Please underline the answers. Passage Two Children in the US are enthusiastic (热心的) about community service and regard it as an integral (必不可少的) part of their lives. Some schools make community service a requirement for graduation. Let's look at what students abroad have been doing for their communities. Chen Tuo (Sylvia Chen), 17, a 12th grader in the US Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." I am inclined (愿意) to agree with him. I have been volunteering at the Boston Children's Hospital every year since I was 13. At the beginning, I had only wanted to go because I would get credit (学分) for something as simple as entertaining (哄) children at the hospital. After giving my time from 8 am to 5 pm for two months in 2003, my opinion changed drastically (彻底地). When I first stepped into the well-furnished waiting room on the ground floor, I was not overly happy at the prospect (前景) of spending my entire summer with kids. As it became routine (常规) for me to come every day at 8 am, many kids began expecting me. To my surprise, I began looking forward to seeing their bright faces as well. They were always enthusiastic about learning. My heart warmed every time I heard their eager voices asking me for a story or for an answer to a question. I felt valued and irreplaceable (不可替代的). As I look back, I see the influence these special children have had on me. It is because of them that I developed my desire to become a psychologist (心理学家). Recently, I volunteered for the month of September. I have been asked to help out on many different floors in addition to the waiting room where I started. The kids in the floors above are usually there long-term. Despite their anxiety and desire to get better and go home, they always offer me optimistic smiles. I feel renewed (精神焕发的) after spending a day with them because I realize that there is much more to life than school and money. It is much more important to love and be loved.
