Why do we go to all the trouble of designing and building a drone (无人驾驶飞机) if nature has already done most of the job for us? That is the attitude taken by some researchers who are trying to use roaches (蟑螂).
The first roach goes back to 1997, when a university in Tokyo sent electrical signals to a roach’s antenna (触角). It turned either left or right depending on which antenna was given the signal. Then researchers began to let roaches do a useful job with some instruments, searching people in difficult places.
In Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, Dr. Sato has been working on roaches for 15 years. He has added something to roaches. Roaches can run according to the order received directly by sensors in their backpacks. There are often two sensors, a camera and some other things in the packs.
The roach moves its way through while searching for signs of life, such as movement, body heat and higher CO2 levels from breathing. Then it can decide whether a set of signals really show there is a human being. If it has found someone, it gives off a signal at once.
To test this, Dr. Sato and his team had many tries. As a result, the roach is able to find humans mostly. Of course there is still something to be improved. If all goes well, Dr. Sato is sure that roaches could be really for practical use in five years.
“sensor” is an instrument which reacts to certain physical conditions or impressions such as heat or light, and which is used to provide information.
21. ________ of the roach received the signal to turn left or right.
A. The brain B. The feet C. The shoulder D. The antenna

Success is often considered to be the opposite of failure. For teenagers, it is the achievement of a goal or completion of something they really need, such as good grades and the ability to get along well with their classmates. Some schools used to approve of most parents who measured (衡量) the success of their children according to grades, but now they pay special attention to moral (道德的) education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building good personal relationships.
Schools give chances to students to discover their hidden abilities so that they can all enjoy different forms of success. For example, those who are good at speaking skills are advised to take part in speech competitions, and those who are interested in the arts are expected to perform in front of their classmates. Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.
Teenagers are often told that success is not easy to achieve and that success lies in hard work. Great efforts have to be put into project work. Then, doing things much later than planned should be avoided because this will lead to a mountain of work, which will possibly make them nervous. Another good quality (品质) is a sense of responsibility which will help them remember that a task has to be completed.
Sticking to moral values is the key to success too. Honest teenagers will win the trust of friends which will lead to having good relationships. Self-motivation (自我激励) is another quality to be developed, for self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will and drive to perform a duty and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.
24. The underlined words “approve of” probably mean “________” in the passage.
A. shout to B. care about C. agree with D. look for
25. What’s the main idea of the second paragraph?
A. All students should be measured according to study grades.
B. Students should pay more attention to their speaking skills.
C. Art ability should be found in every student from now on.
D. Different students can have different forms of success.
26. ________ good qualities are advised by the writer in the third paragraph?
A. Five B. Four C. Three D. Two
27. What is the best title of the passage?
A. Self-believe and you will succeed B. Good qualities can produce success

26. ________ good qualities are advised by the writer in the third paragraph?
