由第一段“The UK is filled with unbelievable palaces and historic castles. Now you can take 360 degree virtual tours of the attractions by just clicking(点击)your mouse at home”(英国到处都是令人难以置信的宫殿和历史悠久的城堡。
由最后一段“You can also zoom in (拉近)or out to get an idea of the museums and interesting places to explore, as well as 3D models of the castle”可知游客不仅可以通过镜头了解城堡,也可以通过城堡的3D模型深入了解博物馆,探索城堡里有趣的地方。
B
I’d spent decades telling my girls that their bodies were a means to a long and satisfactory life, not objects to be admired because of how they look. I told them that good health and the energy to enjoy life should be their ultimate(最终的)goals, not fitting into society’s preconceived ideas of what is beautiful.
This year I’m sixty years old. I appear much older than before. This aging body of mine is not the one I expected to have. Looking at the old, fat, wrinkled woman in the mirror, I begin to complain about it. I’ve actually spent a lifetime focusing on my flaws, constantly complaining(抱怨)about my less-than-perfect self. As I was complaining yet again, my younger daughter told me, “Mom, stop. Stop putting yourself down. This is the body you live in now. It’s beautiful because it’s yours.” If I’m unwilling to accept my aging self with grace and dignity(尊严;自尊), how can I possibly expect my girls to do the same when they face these same physical changes?
And then, I learned that a friend of mine, the same age as me, died. At her funeral, her three heartbroken daughters spoke of their mother’s devotion, wisdom, and compassion(同情心). They never said a single word about her appearance though her body had melted away during her last months. It didn’t matter. I left that funeral desperate to hold my own girls in my arms, to kiss them and tell them how much they mean to me, and to promise that I will do better, be better—for them as well as for myself.
And so, to honour the memory of my dear friend and to set a good example to my beloved girls, I promise to love my aging body, and celebrate the gift of being alive.
4. What can we learn about the author from the first two paragraphs?
A. She was unaware of her words’ effects. B. She was more of a talker than a doer.
C. She was unwilling to accept others’ advice. D. She forgot to listen to her own advice.
5. What does the underlined word “flaws” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Treasures. B. Advantages. C. Imperfections. D. Appearances.
6. What did the death of the author’s friend make her aware of?
A. Action speaks louder than words. B. Beauty comes from the depths of the soul.
C. Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. D. Lies can never change facts.
7. What can be the best title for the text?
A. Running through Life B. Rebuilding Your Life
C. Remembering to Respect Others. D. Finding Beauty in Ourselves
D 5. C 6. B 7. D
第一段交代了作者对女儿们的忠告,第二段描述了作者因年老在外貌上发生的变化而不停的抱怨,结合第二段最后一句“If I’m unwilling to accept my aging self with grace and dignity(尊严;自尊), how can I possibly expect my girls to do the same when they face these same physical changes?(如果我不愿意优雅而有尊严地接受自己变老的事实,我又怎么能期望我的女儿们在面对同样的身体变化时也能如此呢?)”
根据第三段第一句“And then, I learned that a friend of mine, the same age as me, died. At her funeral, her three heartbroken daughters spoke of their mother's devotion, wisdom, and compassion. (然后,我得知我的一个朋友,和我同龄,去世了。在她的葬礼上,她的三个伤心的女儿谈到了她们母亲的奉献、智慧和同情心)”可知,作者朋友的女儿们指提到了母亲高尚的品格,而对外貌只字未提,作者通过朋友的死明白了美来自灵魂的深处。故选B。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。朋友的去世使作者意识到了真正的美源自灵魂深处,不应注重外表的不完美,结合最后一段“And so, to honour the memory of my dear friend and to set a good example to my beloved girls, I promise to love my aging body, and celebrate the gift of being alive.(因此,为了纪念我亲爱的朋友,也为我心爱的女儿们树立一个好榜样,我承诺去热爱自己变老的身体,庆祝这份活着的礼物)”可知,“Finding Beauty in Ourselves(发现自身的美)”适合作为文章标题。故选D。
C
There is an ancient Chinese story about a giant man named Kua Fu who chases the sun. He drains (喝干) the Yellow and Wei rivers during his race and finally dies of dehydration(脱水). His failure has reminded people of the unstoppable power of the sun for centuries. And yet, scientists throughout history have tried to better understand the most important star in our sky. On Aug 12, 2018, NASA launched the Parker Solar Probe(探测器), marking the start of its trip to the sun.
The probe itself is almost as big as a car and needed the help of a powerful rocket to escape Earth's orbit, change direction and reach the sun. In order to reach the sun, the probe must complete seven flight of Venus, using the power of the planet's gravity to change its path, sending it toward the sun. But that's not the only difficult part of the journey. As the probe approaches the sun's corona(日冕), it will have to bear temperatures reaching 1,400 C, as well as deal with serious radiation. So how will the probe survive?
According to NASA, a special shield (保护罩) has been used, which is a special 11.5 cm-thick carbon-composite shield that will be positioned between the probe and the sun's corona. Its advanced technology like this will make the probe's trip to the sun much smoother. If everything goes as planned, the probe will reach a speed of 692,018 kilometers per hour as it orbits the sun, setting a new record for the fastest man-made object in history, NBC noted. It will fly close to the sun 24 times between 2018 and 2025, NBC added.
The "mission to touch the sun" will "not only make history by answering questions that have puzzled scientists for decades, but it may also lead to the discovery of new phenomena that are completely unknown to us now," Raouafi told Discovery Magazine. "This mission has the potential to push solar research into a new direction," he added.
8. What does "it" underlined in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. A powerful rocket. B. The probe.
C. Venus. D. The planet's gravity.
9. What do we know about the Parker Solar Probe?
A It’s the fastest probe ever designed.
B. It has an 11.5-inch-thick shield.
C. It was designed to carry a powerful rocket.
D. It’s twice the size of a car.
10. The probe will meet the challenges except ________.
A. the route to the sun B. the heat near the sun
C. the distance to the sun D. the radiation from the sun
11. What’s the main purpose of the last paragraph?
A. To stress the importance of advanced technology.
B. To prove the mission is the greatest move in human history.
C. To suggest there is a long way to go in solar exploration.
D. To show the mission will fill a gap in solar research.
B 9. A 10. C 11. D

If everything goes as planned, the probe will reach a speed of 692,018 kilometers per hour as it orbits the sun, setting a new record for the fastest man-made object in history, NBC noted.
根据第二段的the probe must complete seven flight of Venus, using the power of the planet's gravity to change its path和As the probe approaches the sun's corona(日冕), it will have to bear temperatures reaching 1,400 C, as well as deal with serious radiation.
This mission has the potential to push solar research into a new direction.
D
According to a study published in the journal Science on Friday, Chinese scientists used carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and electricity to create starch (淀粉), a type of complex carbohydrate (碳水化合物) found in plants. This new method allows the production of starch from carbon dioxide with an efficiency 8.5 times higher than the biosynthesis (生物合成) of starch in corn.
Experts believe that if this technique can be scaled up to the level of industrialization, it could revolutionize how this key nutrient and industrial ingredient is produced because it does not require farming and processing large quantities of starchy crops like sweet potato and corn, saving more water, fertilizer, and farming land.
It could also be used to convert carbon dioxide, a common industrial waste and greenhouse gas, into a consumable product. This will aid in reducing carbon emissions and preventing climate change, especially if the electricity used is generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind.
It may provide a sustainable food source for astronauts as they travel long distances in space and attempt to colonize other planets where growing food is impractical. Future space travelers may simply convert the carbon dioxide they expel into food.
According to Ma Yanhe, director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, starch and other complex carbs account for 60 to 80 percent of the human diet.
“Our breakthrough demonstrates that synthesizing (合成) complex compound like starch is achievable in a lab, and there are many industries that can benefit from this technology.” he said.
12. Which is not a potential benefit if the technique can be used on an industrial level?
A. It will have a positive influence on climate change
B. It will generate renewable resources such as solar and wind
C. It will offer a practical food solution for astronauts
D. It will help save several sources from water to farming land
13. The underlined word in paragraph 3 can be best replaced by ________
A. transform B. transfer
C. build D. make
14. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. Starch , an important complex carbohydrate
B. The great benefits of starch
C. Chinese scientists successfully turn carbon dioxide into starch
D. Chinese scientists make contributions to climate change
15. What does the following paragraph will talk about ?
A. The process of synthesizing(合成) starch in a lab
B. Industries that can take good advantage of this technology
C. The biosynthesis(生物合成) of starch in corn
D. Starch plays an important role in human diet
B 13. A 14. C 15.

A. It’s the fastest probe ever designed.

It could also be used to convert carbon dioxide a common industrial waste and greenhouse gas, into a consumable product.
