Unit 1 Teenage Life Listening and Speaking 教案 I. Teaching Background (I) Textbook Analysis This listening and speaking lesson is from Unit 1 "Teenage Life" in the compulsory first volume of the People's Education Press' high school English textbook (2019 version). Centered around school clubs and their activities in teenage school life, the listening materials serve as a valuable resource for students to understand and select school clubs. The multimodal discourses, including texts, listening materials, and pictures, enrich students' learning resources and contribute to enhancing their comprehensive language using abilities. (II)Analysis of Students' Situation Students have just entered high school and are full of curiosity about the new campus environment and various club activities. They have a certain foundation in English and can conduct simple daily conversations. However, they need improvement in applying listening skills, and in the accuracy and fluency of oral expression. Especially when discussing in depth topics about school life in English, they require more guidance and practice. II. Teaching Objectives (I) Language Competence Objectives 1. Students will be able to understand conversations about school clubs and their activities, accurately obtain key information such as club names, activity contents, and reasons for participation. 2. Skillfully use common sentence patterns for expressing likes, dislikes, and suggestions, and clearly and fluently talk about their favorite clubs and reasons in English, as well as give reasonable suggestions for choosing clubs. (II) Learning Ability Objectives 1. Through activities like matching pictures with club names and discussions before listening, cultivate students' observation and prediction abilities. During the listening process, teach them to catch key words and improve listening comprehension skills. 2. In the oral practice session, enhance the logicality and coherence of students' oral expressions, strengthen their ability to cooperate and communicate with others, and encourage them to learn from their peers. (III) Cultural Awareness Objectives 1. Students will understand the cultural differences between domestic and overseas school clubs, broaden their international horizons, and enhance their cross cultural communication awareness. 2. Develop an attitude of respecting different school life styles in various cultural backgrounds and improve cultural tolerance. (IV) Thinking Quality Objectives 1. When discussing how to choose clubs, guide students to think critically, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different clubs, and cultivate rational choice thinking. 2. By summarizing sentence patterns for expressing likes, dislikes, and suggestions, improve students' abilities of induction, summary, and logical thinking. III. Teaching Key and Difficult Points (I) Teaching Key Points 1. Help students get familiar with various school clubs and their activities, and master relevant vocabulary and common expressions. 2. Guide students to use appropriate language to talk about club related topics, and improve their listening and speaking skills. (II) Teaching Difficult Points 1. Enable students to deeply understand and reflect the cultural differences between domestic and overseas school clubs in practical communication. 2. Ensure that students can use the learned sentence patterns naturally and accurately in oral expressions, overcome expression barriers, and achieve smooth communication. IV. Teaching Methods 1. Situational Teaching Method: Create real life situations such as school club recruitment to allow students to experience and use the language in context. 2. Task based Learning Method: Design diverse tasks like picture matching, listening selection, and dialogue discussion to stimulate students' initiative in learning. 3. Cooperative Learning Method: Organize group activities to promote mutual learning and common progress among students, and cultivate their teamwork spirit. V. Teaching Procedures (I) Lead in (5 minutes) 1. Show Video Clips of School Club Activities: Play exciting video clips of school music club performances, football club matches, and volunteer club public welfare activities to attract students' attention. 2. Question guided Discussion: Ask questions like "What clubs can you see in the video? Have you ever joined any clubs before? What was your experience like?" Encourage students to share their experiences and naturally introduce the topic of this lesson. (II) Listening (15 minutes) 1. Before Listening (5 minutes) Picture Vocabulary Matching: Present pictures of different club activities (such as the Robotics Club, Literature Club, Photography Club) and their corresponding English words. Let students quickly match them and then discuss in groups what the students in the pictures are doing. Vocabulary Explanation and Expansion: Explain the pronunciation and meaning of some difficult words (such as robotics, literature), and expand related vocabulary (such as robot, poetry) to prepare students for listening comprehension. 2. While Listening (10 minutes) First Listening: Play a dialogue introducing school clubs. Before listening, ask students to predict the possible club information in the dialogue, such as club names and special activities. After listening, ask students to answer simple questions, like "How many clubs are mentioned?" "What are they?" Second Listening: Play the second dialogue and set multiple choice questions. The options cover details of club activities and the reasons why members join. Guide students to take notes of key information while listening to improve their listening skills. (III) Speaking (20 minutes) 1. Dialogue Imitation Practice (10 minutes) Present Dialogue Examples: Show a dialogue text about discussing club selection. Let students read it first to understand the dialogue's logic and language usage. Imitation Reading: The teacher plays the dialogue audio, and students imitate reading sentence by sentence, paying attention to pronunciation skills such as intonation, liaison, and weak forms. Then, students work in pairs to read the dialogue in roles to deepen their impression. 2. Group Discussion and Sharing (10 minutes) Set Discussion Questions: Pose questions like "What factors should we consider when choosing a club? Which club would you like to join and why?" Let students discuss in groups and encourage them to express their opinions using the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns. Group Representative Presentation: Each group selects a representative to share the group's discussion results with the whole class. Other groups can ask questions or make supplements. The teacher gives timely comments and guidance, corrects language errors, and enriches students' expressions. (IV) Pronunciation (10 minutes) 1. Vocabulary Pronunciation Enhancement (5 minutes) Word Repetition and Expansion: Let students repeat the key words in the listening materials again. The teacher demonstrates the correct pronunciation and emphasizes the easily mispronounced sounds. Students add more club related words (such as drama, debate) on their own for pronunciation practice. Summary of Pronunciation Rules: Guide students to summarize the pronunciation rules of vowels, consonants, and common letter combinations (such as "-tion", "-ure") to help them better master pronunciation skills. 2. Sentence Intonation Training (5 minutes) Proverb Repetition and Comprehension: Show English proverbs with rich intonation changes (such as "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.").
