many challenges to overcome before it can be used safely and effectively in humans. The researchers hope that their findings will inspire further research and development in this exciting new area of biology. 32. What does the underlined word “revolutionized” in paragraph 2 most probably mean? A. Analysed. B. Transformed. C. Threatened. D. Examined. 33. What advantage does the CRISPR-CasX system have over CRISPR-Cas9? A. It can be used to edit more genes at once. B. It can be used to treat patients with genetic diseases. C. It requires no cuts when editing genes. D. It doesn’t need a separate enzyme to cut the DNA. 34. Which of the following is mentioned as a potential application of CRISPR-CasX? A. Blocking the delivery of gene-editing tools. B. Replacing the current gene therapies. C. Treating currently incurable genetic diseases. D. Increasing off-target effects in gene therapy. 35. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The future of genetic editing. B. The disadvantage of CRISPR-CasX. C. The challenges CRISPR-CasX has brought. D. The impact of the discovery of CRISPR-CasX. Have you ever experienced a situation in your life where you are waiting for a good time to do something very significant? ___36___ In reality, however, waiting for the right time can often mean waiting forever. ___37___ It is a popular practice around the world, as many assume a good starting date is the ideal time for change. He avoided eye contact, whispered in class, and sat alone at lunch. His classmates would often make fun of him, calling him “shy guy” or “quiet quake”. Max felt like he was not important, as if no one truly saw him for who he was, and those who did took pleasure in his discomfort. He spent most of his days trying to hide in the background, wishing he could just disappear. One day, while walking through the school garden after class, Max came across a small plant. Its leaves were yellow and curled, its stem (茎) weak and bent. It seemed like the plant had given up. Max stopped for a moment, crouching (蹲下) down beside it. Something about its struggle to survive touched him deeply. He saw in the plant a reflection of his own quiet battle — against feeling unnoticed, against being misunderstood. Without much thought, Max gently dug it out from the dirt, holding it in his hands. Taking the plant home, Max carefully placed it by his window, where the sun was brightest. He read up on how to care for it, learning about the right amount of water, the importance of pruning, and how plants needed both light and love to grow better. At first, he wasn’t sure what would happen. The plant looked dying, so close to giving up. But Max couldn’t shake the feeling that if he cared for it, if he gave it a little patience, it might survive. Days turned into weeks, and Max’s efforts began to pay off. The plant, once lifeless, slowly began to show signs of recovery. The leaves turned a brighter green, the stem thickened, and tiny new buds (花蕾) began to form. Max found joy in the little changes-watching the plant grow was like watching something inside of him change, too. As his plant grew better, so did Max. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One afternoon, the school principal announced a gardening competition. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2027届高一年级第四次月考英语试卷详解 听力:BAABC BCABA CBBAC BCAAC 阅读:DBD DADC BACA BDCD GBDCE 完形:ABADD DCBAC BCDAD 语填:56. popularity 57. have become 58. which 59. typically 60. to 61. providing 62. to promote 63. largest 64. the 65. were produced 【答案】21. Its modern meaning — “to imagine achieving something you want, with the belief that imagining it will make it happen” — was first used in the early 1900s. This is the version (版本) of the word that’s become popular today.(Manifest并不是一个新词;至少从15世纪开始,它就被用来表示“清楚的”或“明显的”。 根据后文“thanks to celebrities (名人) like singer Dua Lipa, US gymnast Simone Biles, and England soccer player Ollie Watkins, who all said “manifesting” helped them achieve their goals.(由于歌手杜瓦·利帕、美国体操运动员西蒙娜·拜尔斯和英格兰足球运动员奥利·沃特金斯等名人,他们都说“manifest”一词帮助他们实现了目标)”可知,由于名人的推广,所以manifest这个词得到了广泛的关注,推知gained traction为“广为人知”之意,和A项意思相近。故选A项。 根据倒数第二段““Manifesting is a big thing for me, ” Dua Lipa told Time in April. The 2024 year was a big year for the singer, as she headlined the legendary Glastonbury music festival in England in June. As she stood on the stage, she shared how she had “manifested” the moment. “I’ve written this moment down and wished for it and dreamed it and worked so hard,” she said to the crowd.(“manifesting对我来说是件大事,”Dua Lipa在四月接受《时代》杂志采访时表示。 根据最后一段“But not everyone is a fan of manifesting. Dr. Sander van der Linden, a psychologist from Cambridge University, believes manifesting is just “magical thinking” with no scientific proof that it actually works. “However, it is necessary to understand the difference between the power of positive thinking and moving reality with your mind — the former is healthy, while the latter is an unfounded belief,” he said.(但并不是每个人都喜欢manifesting。 故选A项。 B 33. D 34. C 35. 根据划线单词所在句“CRISPR-Cas9 has revolutionized the field of gene editing since its discovery in 2012, allowing scientists to make precise changes to the DNA of living organisms.(自2012年被发现以来,CRISPR-Cas9彻底……了基因编辑领域,使科学家能够对活生物体的DNA进行精确修改)”中的“allowing scientists to make precise changes to the DNA of living organisms”可推测,划线单词和“改变”相似。 根据文章第三段“Unlike CRISPR-Cas9, which requires a separate enzyme (酶) to cut the DNA, CRISPR-CasX uses a single protein that both fixes to the target DNA and makes the necessary cuts.(与CRISPR-Cas9不同,CRISPR-Cas9需要一种单独的酶来切割DNA,而CRISPR-CasX使用一种单一蛋白质,该蛋白质既能附着到目标DNA上,又能进行必要的切割)”可知,CRISPR-Cas9需要单独的酶来切割DNA,而CRISPR-CasX使用单一蛋白质就能完成附着和切割,不需要单独的酶,这是CRISPR-CasX相对于CRISPR-Cas9的优势。 根据文章倒数第二段“By using this new system, scientists could potentially develop new treatments for a wide range of genetic diseases, including those that are currently incurable.(通过使用这种新系统,科学家们有可能开发出针对多种遗传疾病的新疗法,包括目前无法治愈的疾病)”可知,通过使用CRISP-CasX系统,科学家有可能开发出针对包括目前无法治愈的多种遗传疾病的新疗法。 根据文章最后一段“The discovery of CRISPR-CasX is a major step forward in the field of genetic editing and holds great promise for the future of gene therapy. However, as with any new technology, there are still many challenges to overcome before it can be used safely and effectively in humans. The researchers hope that their findings will inspire further research and development in this exciting new area of biology.(CRISPR-CasX的发现是基因编辑领域向前迈出的重要一步,对基因治疗的未来发展充满希望。 【36题详解】 根据上文“Have you ever experienced a situation in your life where you are waiting for a good time to do something very significant?(是否曾在生活中遇到过这样的情况:一直在等待一个绝佳时机,去做一件意义非凡的事?)” G“We often tell ourselves that tomorrow will be better than today.(我们常常告诉自己明天会比今天好)”进一步阐述了人们等待合适时机时的心理,符合语境。故选G。 【37题详解】 根据下文“It is a popular practice around the world, as many assume a good starting date is the ideal time for change. Yet, within weeks or some months, these promises are off the table. Why? It’s not the date that matters. It’s the mindset that there is a perfect time to begin.(这在世界各地都是一种普遍的做法,因为许多人认为一个好的起始日期是做出改变的理想时机。 重要的并非日期,而是认为存在一个完美开端的这种心态)”中的“these promises are off the table”以及“a good starting date is the ideal time for change”,并结合常识,新年决心通常是人们在新的一年开始时许下的承诺,且新年是一个新的开始日期。选项B“New Year’s resolutions are a perfect example.(新年决心就是一个很好的例子)”符合语境,引出下文对这种等待合适时机开始做事却常失败的例子阐述。故选B。 【38题详解】 上文“Often, the search for the perfect time is about feeling ready. We tell ourselves we’ll start when we’re more motivated, better prepared, or less busy.(通常,寻找完美时机往往是为了让自己感觉 “准备好了”。 D“But life rarely provides a perfect set of circumstances.(但生活很少提供完美的环境)”起到承上启下的作用,符合语境。故选D。 【39题详解】 上文“Start that exercise routine with a ten-minute walk. 【40题详解】 根据下文“It’s this very moment, right here, right now. And as you move forward, you’ll find things fall into place as it’s meant to be.(就是此时此刻,就在这里,就是现在。 E“The perfect time for it isn’t some distant day in the future.(合适的时机不是未来某个遥远的日子)”与之相呼应,表明不要等待未来的完美时机,现在就行动。 photographer“摄影师”;teacher“老师”;leader“领导”。故选A。 42. 根据后半句“my paintings were never the most beautiful”可知,作者想成为画家但画得不好,推测作者会感到灰心沮丧,B项discouraged“灰心的”符合题意。delighted“高兴的”;crazy“疯狂的”;excellent“卓越的”。故选B。 43. burn“燃烧”;cancel“取消”;sell“卖”。故选A。 44. funny“滑稽的”;enjoyable“令人愉快的”;colorful“多彩的”。故选D。 45. step over“跨过”;knock over“打翻”;bend over“俯身”。故选D。 46. believe“相信”;like“喜欢”;master“掌握”。故选D。 47. 根据下文“whatever was in front of them and around them”以及“never saw myself or my art in their work”可知,作者认为学校教的大画家们的艺术绘画都是与自己不太相关的,他们的绘画元素(white people, green pastures)与作者周围的世界不相符,此处作者表达了不满的情绪。 always doing“没完没了地……,老是……” sometimes“有时”;never“从不”;usually“经常”。故选C。 48. since“自从”;even“甚至”;unless“除非”。故选B。 49. question“疑问”;operation“运作”;function“功能”。故选A。 50. carefully“小心地”;absolutely“绝对地”;obviously“明显地”。故选C。 51. 根据下文“I explained to her this feeling and she told me”可以看出,两人应该是进行了交谈,B项conversation“谈话”符合题意。deal“交易”;favor“帮助”;play“戏剧”。故选B。 52. 根据上文“direct that towards something productive”和下文“into art, into a painting”可知,作者把痛苦这种能量引入到艺术和绘画中。 look“看”;get“得到”;break“打破”。故选D。 54. speak“说”;organize“组织”;test“测试”。故选A。 55. copy“效仿”;throw“扔”;apply“使用”。故选D。 56. popularity 57. have become 58. which 59. typically 60. to 61. providing 62. to promote 63. largest 64. the 65. were produced 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 根据空前的定冠词 “the” 可知,此处应填名词,“popular”的名词形式是“popularity”,“due to the popularity of...” 根据时间状语“in recent years”,句子要用现在完成时,其结构为 “have/has + 过去分词”,主语“Younger generations”是复数,所以用“have become”。故填have become。 分析句子结构可知,此处是一个非限制性定语从句,先行词是“the domestic market size of micro-dramas reached 37.39 billion yuan ($5.31 billion) last year”这件事,关系词在从句中作主语,指物,所以用“which”引导。故填which。 “range from...to...” 故填to。 “a way to do sth.” 故填to promote。 “in the whole world”是固定短语,意为“在全世界”,所以此处填 “the”。故填the。 故填were produced。 A Chinese Calligraphy Competition To carry forward traditional Chinese culture, a Chinese calligraphy competition was held at our school hall last Sunday. As scheduled, all participants gathered there at 8:30 pm. Plenty of participants created marvelous works on the spot within an hour, showing beautiful structures and various styles of Chinese characters. After cautious selection of the judges, ten pieces stood out and were displayed on the exhibition board which gave us a unique visual feast. Max began to smile more and even participate in class discussions. His classmates observed that Max was no longer the quiet boy who kept to himself but someone who had found a bit of confidence. Max realized that like his plant, he needed care and attention. He joined the school’s gardening club, where he could meet others who shared his interest. The club members welcomed him warmly, and Max slowly became friends with them. His confidence grew, much like the plant that thrived under his careful attention. One afternoon, the school principal announced a gardening competition. Max’s eyes lit up at the announcement. He entered the competition with his once struggling plant, now blooming beautifully. The judges were impressed by his dedication and the transformation of the plant. When the results were announced, Max won first place. The applause from his classmates echoed in his ears, and for the first time, Max felt truly seen and appreciated. The plant had not only grown but had also helped Max bloom, teaching him that with a little love and care, anyone could find their place in the sun. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 参加:participate in/take part in ② 观察:observe/watch ③意识到:realize/be aware 情绪类 ① 热情地:warmly/enthusiastically ② 欣赏:appreciate/admire/enjoy 【点睛】【高分句型1】He joined the school’s gardening club, where he could meet others who shared his interest.(运用了where引导的非限制性定语从句,who引导的限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】When the results were announced, Max won first place.(运用了When引导的时间状语从句) 听力录音原文 Text 1 买草莓 M: Excuse me. M: I want to start my own business. M: ⑯Today is December 20th. Your birthday is just 3 days away. W: ⑯Yeah. To be honest, I’m not looking forward to my birthday. I even feel a little sad. M: You’re suffering from “birthday blues”. W: ⑭What is “birthday blues”? M: ⑭Well, it refers to a feeling of sadness people experience around or on their birthday. The fear of aging is the main reason. For example, in the TV series Friends, the character Rachel does not want to celebrate her 30th birthday just because of “birthday blues”. W: Then how can I get rid of “birthday blues”? M: I’ve had “birthday blues” before. My solution is to celebrate birthdays in a meaningful way. I’m shy, so I don’t like to come to others’ notice. ⑮Therefore, I gave up holding a birthday party last year. I just invited my friends to volunteer with me at an animal shelter. W: That’s inspiring. ⑯Now I know how to celebrate my birthday. I’ll have a yard sale on that day and donate the money to the local nursing home. M: I can help you on that day. W: Thank you! ⑰You’re always ready to offer help. M: ⑱Will there ever be another Harry Potter? Between 1997 and 2007, it seemed like every child was reading J.K. Rowling’s timeless fantasy novels about a teenager’s adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Kids worldwide spent long hours reading the thick books three, four, or more times. But since digital reading began replacing print reading, the rate of children who read for fun has fallen. Digital texts, such as social media chats and blogs, tend to be much shorter and have worse linguistic quality compared to printed works. ⑲“The physical characteristics of a book—the smell, the look and the feel—can make reading more enjoyable,” said Naomi S. Baron, a professor at American University. Lastly, when people read content on digital sources, social media can make them less focused. ⑳In a recent study of undergraduates at West Virginia University, 67% admitted checking social media often while reading. Over half of respondents said that social media negatively impacted their reading habits, while 45% said it had a neutral effect and 2.5% said it had a positive effect. How I miss the sunny summer and the mild autumn!
