A
When it comes to food, you really can have too much of a good thing. These foods can be healthy, but only when you don’t overdo it.
Nuts
Nuts are an extraordinary source of healthy fats, which can be beneficial for maintaining a healthy heart. Despite the benefits, nuts are so percent fat and high in calories. Adding a few handfuls to your daily diet to replace unhealthy fats is ideal, but do not cat too much.
Cheese
Cheese (along with most dairy products) is a good source of calcium (钙) and protein (蛋白质), which can advance healthy bone development and heart strength. However, eating too much cheese is harmful to your health and actually cancels out any health benefits. And remember to select varieties that are lower in sodium and fat.
Bottled Green Juices
All-natural green juices are a healthy way to get the daily doses (剂量) of fruit and vegetables that most of us forget about. However, most bottled green juices are extraordinarily high in sugar, which can take away the health benefits that natural versions promise. When selecting a juice, make sure to keep an eye on the amount of sugar in each.
1. What do nuts and cheese have in common?
A. Both are high in calories. B. Both are good for heart.
C. Both are helpful in weight loss. D. Both are popular snacks.
2. What might be the main concern about bottled green juices according to the text?
A. They are not fresh. B. They are expensive.
C. They are not natural. D. They are high in sugar.
3. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To introduce healthy foods. B. To guide food selection.
C. To warn of overeating risks. D. To compare food benefits.
根据Nuts部分“Nuts are an extraordinary source of healthy fats, which can be beneficial for maintaining a healthy heart.(坚果是健康脂肪的重要来源,对保持心脏健康有益。)”和Cheese部分“Cheese (along with most dairy products) is a good source of calcium (钙) and protein (蛋白质), which can advance healthy bone development and heart strength.(奶酪(以及大多数乳制品)是钙和蛋白质的良好来源,可以促进骨骼健康发育和心脏力量。)”
根据Bottled Green Juices部分“However, most bottled green juices are extraordinarily high in sugar, which can take away the health benefits that natural versions promise.(然而,大多数瓶装绿色果汁含糖量极高,这可能会带走天然果汁所承诺的健康益处。)”
通读全文,尤其是第一段“When it comes to food, you really can have too much of a good thing. These foods can be healthy, but only when you don’t overdo it.(说到食物,你真的可以吃太多好东西。这些食物是健康的,但前提是你不要吃太多。)”可知,本文主要讲的是关于食物摄入量的适度原则,即使某些食物本身很健康,过量摄入也会带来负面影响,因此本文的主要目的是警告吃太多的风险。故选C。
B
Hi there! My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. Over the years I tried every diet you could think of. I tried personal trainers and fitness camps. The result was always the same — I’ d lose 30-50 pounds; then gain back 40 pounds. I tried C25K (Couch to 5K) so many times because my husband enjoyed running and I tried to like it as well. I hated it and couldn’t help but be reminded of my school days and collecting popsicle (冰棒) sticks for each circle (I was always last).
More time went by and the only activity I could bring myself to do in public was Zumba. February 2017 was a game-changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees (立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health. (At this time I was 280 pounds.) After losing 15 pounds, I decided to give C25K one more shot (after more than a dozen failed times).
In June 2017, I ran for five minutes without stopping. By the end of July I ran my first mile. Reaching the mile was huge in my world because I had built up a mile as if it were a marathon. By December 2017, I completed C25K successfully! A few months later I ran my first race, Texas Ragnar relay. After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down!
After the half marathon, my husband and I were determined to continue running. We kept training for no event in particular. We needed more support for what we were planning — a full marathon.
4. What might C25K be?
A. A fitness course. B. A marathon event.
C. A school game. D. A running program.
5. What made the author determined to restart running?
A. Her husband’s advice. B. Her terrible overall health.
C. Her Zumba class experience. D. Her burpee embarrassment.
6. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase in paragraph 3?
A. Fell in love with running. B. Joined a running club.
C. Showed a gift for running. D. Found running partners.
7. Where can the text be read?
A. A lecture for fund-raising. B. A report from a running club.
C. A forum for running stories. D. A speech about running benefits.
D 5. D 6. A 7. C
根据第一段中“I tried C25K (Couch to 5K) so many times because my husband enjoyed running and I tried to like it as well. I hated it and couldn’t help but be reminded of my school days and collecting popsicle (冰棒) sticks for each circle (I was always last). (我多次尝试C25K(从沙发到5公里),因为我丈夫喜欢跑步,我也试图喜欢它。我讨厌它,不禁想起我的学生时代,每跑一圈就收集冰棒棍(我总是最后一名))”和第三段中“By December 2017, I completed C25K successfully!(到2017年12月,我成功完成了C25K!)”可知,C25K与跑步相关,且是一个有过程、可完成的项目。由此可推断C25K是一个跑步计划。故选D项。
【5题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“February 2017 was a game changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees (立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health. (At this time I was 280 pounds.) (2017年2月是我生命中改变游戏规则的时刻。在孩子们学校活动中,在一群人面前做立卧撑的尴尬时刻过后,我突然开窍了。第二天,我问我丈夫是否愿意和我一起解决我的健康问题。(这时我体重280磅))”可知,是做立卧撑的尴尬经历让作者决定重新开始跑步。故选D项。
【6题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线短语所在句“After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down!(在那之后,我完成了我的第一个半程马拉松。我caught the running bug,到7月我达到了一个巨大的里程碑——减重100磅!)”以及前文作者成功完成跑步相关项目,且之后继续坚持跑步可推知,“caught the running bug”意思是爱上了跑步,所以完成了减肥目标,与“Fell in love with running”同义。故选A项。
My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. Over the years I tried every diet you could think of.(大家好!我叫艾丽卡。我从八岁起就一直在与体重作斗争。在我的巅峰时期,我重达320磅。多年来,我尝试了你能想到的每一种饮食)”和后文内容可知,作者讲述了自己尝试各种减肥方法失败,但在因为一次尴尬经历后重新开始跑步,并逐步取得进步,完成跑步项目,成功减重100磅的故事。整篇文章围绕个人减重故事展开。这更适合在一个分享跑步故事的论坛上呈现。故选C项。
C
I don’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have Laura.
Our houses were down the road from each other. From my earliest memory, I would walk the path to hers, and she would walk it to mine. If we timed it right, we’d meet somewhere in the middle. We didn’t have cell phones back then, and I don’t remember calling each other much on the house phones either. We’d just show up.
Most of my childhood memories are with Laura. We wrote secret notes and left them in trees to rediscover later and we’d name fishes at the pond. Occasionally we would disagree, and one of us would walk home, but we’d always show up again a few hours later. The beauty of childhood friendships, of course, is that we are completely ourselves in them. I didn’t need to dress a certain way for Laura; she didn’t need to agree on everything. If one of us was tired, we would say so. If one of us didn’t feel like talking for a while, we didn’t. It was all quite simple.
As adults, friendships can be more complicated than they were in childhood. We have to consider how our words and behaviors affect others. If you are an over-thinker like me, an evening of socializing might end with a series of thoughts: Should I have said that? Did I take that the wrong way? Why didn’t I say that differently? Those thoughts, although necessary at times, can also be tiring.
If I take a step back and learn from my friendship with Laura, I can remind myself that friendships are not about being perfect but about being real. There’s something magical about those childhood friendships. There is something special about them that is beyond just nostalgia (怀旧). Perhaps that something is the truthfulness of it.
8. What is the key to her friendship with Laura according to the author?
A. Being themselves. B. Agreeing on everything.
C. Sharing similar interests. D. Communicating regularly.
9. What does the author think of adult friendships?
A. They are long-lasting. B. They can lead to overthinking.
C. They are more realistic. D. They can bring new thoughts.
10. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. Childhood friendships are worth remembering.
B. Being real plays an important role in friendships.
C. Nostalgia adds to the magic of childhood friendships.
D. Friendships are only meaningful when they are perfect.
11. What is the text mainly about?
A. What we can learn from childhood friendships.
B. Friendship matters for both children and adults.
C. How childhood friendships develop into adult ones.
D. The differences between childhood and adult friendships.
A 9. B 10. B 11. A
根据第三段中“The beauty of childhood friendships, of course, is that we are completely ourselves in them. I didn’t need to dress a certain way for Laura; she didn’t need to agree on everything. If one of us was tired, we would say so. If one of us didn’t feel like talking for a while, we didn’t. It was all quite simple.(当然,童年友谊的美妙之处在于,在其中我们完全做自己。我不需要为了劳拉而以某种特定的方式穿着;她也不需要在所有事情上都达成一致。如果我们中有一个人累了,我们就会直说。如果我们中有一个人有一阵子不想说话,我们就不说话。一切都很简单)”可知,作者认为与劳拉友谊的关键是做自己。故选A项。
根据第四段“As adults, friendships can be more complicated than they were in childhood. We have to consider how our words and behaviors affect others. If you are an over-thinker like me, an evening of socializing might end with a series of thoughts: Should I have said that? Did I take that the wrong way? Why didn’t I say that differently? Those thoughts, although necessary at times, can also be tiring.(作为成年人,友谊可能比童年时期更复杂。我们必须考虑我们的言语和行为如何影响他人。如果你像我一样是一个过度思考的人,一个晚上的社交活动可能会以一系列的想法结束:我当时应该那样说吗?我是不是理解错了?我为什么不换一种方式说呢?这些想法虽然有时是必要的,但也会让人疲惫)”可知,作者认为成年人的友谊更复杂,我们必须考虑我们的言语和行为如何影响他人,所以会导致过度思考。故选B项。
【10题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“If I take a step back and learn from my friendship with Laura, I can remind myself that friendships are not about being perfect but about being real. There’s something magical about those childhood friendships. There is something special about them that is beyond just nostalgia. Perhaps that something is the truthfulness of it.(如果我退后一步,从与劳拉的友谊中学习,我可以提醒自己,友谊不是追求完美,而是追求真实。那些童年友谊有一种神奇的东西。它们有一些特别之处,不仅仅是怀旧。也许这种特别之处就是它的真实性)”可知,作者认为友谊不是追求完美,而是追求真实,所以暗示真实在友谊中起着重要作用。故选B项。
【11题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合最后一段“If I take a step back and learn from my friendship with Laura, I can remind myself that friendships are not about being perfect but about being real.(如果我退后一步,从与劳拉的友谊中学习,我可以提醒自己,友谊不是追求完美,而是追求真实)”可知,本文主要讲的是我们可以从童年友谊中学到的东西。故选A项。
D
A lone arctic fox walks slowly across a white, treeless tundra, hungry for a meal. She can’t see her prey (猎物) that lives under the snow, but she can hear it. She smells the ground, jumps several feet straight into the air, and dives (潜入) into the snow, nose first. For a moment, her upside-down body is frozen in mid-air. Then she rights herself, her prey captured. Until spring arrives this arctic fox will rely on many cold-weather strategies to survive in the frozen tundra.
Foxes are smart, storing extra food under rocks for later or following polar bears to eat the leftovers from their kill. They are fast, running up to 30 miles per hour. And they are cute. The fox’s beautiful white coat acts as camouflage in the winter, while its gray fur matches the tundra’s rocks and plants in the summer. When it sleeps, it wraps its long, fluffy tail around its body like a blanket (毯子) and an extra layer of fur on its broad paws allows it to walk quietly on ice and snow.
Cuteness aside, the arctic fox is a hardy survivor, able to withstand extremely cold Arctic temperatures. Its thick fur is the best at keeping it warm, maintaining a comfortable body temperature of 40℃. It has excellent hearing and a sharp sense of smell that can sense a dead body left by a polar bear from as far as 24 miles away.
In general, the arctic fox is considered a species of “least concern” around the coldest parts of the Arctic. However, in Norway, Sweden, and Finland its population is severely endangered, numbering less than 200. Climate change is thought to be the main cause. With warmer temperatures, there is less snow cover, so the arctic fox’s light-colored fur doesn’t help it match its surroundings as well. The larger red fox is outcompeting the arctic fox, because it has a more varied diet; the red fox can eat human waste it finds along mountain roads. Also, insects that are now surviving farther north are eating the plants in the tundra, which affects the fox’s habitat and limits the numbers and types of animals they can cat.
12. Which word can best explain the underlined “camouflage” in paragraph 2?
A. Hiding. B. Attraction. C. A blanket. D. A tool.
13. What does paragraph 3 mainly focus on about Arctic foxes?
A. Their appearance. B. Their cleverness.
C. Their survival challenges. D. Their adaptation.
14. How does the climate change affect Arctic foxes’ survival?
A. It forces foxes to seek food in human waste.
B. It increases competition among fox species.
C It causes their fur to become darker in color.
D. It leads to insects taking over foxes’ habitats.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Arctic Fox - King of the Arctic B. Arctic Fox - Cute but of Least Concern
C. Arctic Fox - Small but Powerful D. Arctic Fox - Victim of Climate Change
A 13. D 14. B 15. C
根据第二段“while its gray fur matches the tundra’s rocks and plants in the summer. (而在夏天,它的灰色皮毛与苔原上的岩石和植物相匹配。)”可知,北极狐的皮毛与苔原上的岩石和植物相匹配为了隐藏自己,继而保护自己。因此冬天的皮毛变成白色即雪一样的样色,也是为了隐藏自己。故选A。
根据第三段“Cuteness aside, the arctic fox is a hardy survivor, able to withstand extremely cold Arctic temperatures. Its thick fur is the best at keeping it warm, maintaining a comfortable body temperature of 40℃. It has excellent hearing and a sharp sense of smell that can sense a dead body left by a polar bear from as far as 24 miles away. (除了可爱之外,北极狐是一个坚强的幸存者,能够承受极冷的北极温度。它厚厚的皮毛最能保暖,保持40℃舒适的体温。它有极好的听觉和敏锐的嗅觉,可以在24英里外嗅到北极熊留下的尸体。)”可知本段主要讲述北极狐的适应性。故选D。
【14题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段“However, in Norway, Sweden, and Finland its population is severely endangered, numbering less than 200.
根据第一段“A lone arctic fox walks slowly across a white, treeless tundra, hungry for a meal. (一只孤独的北极狐慢慢地走过一片白茫茫的苔原,饥肠辘辘。)”,第二段“Foxes are smart, storing extra food under rocks for later or following polar bears to eat the leftovers from their kill. (狐狸很聪明,它们会在岩石下储存额外的食物以备后用,或者跟着北极熊吃它们捕杀的剩菜。)”,第三段“Cuteness aside, the arctic fox is a hardy survivor, able to withstand extremely cold Arctic temperatures. (除了可爱之外,北极狐是一个坚强的幸存者,能够承受极冷的北极温度。)”及最后一段“In general, the arctic fox is considered a species of “least concern” around the coldest parts of the Arctic. (般来说,北极狐被认为是北极最寒冷地区“最不受关注”的物种。)”可知,本文主要讲述北极狐这个北极地区的坚强的幸存者,北极狐小巧可爱,但却能在艰苦的环境下,在狐类激烈的竞争下存活下来,因此北极狐是小而生命力强的物种。故选C。
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10 分)

We get along well in our family. However, a recent conflict has arisen between my mom and me.
It all began when I told her I’ d like to study arts, which wasn’t a wise choice for my mom. She strongly opposed, thinking it was too risky. During our heated argument, hurtful words came out before we could stop them. Feeling misunderstood and controlled, I left in anger. Later, realizing her worries were rooted in love, I apologized first and shared my thoughts. Mom also apologized for her previous attitude, giving me her advice as well.

Along the Niger Delta, water hyacinths (水葫芦) are causing great environmental problems. Not only does the plant block waterways and cause problems for local fishermen, it also uses up nutrients (营养) from the water, which in turn reduces fish populations. However, Nigerian businesswoman Achenyo Idachaba saw an opportunity in this challenge. She started harvesting these weeds and turning them into handcrafted products, creating an eco-friendly business.
Making each craft depends on the climate and having enough hands to work. The plants are harvested from local water channels and dried in the sun, which can take from four days to two weeks in the rainy season. Once dry, they are then made into the rope to weave (编) products together.
In addition to creating beautiful woven handicrafts (手工艺品), Idachaba wanted to offer local communities skills and possible business ideas. She now works with eight communities, mostly in the Niger Delta, training and educating people on how to turn this water weed problem into rope for weaving products.
“We help them see the plant in a new way—as something that can become a source of income,” she says. “After we help them with basic training, the rest is left up to their own creativity and we see them use the skills they have learned to turn them into products that we’ve never even mentioned.”
So far, Idachaba has mainly been selling her products online to customers in Nigeria. However, she hopes to take her business further. “We want to see ourselves as the number one maker of eco-friendly handicrafts—that are telling this very unique story about how we have turned Nigeria’s problem of water hyacinth into a beneficial solution.”
52. What environmental problems are caused by water hyacinths in the Niger Delta region?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
53. How should people deal with the plants before making them into handicrafts?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
54. What is Idachaba’s goal to work with local communities?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
55. Why can Idachaba’s approach be considered a win-win solution?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
56. What can we learn from Idachaba?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
52. They block waterways and use up nutrients in water.
53. Dry them in the sun and make them into ropes.
54. She wants to offer them skills and possible business ideas.
55. It’s eco-friendly and makes profits.
56. (A possible version) We can learn from Idachaba the significance of creativity and community empowerment. She has transformed a seemingly problematic environmental issue into a thriving business opportunity by converting harmful water hyacinths into valuable handicrafts. This has inspired local communities to view challenges as opportunities and to develop their own innovative solutions.
根据第一段“Not only does the plant block waterways and cause problems for local fishermen, it also uses up nutrients (营养) from the water, which in turn reduces fish populations.(这种植物不仅堵塞了水道,给当地渔民带来了问题,还消耗了水中的营养物质,从而减少了鱼类数量。)” They block waterways and use up nutrients in water.
根据第二段“The plants are harvested from local water channels and dried in the sun, which can take from four days to two weeks in the rainy season. Once dry, they are then made into the rope to weave (编) products together.(这些植物是从当地的水道中收获的,在阳光下晒干,在雨季可能需要四天到两周的时间。一旦干了,它们就会被制成绳子,把产品编织在一起。)”可知,在将植物制作成手工艺品之前,人们把它们在太阳下晒干,做成绳子。故答案为Dry them in the sun and make them into ropes.
根据第三段“In addition to creating beautiful woven handicrafts (手工艺品), Idachaba wanted to offer local communities skills and possible business ideas.(除了制作精美的编织手工艺品外,Idachaba还希望为当地社区提供技能和可能的商业创意。)” She wants to offer them skills and possible business ideas.
根据倒数第二段“We help them see the plant in a new way—as something that can become a source of income(我们帮助他们以一种新的方式看待这种植物——把它当作一种可以成为收入来源的东西)”可知,Idachaba的方法可以被认为是一个双赢的解决方案是因为它既环保又有利可图。 It’s eco-friendly and makes profits.
根据第三段“She now works with eight communities, mostly in the Niger Delta, training and educating people on how to turn this water weed problem into rope for weaving products.(她现在与八个社区合作,主要在尼日尔三角洲,培训和教育人们如何将水草问题转化为编织产品的绳索。)”和倒数第二段“We help them see the plant in a new way—as something that can become a source of income(我们帮助他们以一种新的方式看待这种植物——把它当作一种可以成为收入来源的东西)”可知,我们可以从Idachaba身上学到创造力和社区赋权的重要性。 We can learn from Idachaba the significance of creativity and community empowerment. She has transformed a seemingly problematic environmental issue into a thriving business opportunity by converting harmful water hyacinths into valuable handicrafts. This has inspired local communities to view challenges as opportunities and to develop their own innovative solutions.

A
When it comes to food, you really can have too much of a good thing.
B

D Friendships are only meaningful when they are perfect.
11. What is the text mainly about?
A. What we can learn from childhood friendships.
B. Friendship matters for both children and adults.
C. How childhood friendships develop into adult ones.
D. The differences between childhood and adult friendships.

A lone arctic fox walks slowly across a white treeless tundra, hungry for a meal.
C. It causes their fur to become darker in color.
