Do you have a good memory? Can you remember English words you learned last week? Or have you forgotten the deadline of your project? Many of us often say “My brain doesn’t work well”. Maybe you can try a new way of training your brain—to learn with your team members.
“Teamwork makes our brains work better,” the memory expert, Jonathan Hancock said. “Being part of a team has many benefits for remembering things.” In his memory research, he finds that the participants (参与者) in a team always behave better than people who work independently. That’s because they have less personal pressure and more time to think over each question.
But there’s even more going on according to Australian researchers who’ve shown that our brains get a natural improvement when they’ve got company (陪伴). Their study suggests two reasons. First, when we’re with people who are trying to remember something. We can easily feel that tip-of-the-tongue feeling so we also want to join in to challenge ourselves. Second, after knowing others can remember things well, we can be encouraged to make it too.
To make better use of the power of team learning, you can use the contagion (传染效应) to awaken and improve memories. For example, go over new words together with your partners. Believe it or not, you’ll be amazed at your magic memory. Moreover, you can share the duty together. If you have many tasks to remember, ask your partner to remember the date of the school play while you’re in charge of remembering the project deadline. In this way, both of you will remember things more easily and deeply.
4. How does Jonathan Hancock support his opinion in Paragraph 2?
A. By doing research. B. By giving an example.
C. By providing a form. D. By listing numbers.
5. Which of the following situations matches “tip-of-the-tongue feeling” best?
A. You bite your tongue and lose words.
B. You lose the control of the tip of your tongue.
C. You come up with an answer and express it quickly.
D. You think of something but can’t find a word to express it well.
6. What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. Ideas of learning new English words. B. Ways of sharing memory duty with partners.
C. Advice on improving memories by teamwork. D. Research about remembering the project deadline.
7. What is the writer’s purpose in writing the passage?
A. To introduce the results of some memory research.
B. To encourage people to use their brains more often.
C. To invite readers to take part in their research to train brains.
D. To ask readers to make use of teamwork to improve memories.

In 1845, a terrible disease struck the farms of Ireland, killing all the Lumper potato plants. The death of a single crop species (物种) might not seem so important. But in Ireland, in 1845, people depended almost all on the potato for food. The death of one species caused hundreds and thousands of people’s lives. Now scientists are worried that such a similar thing will happen again and cause panic across the world wide.
Over the centuries, farmers have discovered thousands of different species of food crops. Each species has special qualities. Some can be grown in very hot or cold weather condition. Others are not influenced by certain diseases. However, you won’t find many of these species in your local supermarket. To feed the seven billion people on earth, most farmers today are growing only species of plants that are easy to produce in large numbers. At the same time, thousands of other species are dying out. For example, in the Philippines there were once thousands of varieties of rice; now fewer than 100 are grown there. In China, 90 percent of the wheat varieties grown just a century ago have disappeared.
One solution to this problem is to collect and preserve the seeds of as many different plant varieties as we can before they disappear. This idea was first suggested by Russian scientist Nikolay Vavilov. In the 1920s and 1930s, he collected around 400,000 seeds from five continents. More recently, others have continued the work he began. There are now around 1,700 seed banks in countries around the world.
_______. In the U.S. State of lowa, Dane Ott Whealy and her husband founded heritage farm—place where people can store and trade seeds. At first, she just wanted to offer protection over the seeds, like what her great grandfather did in the past, who brought seeds to the US over a hundred years ago. But as time goes by, people were no longer satisfied with it, they even planted the seeds. By doing this, they are reintroducing foods into the marketplace that haven’t been grown for years. These food species are not just special in terms of appearance or taste, they also offer farmers food solutions for the future, from the past.
8. Why does the writer mention what happened in Ireland in 1845?
A. To tell us the importance of the potato crop for the Irish.
B. To tell us a fact in history so as to catch readers attention.
C. To tell us people should not depend all on the potato crop.
D. To tell the death of a great number of people is so terrible.
9. Both of the examples of China and Philippines are used to _________.
A. show farmers have discovered thousands of different species of food crops
B. show food crops can be grown in either very hot or cold weather condition
C. tell us the food crops are more powerful than we thought them used to be
D. tell us some food crops are dying out is actually the result of human choice
10. Which of the following can be put in the blank ________?
A. The seeds bank is also very popular in the US.
B. Many people offer to help keep the idea alive.
C. Another solution is worked out by an American couple.
D An American couple founded a new kind of seed farm.
11. Which of the following statement is correct?
A. The scientists are worried that people are short of food across the world
B. Many food crops are dying out because they can’t be produced quickly.
C. Few people agreed with what Nikolay Vavilov did to save more seeds.
D. It is just enough to store and trade seeds to stop them from dying out.

① When people are still surprised by the super power of Chat-apt, the Deep Seek has already become the hottest word across the world, becoming the leading app downloaded by the most users. In 2021, 80% of the companies have something to do with AI. In 2025, the number of companies using AI will grow by 270%. 51% of the companies have decided to deepen their use of AI.
② The rapid spread of AI has left people wondering: Besides those companies, who is the most likely to take AI into their daily lives? Many suppose those who understand how AI works—who are most likely to welcome it. Surprisingly, our new research, published in the Journal of Marketing, finds the opposite. People with less knowledge about AI are actually more open to using the technology. In other words, people are more likely to show interest in things that they don’t know very well.
③ The reason behind this lies in how AI now performs tasks we once thought only humans could do. When AI create a piece of art, write a heartfelt reply, or plays a musical instrument, it can feel almost magical—like it’s stepping into human field.
④ of course, AI doesn’t actually have human qualities. A chatbot might produce a human-like answer, but it doesn't feel what we humans feel. People with more technical knowledge about AI understand this. They know how algorithms (算法), training data (训练数据), and computer models work. This makes the technology less mysterious. On the other hand, those with less understanding, especially the young, may see AI as magical and inspiring. We suggest this sense of magic makes them more open to using AI tools.
⑤ This finding offers new insights into why people act so differently to the new technologies. Some studies suggest consumers enjoy the new tech, which is called “algorithm appreciation,” while others show doubts, or they don’t see its “magicalness” as a key reason shaping these reactions (反应).
⑥ To make the most of AI’s potential, businesses, teachers and policymakers need to strike this balance. By understanding how the idea of “magicalness” shape people’s openness to AI, we can help develop and use new AI-based products and services that take the way people view AI into account, and help them understand the benefits and risks of AI. And under a perfect situation, people can not only enjoy the fantasy brought about by the artificial intelligence, like the super mathematical ability, but also admire the magicalness it is born with.
12. How does the writer show the popularity of AI?
A. By giving an example B. By listing numbers
C. By creating a picture D. By asking a question
13. Who will download Deep Seek to use it according to the new research?
A. John, a student studying computer science in the college.
B. Daisy, a girl who is open to new ideas working at home.
C. St eve, an old man who has just recently got a new phone.
D. Tony, an office worker who knows the training data well.
14. What does the underlined word mysterious mean?
A. frightening B. understandable C. magic D. special
15. What is the right structure of the passage?
A. ①②/③④⑤⑥ B. ①②/③④/⑤⑥ C. ①②/③④⑤/⑥ D. ①/②③④⑤/⑥

D. An American couple founded a new kind of seed farm.

A. ①②/③④⑤⑥ B. ①②/③④/⑤⑥ C. ①②/③④⑤/⑥ D. ①/②③④⑤/⑥
【答案】12. B 13. B 14. C 15. B

故填is picked。
【53题详解】
句意:这个智能机器人是由浙江的一所大学开发的。根据“This smart robot is developed by…University in Zhejiang.”的语境可知,此处表示泛指的含义,University是以辅音音素开头的单词,用a。故填a。

句意:尽管机器人已经加入进来,但采茶仍然是茶业发展的一大挑战。根据“…the robots have joined in, tea picking is still a big challenge for the development of the tea industry”的语境可知,此处句意发生了转折,although/though“尽管”,引导让步状语从句,句首首字母大写。故填Although/Though。

【答案】例文:
Hi, everyone! I’d like to share my communication habits.
I always say “thank you” and “sorry” in daily life. For example, I say “thank you” to the bus driver or to any kind friend to express gratitude, and I say “sorry” whenever I cause inconvenience. These small words show respect and help me get along well with people around me. Thanks to these polite habits, I have made more friends and learned to appreciate others’ kindness. They also make me feel more confident when I talk to different people.
