If we looked outside right now, he said, we’d see a beautiful sea of icebergs in the golden sunlight. My sister and I jumped out of bed, staring in amazement as we sailed past giant pieces of ice. In the distance, we spotted a group of humpback whales feeding on smaller fishes. Next door, my parents were also waking up to the sights of a new day in Antarctica. Over breakfast, my sister and I excitedly told them about the whales we saw from our room that morning. You might not immediately think of “family vacation” when talking about a trip to Antarctica, but tour companies like Adventures by Disney are changing that. The company offers guided group trips to destinations across all seven continents in the world. Our adventure started when we flew to Buenos Aires and explored the beautiful Argentine capital for a day. After leaving Buenos Aires, we flew to Ushuaia on an Adventures by Disney plane. Then, it was the journey toward the Drake Passage. After a speedy Drake Passage crossing, we reached Antarctica early, adding a half day to our scheduled four days on and around the continent. To those unfamiliar with Adventures by Disney, the fact that you can experience Antarctica — the most distant, extreme continent — with Disney might be surprising. During the trip, there were thoughtful acts, from stamped postcards to send from an Antarctica post office to a champagne (香槟) party on our final stop of the journey; Adventures by Disney truly thought of everything for us. Antarctica is a life-changing destination packed with experiences that can’t be copied. We experienced seasickness when travelling across the Drake Passage, hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals, and had a taste of champagne. And honestly, it’s going to be hard for the next family trip we may take to compete. 24.How did the author and her sister feel when sailing past the icebergs? A.Terrific. B.Confused. C.Frightened. D.Dangerous. 25.What happened first on the author’s journey? A.They flew to Ushuaia. B.They toured around Buenos Aires. C.They passed through the Drake Passage. D.They hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals. 26.What can we infer about their travel from the last paragraph? A.The author might feel bad when crossing the Drake Passage. B.The author was the most impressed by the champagne party. C.The author believes that their next travel will be more thrilling. D.The author thought an Antarctica post office should be established. 27.Which can serve as the best title for the text? A.Exploring Antarctica — A Place with Various animals B.An Antarctic Adventure for Scientific Research C.A Comfortable Travel Experience D.A Family’s Journey to Antarctica 【答案】24.A 25.B 26.A 27.D 【文本解析】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第一段中“If we looked outside right now, he said, we’d see a beautiful sea of icebergs in the golden sunlight. My sister and I jumped out of bed, staring in amazement as we sailed past giant pieces of ice. (如果我们现在看外面,他说,我们会看到金色阳光下美丽的冰山海洋。我和妹妹从床上跳了起来,惊奇地看着我们驶过一块块巨大的冰块)”可知,在驶过冰山时,两人感觉大为惊奇,棒极了。故选A项。 25. 根据第三段中“Our adventure started when we flew to Buenos Aires and explored the beautiful Argentine capital for a day. (当我们飞到布宜诺斯艾利斯,在美丽的阿根廷首都探索一天时,我们的冒险就开始了)”可知,在这次家庭之旅的一开始,他们游览了布宜诺斯艾利斯。故选B项。 26.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“We experienced seasickness when travelling across the Drake Passage, hiked up ice hills alongside lovely animals, and had a taste of champagne. (我们在穿越德雷克海峡时经历了晕船,和可爱的动物一起爬上了冰山,还品尝了香槟)”可知,在穿越德雷克海峡时,作者一家经历了晕船。由此推知,作者当时感觉很糟糕。故选A项。 27. 通读全文,尤其是最后一段中“And honestly, it’s going to be hard for the next family trip we may take to compete. C In an era dominated by texting and messaging apps, phone calls seem to become a relic (遗物) of the past among younger generations, Gen Z in particular. A recent survey shows that a quarter of 18 to 24-year-olds refuse to pick up the phone, and over half ignore calls from their parents. Why do we find phone calls so awkward, and is avoiding them damaging our relationships? The avoidance of phone calls isn’t just a preference; it’s a display of anxiety. Phone conversations can be awkward due to the lack of non-verbal clues. In face-to-face interactions, we rely heavily on gestures, facial expressions, and body language to interpret messages, which are absent in phone conversations. This can lead to misunderstandings and a feeling of disconnect. Additionally, the pressure to respond immediately without enough time to think, as afforded by messaging apps, can increase the anxiety associated with phone calls. Despite the discomfort they may cause, phone conversations are an important skill. In the professional world, the ability to communicate effectively over the phone remains a critical skill. As I emphasize in my teachings and workshops, clear, confident, and real-life communication can significantly impact personal and professional success. Therefore, it’s crucial for younger generations, including Gen Z, to learn how to communicate well with others over the phone, not just for professional success but also for developing personal relationships. Relying merely on messaging apps can have harmful effects on Gen Z’s well-being and relationships. The survey indicates a growing discomfort with direct voice communication can lead to a lack of deeper, empathetic (共情的) connections. This can potentially impact their ability to form meaningful relationships and deal with situations where direct communication like phone calls is momentous. Moreover, as I advocate in my approach to public speaking, including emotional elements into communication enhances memorability (值得记忆) and impact. Phone conversations, with their immediate and personal nature, can develop a deeper emotional connect ion than text-based communication. 28.What can we know from paragraph 2? A.Why people are making fewer phone calls. B.How young men respond to phone calls. C.What impact can phone calls have. D.How much further phone calls go. 29.Which statement will the author probably agree with? A.Future success is mainly based on phone talks. B.It's vital to acquire the art of phone conversation. C.Learning how to communicate is the focus. D.Much remains to be done for better personal skills. 30.What does the underlined word “momentous” mean in paragraph 4? A.Obvious. B.Important. C.Missing. D.Temporary. 31.Where is the text most probably taken from? A.An interview. B.A book review. C.A lecture. D.A diary entry. 根据第二段“The avoidance of phone calls isn’t just a preference; it’s a display of anxiety. Phone conversations can be awkward due to the lack of non-verbal clues. In face-to-face interactions, we rely heavily on gestures, facial expressions, and body language to interpret messages, which are absent in phone conversations. This can lead to misunderstandings and a feeling of disconnect. Additionally, the pressure to respond immediately without enough time to think, as afforded by messaging apps, can increase the anxiety associated with phone calls.(不打电话不仅仅是一种偏好;这是焦虑的表现。由于缺乏非语言线索,电话交谈可能会很尴尬。在面对面的交流中,我们严重依赖手势、面部表情和肢体语言来解释信息,而这些在电话交谈中是不存在的。这会导致误解和疏离感。此外,即时回复,没有足够的时间去思考的压力,就像信息收发应用所提供的那样,会增加与电话相关的焦虑)”可知,本段主要讲述了人们打电话越来越少的原因,所以从本段可以知道为什么人们打电话越来越少。故选A项。 29. 根据第三段“Despite the discomfort they may cause, phone conversations are an important skill. In the professional world, the ability to communicate effectively over the phone remains a critical skill. As I emphasize in my teachings and workshops, clear, confident, and real-life communication can significantly impact personal and professional success. Therefore, it’s crucial for younger generations, including Gen Z, to learn how to communicate well with others over the phone, not just for professional success but also for developing personal relationships.(尽管打电话可能会带来不适,但它是一项重要的技能。 根据前文“Relying merely on messaging apps can have harmful effects on Gen Z’s well-being and relationships. The survey indicates a growing discomfort with direct voice communication can lead to a lack of deeper, empathetic (共情的) connections.(仅仅依赖信息应用程序可能会对Z世代的健康和人际关系产生有害影响。调查显示,人们对直接语音交流越来越感到不安,这可能导致缺乏更深层次的、有同理心的联系)”可知,这可能会影响他们建立有意义的人际关系和处理电话等直接沟通非常重要的场合的能力,可推知momentous意为“重要的”,和B项意思相近。故选B项。 31.推理判断题。根据第三段“As I emphasize in my teachings and workshops, clear, confident, and real-life communication can significantly impact personal and professional success.(正如我在我的教学和研讨会中强调的那样,清晰、自信和现实生活中的沟通可以显著影响个人和职业的成功)”以及最后一段“Moreover, as I advocate in my approach to public speaking, including emotional elements into communication enhances memorability (值得记忆) and impact.(此外,正如我在公开演讲中所提倡的,在交流中加入情感元素可以增强记忆和影响力)”可知,文章多处提到了作者的教学和研讨会,表明文章很可能来自作者的演讲。故选C项。 D Deep within an Indonesian rainforest, a team of research scientists recorded something: a Sumatran orangutan (红毛猩猩) named Rakus carefully treating a cut on his cheek with a medical plant. “This is the first observation of a wild animal doing so,” said Isabelle Laumer, a primatologist at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Germany. The rainforest surrounding the research center is home to the highest density of Sumatran orangutans. One June morning in 2022, the researchers there observed that Rakus had suffered a wound under his right eye. Because he had wandered outside of the research area, no one witnessed how the injury occurred though the researchers have two hypotheses (假设). One is that Rakus fell from a tree and got hit by a branch. Because Sumatran orangutans spend about 98 percent of their time in trees, they sometimes grab dead or dying branches that can’t hold their weight. The other possibility is that Rakus was wounded during a fight with another Sumatran orangutan. Fights within this region of the rainforest are rare but can occur when males try to establish dominance Regardless of how the injury occurred, the team observed Rakus climbing plants called Akar Kuning, commonly used by humans as treatment for wounds and illnesses like malaria (疟疾). Rakus removed the leaves from the plant and chewed them. He then repeatedly put the liquid he extracted from the plant directly onto his wound. Afterward, he placed a solid part of the leaf over the area. Incredibly, the next day he returned to eat the plant again. Three days later, the wound closed. Within a month, its scar was barely noticeable. “It could be that he was just feeding on the plant and then accidentally touched his wound with the hand that had been touching it and its pain-relieving properties were immediately felt so he applied it to the area again and again,” said Laumer. “This new finding highlights the adaptive intelligence of these animals in natural environment, making us know animal behavior, medicinal plant use, and the potential development of human medicine,” said Ina-Vandebroek, a senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. 32.What phenomenon does the author describe at the beginning of the text? A.Scientists discover a new species. B.The rainforest contains medical plants. C.A Sumatran orangutan treats the wound. D.Wild animals learn to use plants as tools. 33.What is one possible reason for that Rakus’ injury? A.He was attacked by a natural enemy. B.He wandered outside the research area. C.He was hit by his children while playing. D.He fell from a tree and was hurt by a branch. 34.What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A.The magic power of the plant. B.The process of treating the cut. C.The intelligence of using a skill. D.The hard work to produce medicine. 35.How did Rakus learn to master the treatment according to Laumer? A.By happening to find it. B.By learning from others. C.By testing it on his body. D.By applying it repeatedly. 根据第一段“Deep within an Indonesian rainforest, a team of research scientists recorded something: a Sumatran orangutan (红毛猩猩) named Rakus carefully treating a cut on his cheek with a medical plant.(在印度尼西亚热带雨林深处,一组研究科学家记录了一些事情:一只名叫Rakus的苏门答腊猩猩用一种药用植物仔细地治疗脸颊上的伤口)”可知,作者在文章开头描述的是一只苏门答腊猩猩用药用植物治疗伤口的现象。故选C。 33. 根据第三段“One is that Rakus fell from a tree and got hit by a branch. Because Sumatran orangutans spend about 98 percent of their time in trees, they sometimes grab dead or dying branches that can’t hold their weight.(一个是Rakus从树上掉下来被树枝砸中。因为苏门答腊猩猩大约98%的时间都在树上度过,它们有时会抓住无法承受其重量的枯枝或垂死的树枝)”可知,Rakus受伤的一个可能原因是他从树上掉下来,被树枝刮伤。故选D。 34.主旨大意题。根据第四段“Regardless of how the injury occurred, the team observed Rakus climbing plants called Akar Kuning, commonly used by humans as treatment for wounds and illnesses like malaria (疟疾). Liberation from Materialism The confined space of a van encourages a minimalist lifestyle, where experiences are valued over possessions. 37 With minimal monthly expenses, such as parking fees and fuel costs, van dwellers can allocate resources to experiences rather than high rent or house payments. This mobile living is supported by the degrowth movement, which believes that economies should focus on securing the minimal basic needs instead of consumption and consumerism. Exploration and Flexibility The ability to follow adventure wherever it takes you is one of the most amazing aspects of living in a van. You can choose to wake up at dawn over the ocean one day and find yourself in a forested mountainside the next. Living in a van frequently involves being close to the outdoors surrounded by the beauty of nature. 38 Minimal Ecological Footprint 39 They adopt solar panels and efficient water systems , further minimizing their impact on the environment. People who choose to live in mobile homes believe that eventually, global warming and extreme weather might bring an end to sedentary (定居的) living patterns. A retired engineer, 76-year-old Wilson had been offering free rides to college students for the past eight years. Since he first started volunteering his car to the young people, Wilson has covered an astonishing 64,000 miles, and had countless pleasant and often humorous conversation with the students he transported to and from school. The students who he'd driven had gone on to become physicians, teachers and engineers, but what they'd also got out of their time in school was finding a role model and a friend in Wilson. Some students even called him “Grandpa”. Tina Stern received rides from Wilson for all her four years in college, and the trips meant much more to her than just free transportation. “It's not just a ride; you're not just sitting there in awkward silence or with your headphones on.” Stern said. “He asks you questions and actually remembers the answers, so the next time you ride with him, he'll check on those things.” Wilson often went beyond to ensure the welfare and safety of the students. If they had problems with registration, Wilson was there to assist them. If they ran out of certain daily necessities, Wilson would drive to the nearest store and purchase what was needed. For many students, riding with Wilson had allowed them to complete their education—but according to Wilson, he benefited just as much from the experience. “I just love driving, and I love these kids,” Wilson said. “It's such a privilege to be a part of these kids' lives, getting to know them-and hearing their stories." One day, Stern came across Wilson and his wife in the hospital, where she knew Wilson was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease(阿尔兹海默症). 注意: (1)续写词数应为150左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 “He isn't what he used to be,” his wife told Stern. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Stern and other students volunteered to help Wilson. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【范文】 “He isn't what he used to be,” his wife told Stern. "He's still the same kind and caring man, but the disease has taken a toll on his memory." Stern felt a deep sense of sadness and gratitude mingling within her. She couldn't imagine the man who had been such a constant and supportive presence in her life struggling with his own. “I wish there was something I could do,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. Stern and other students volunteered to help Wilson. They organized a schedule to visit him regularly , bringing him homemade meals, reading to him, and sharing stories of their lives since college. They also helped with his medical appointments and errands(差事), ensuring that he and his wife were not alone during this challenging time. It was their way of giving back to the man who had given so much to them. "We're here for you, Grandpa," they would say, echoing the warmth and care he had once shown them. The bond between Wilson and his "adopted" students had become a two-way street of love and support, a testament to the enduring impact of his selfless acts. 续写线索:妻子告知病情——Stern感到悲伤和感激——学生们组织帮助——定期探望——提供帮助——表达关怀 词汇激活 行为类 遭受折磨:suffer from/be afflicted with 组织:organize/arrange 确保:ensure/make sure 情绪类 悲伤:sadness/grief 感激:gratitude/appreciation 【点睛】[高分句型1]. B Bright and early on the morning of our first full day in Antarctica, L’ Austral’s Captain Fabien’s voice woke us up as it came through a loudspeaker. A.Exploring Antarctica — A Place with Various animals B.An Antarctic Adventure for Scientific Research C.A Comfortable Travel Experience D.A Family’s Journey to Antarctica C In an era dominated by texting and messaging apps, phone calls seem to become a relic (遗物) of the past among younger generations, Gen Z in particular. D Deep within an Indonesian rainforest, a team of research scientists recorded something: a Sumatran orangutan (红毛猩猩) named Rakus carefully treating a cut on his cheek with a medical plant. Fights within this region of the rainforest are rare but can occur when males try to establish dominance (统治地位). Regardless of how the injury occurred, the team observed Rakus climbing plants called Akar Kuning, commonly used by humans as treatment for wounds and illnesses like malaria (疟疾). 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 In a world that often feels fast-paced and restrained to routines, the desire for van (房车) life and mobile living has captured the hearts of many seeking an alternative lifestyle. 36 From the freedom to explore new horizons to fostering a minimalist mindset, here are some captivating advantages of embracing van life. Through the open road, the beauty of nature, and the friendship of fellow adventurers, van life presents a unique avenue for enriching the human experience. 40 A.It’s thrilling to travel the world. B.Many van lifers tend to go green. C.Living in a van can often be more cost-effective. D.They’ll find a sense of freedom of constant exploration. A retired engineer, 76-year-old Wilson had been offering free rides to college students for the past eight years. Since no first had started volunteering his car to the young people. Wilson had covered an astonishing 64,000 miles, and had countless pleasant and often humorous conversation with the students he transported to and from school. The students who he'd driven had go ne on to become physicians, teachers and engineers, but what they'd also got out of their time in school was finding a role model and a friend in Wilson. “It's such a privilege to be a part of these kids' lives, getting to know them-and hearing their stories." B Bright and early on the morning of our first full day in Antarctica, L’ Austral’s Captain Fabien’s voice woke us up as it came through a loudspeaker. A.Exploring Antarctica — A Place with Various animals B.An Antarctic Adventure for Scientific Research C.A Comfortable Travel Experience D.A Family’s Journey to Antarctica C In an era dominated by texting and messaging apps, phone calls seem to become a relic (遗物) of the past among younger generations, Gen Z in particular. D Deep within an Indonesian rainforest, a team of research scientists recorded something: a Sumatran orangutan (红毛猩猩) named Rakus carefully treating a cut on his cheek with a medical plant. A retired engineer、76-year-old Wilson had been offering free rides to college students for the past eight years. “It's such a privilege to be a part of these kids' lives, getting to know them-and hearing their stories." The English Dubbing Club 第二节 (满分25分) 67.范文 “He isn't what he used to be,” his wife told Stern. They organized a schedule to visit him regularly, bringing him homemade meals, reading to him, and sharing stories of their lives since college. They also helped with his medical appointments and errands, ensuring that he and his wife were not alone during this challenging time. It was their way of giving back to the man who had given so much to them. "We're here for you, Grandpa," they would say, echoing the warmth and care he had once shown them. The bond between Wilson and his "adopted" students had become a two-way street of love and support, a testament to the enduring impact of his selfless acts. 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
